Beautiful Sea and Sand Surfside 'Livin' the Dream' resort 6-plex end unit #5, The Speckled Trout, boasts panoramic Gulf water views and long stretches of sun and surf to take in! Enjoy the spectacular shimmering ocean view and sunrise with your cup of joe in the am and relax with your cool cocktail and dine al fresco on the upper extra scenic level covered deck right outside your front door in the evening. You're officially on island time!

The Space:
With a queen-sized bed in the master and futon sleeper couch located in the main living area, this is a great choice for up to groups of 4 who wish to be right on the beach and steps away from the surf!

OTHER FEATURES/AMENITIES: coffee maker, ceiling fans throughout inside, guest comforts of home welcome kit, complimentary WIFI/Internet service, upper level unit, common area outdoor charcoal grill

SLEEPING/BATH ARRANGEMENT: (sleeps 2 in beds, could accommodate up to 4 - see description below for details)

It's easy to stay with us and secure too! Access the home electronically at 4pm on the date of your arrival with your unique lock code that we specifically give only to you via text and email. Your code is live from 4pm on your arrival date until 11am on the date of your departure.

The Neighborhood:
No touristy chain restaurants, shops or hotels. Just chillin' beach bar and grills, food (and beverage) trucks (like Surfin Rita Daiquiris To-Go), burger joints (like Pier 30 and Beachfront Deck Bar & Grill) and tasty fresh seafood options (like Seahorse Bar & Grill and Red Snapper) line the water. Surfside is your simple relaxing sandy beach, water sporting, surfing, fishing and crabbing vacation destination.

We ensure our homes are fully and professionally cleaned after each guest stay guaranteeing your stay is nothing short of spectacular. In addition, all of our homes feature luxury hotel-quality/high thread count on all sheets, bedding, and bath towels. When you rent a 979 VPS home, you'll also receive the 'comforts of home' guest welcome starter supply of shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags. We want your stay to be as easy as you do, and we make every effort to delight.

WIFI/TV SERVICE:
Our properties include WIFI/Internet and TV service for your streaming services. Due to our location (Island living is a whole other way of life), service may be unpredictable or spotty, and repair times can be delayed. While we will do everything we can to ensure these items are in good working order before your arrival, please note, these services may not be as consistent as they are in your area. So grab your favorite people, ditch the electronics, and spend the day at our beautiful beaches!

979 VACATION PROPERTY SERVICES:
All 979 Vacation Property Services rental home follow local and state tax rules. Reservations may be booked up to 365 days in advance of check-in. Please send inquiry and details if your stay is more than a year out as rates and availability may not be updated. Each reservation includes applicable taxes, a cleaning fee, $1,000,000 liability protection and $10,000 damage insurance - No Security Deposit Required!

CANCELLATION POLICY:
For any new reservation, you may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund. Some exceptions may apply for last-minute reservations.

After that, cancel at least 30 days before your check-in and receive a refund in your original form of payment less the booking fee.

Reservations made on 3rd party channels such as Airbnb, VRBO, TripAdvisor, etc may be subject to their terms and conditions which may be different than 979's. Please reference the site where you originally reserved your stay.

When they say, "steps from the beach", they MEAN steps from the beach! It was the perfect size and distance for me and my kiddos. It was a bit cold but they had a great time and that's all that matters! Looking forward to staying again.

Property was not ready to be occupied. Sheet rock dust and paint on deck and walkway. Light bulbs burned out. Kitchen faucet installed incorrectly. Opposite directions.

Location was perfect and right on beach. Watching the sunrise in front of the condo. Walking distance to local Bar and Grill with outdoor amenities. Upstairs is best for December warm weather due to mosquitoes. Had a great time walking the beach and soaking up the sounds of the waves.

The description of the property is completely accurate. It is very clean and right on the pedestrian beach. As someone that likes to cook, the kitchen could be a little more equipped. Wine glasses are a must for any beach house. There’s not any place to put down your toiletry bags etc. The bathroom sure is big enough to add shelves of some sort. Or, a small piece of furniture with drawers. Communication was thorough and swift. If you want a great balcony to people watch and enjoy the gulf, this is your place. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were nice and soft. The furnishings were basic - and we had no problem with that. Our only issue had to do with the water. The city water is terrible but we expected the owners would have a water softener or other type of treatment. It was difficult to shower as the water smelled and looked so bad - we smelled bad even after we showered! We have rented other properties in Surfside and all have treated the water so this was a surprise for us and we would not stay at this place again.

Great location

Had a really good time over all. There were only two minor complaints. At first I didn’t see the bbq grills mentioned, contacted management they told me where they were. They were the steel charcoal grills like you see in parks sometimes that were posted into the ground. They are both on one side of the building along the fence line. Convenient only if you are staying in the bottom level unit on that side of the building. Otherwise you are hiking up and down a ton of stairs every time a burger is ready. That’s fine if you are cooking for one or two people, but I had a friends and family in all three top floor units. I ended up buy a different grill to use while we were there. Second, the wifi mentioned is non-existent. I asked management about it because I couldn’t find the signal. they responded and told me that the instructions are in the information book. It’s in the book, (but so are instructions for a dishwasher that doesn’t exist) however the only two times we even saw the network show up it had zero signal and was unusable. One of the towels had a big circular kind of crusty brown stain on it. That wasn’t a huge deal, we just didn’t use that towel. There are also instructions on how to use the thermostat, however you don’t actually have control over it. Every time we changed the setting, it would change back after about 30-40 seconds. So it was a bit hot in the room at night. We’ve stayed in the building before when the Hotel down the street owned it, and that a little more pleasant. These issues could be addressed immediately by the night staff. When these issues were brought up this time I had to leave a message and/or send an email and wait a while for a response. The location is awesome, and if you like to stay in a room that’s a bit on the warm side, then I t’s perfectly fine. But for the price, we will likely just rent an actual beach house next time and not return to this location.
