The Deck: Over 1,000 square feet (GIANT) of covered and decked (composite decking) outdoor living space all to yourself. If you’re looking to relax in style, you’re at the right place. Big Bend StarGazer deck offers a large and stylish outdoor kitchen (cooktop/sink/propane grill/dining table/refrigerator) to enjoy meals at home, a couch for lounging, and a propane firetable for those cool nights.

The outdoor shower is large, private, and frames the surrounding mountains for viewing while showering. Hot water, private entry through the bath house, and incredible views make this an experience you won't forget.
Note: While we are on septic, both of our showers are graywater that is used to feed trees and sometimes the birds will drink this water. For that reason we ask that you please use the bath products that we supply, so we keep the birds and trees happy and well!
Gazer Point: Enjoy your own jaw dropping private scenic overlook with spectacular 360 views of Big Bend National Park and beyond. Outstanding stargazing opportunities from this overlook; one of the best views in the area - all to yourself! You can hike or drive to the turnaround spot. The very best stay I have experienced. Big Bend has many great things to see and experience. Star Gazer and the property are just as incredible. The Star Gazer and surrounding property were amazing both during the day and at night. The stars at night were something I have never experienced in my 60 years of life. I took three days of lukewarm showers before I reached out to Daryl and within three minutes I had hot water. My old bones are still thanking Daryl for telling me how to restart the water heater!!!! Star Gazer and the deck is the perfect place to get away. It offers a home to relax after a day of hiking/biking. I read three books on the deck and in the surrounding relaxing stations provided at Star Gazer. Perfect place if you looking to recharge and slow down. I will be back with my family.

Terlingua offers countless options to stay but none offer what StarGazer gifted us. The design of StarGazer was done by someone with an intimate appreciation of the terrain and its gifts. Not a detail was missed. A full panorama of The Chisos Mountains, Mule Ear Peak, the opening of Santa Elena Canyon and the Full Hunter's Moon fed our camera with breathtaking captures. The Windstream was ample, cold in July, and appointed with most everything you would need. We cooked outside, showered outside, and reflected. The shade never once exposed us to the punishing sun.The view from the toilet gave new perspective in "relieving" oneself. Wifi was powerful, lighting perfect, and all appointments worthy of a 4 star resort. Most striking was the deafening silence, no neighbors and like no other place, there was NOTHING but unadulterated landscape in front of us. As we walked the paths we began searching for near dates to return. If you are in love with the Big Bend area and need a moonburn or awestruck celestial chorus, you STAY HERE! Thank you for this timeless moment of connection with origin.

Rarely does anything, any place or anyone OVER-deliver on a promise but the Star Gazer does. The deck cooking area and banos with showers inside and out were my favorite part. The Airstream itself is cozy and clean and the expansive view was life affirming. We had one tiny problem when we arrived but the host picked up our call and quickly talked us through it. I’m giving five stars only because I can’t give 6.

We stayed for a week and absolutely loved it! It has easy access to both Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. It is also close enough to Terlingua to be convenient, but far enough away to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The Airstream is well equipped and the outdoor space, where we spent most of our time, is spectacular. We did the majority of our cooking there. The view over BBNP is breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset. And the bath house....wow! I highly recommend using the outdoor shower, and you will never have a better view from the toilet anywhere else. The stargazing area is great and has a small charcoal grill and a nice picnic table. There are also several little trails throughout the property to wander around on. I truly can't recommend Stargazer enough. Add an extra day or two to what you think you need because I guarantee you will want some extra time there just to hang out and enjoy the property.

This is our first time to Big Bend and we were amazed by the beauty of the area. We were equally amazed at the beauty of the Big Bend Stargazer property. The airstream is well equipped and the beds were quite comfy. We absolutely loved the outside deck, bath house and kitchen and spent most of our time on the deck taking in the views and stargazing. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful property.

Extremely well done for an RV camp!! Oh that star lit night sky was breath taking!! My daughter & I could have stayed there a week.
She only had a 4 day weekend that had to be cut short due to the weather.
If the opportunity ever comes around for another excursion to Big Bend we’ll check to see if the Star Gazer is available.
Awesome place!!!
5.0 / 5.0
This property is in an amazing location with clear, unobstructed views. No telephone lines or buildings in the way! There are multiple areas to hang out and stargaze or take in the sunset.
The property has a really nice toilet/shower setup and all kitchen supplies we needed. The deck is a really nice add-on!
In a harsh desert environment, some maintenance issues can be expected. Nonetheless, the property managers were quick to respond and resolve. They took our concerns seriously and worked quickly to find a resolution. We really appreciated their willingness to work with us so that we could continue to enjoy our vacation.
The property was amazing and we would love to stay there again.

Awesome, private, secluded, close to both big bend national park and big bend ranch state park. Would defintely do it again. Only thing to change is the double twin xl's to a queen or king. Beds were comfortable but would rather have one bed. Loved terlingua and surrounding beauty.

Beds were comfy and the bathroom was beautiful. The star of the show is the outdoor kitchen and lounging area. We cooked all our meals and it was so relaxing. There are several restaurants close by but we enjoyed our space so ate in. It is pricey for two people but we felt it was worth the splurge.

This was the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. We wanted a a little getaway in the Big Bend area. This was the perfect location. Close enough to Terlingua but far enough out you felt completely alone. The amenities and setup of the StarGazer are more than perfect. My wife was proud to say she has now been "glamping", but in reality, this place was better than many high end hotels I have stayed in. Too many amenities to list. If we go back , we will definitely stay here.

Spacious and comfortable outdoor space with full kitchen plus comfortable airstream camper for sleeping or if you need a break from the heat. Although the facility is relatively close to the road, the living space is directed toward a spectacular and otherwise empty view of the desert landscape. And the stars! On the far side of the deck is a spa like separate bathroom with an outdoor shower. For our trip the weather was perfect so we were able to really enjoy all the outdoor living space. The only minor drawback for a couple was the twin beds in the Airstream. Was a spectacular facility and would stay again for sure!

Perfect accomadations. Views were awesome and the place had everything we needed and more.
Great home base for hiking and biking in both the National and State Parks.

We visited in April of 2023 and loved every minute of our stay. We were very fortunate to be able to add a night at the end of our trip so we could stay for one more night! This is an amazing property to enjoy quiet solitude, the peace of nature all around you and at the same time be just a short drive from Lajitas and Terlingua and a 30-40 minute drive to the entrance of Big Bend National Park. It is super easy to access, right off the highway but road noise is not a problem at all. The property is beautifully designed and very clean! While there are only two single beds in the Air Stream, they are very comfortable and we slept great. The bathhouse is roomy with an indoor and outdoor shower, such a treat after returning from hiking in the park. We spent the majority of the time in the outdoor space; relaxing, grilling, bird watching, enjoying sunrises and sunsets, and the stars are absolutely brilliant! Even in the heat of the afternoon there always seemed to be a breeze to keep us cool while relaxing. Lots of people ride motorcycles in the area so for those of you thinking about riding I will add this: we trailered ours and there was plenty of room to load/unload the bikes and leave the trailer in front. We were able to park both bikes and our trunk in the shade of the cover next the airstream. We would absolutely book this property again in the future!
4.0 / 5.0
Great property, but the weather definitely did not cooperate so we never got to use the outdoor deck or outdoor shower. Clouds the entire time so never saw stars. Wind was cold and brutal! I know the weather can’t be controlled, but we were very disappointed since the entire reason we stayed there was to enjoy the outdoors.

My husband and I loved everything about our stay at the StarGazer. As others have stated, the description about the property and photos are 100% spot on. It is very well supplied and stocked with supplies and incidentals which help make the stay that much more stress free. The highlight is the outdoor space. Want to sit and eat at a proper table? Got it. How about an outdoor couch? Yep. Gas firepit with comfy chairs? Of course. The property is quiet and serene with a small hiking path in the back for exploring the grounds. Overall, a simply lovely place to base camp for exploring the awesomeness of the Big Bend.

We loved so many things about this property! The deck was our absolute favorite part - just perfect! Large, plenty of places to relax, the VIEW, the firetable, the outdoor refrigerator, the lighting, the privacy - all so, so nice! The 1/2 mile meandering loop trail was adorable. It was either too cloudy or too windy each of the four nights we were there for us to get to enjoy star gazing from Star Gazer Point, but we loved going up there for the view anyway. Such a well thought out property! The beds were comfortable, and what the airstream lacked in space was well made up for in the deck and the unattached full bathroom. Plenty of towels, paper towels, TP, hot water...all the extras that made us feel right at home. If I am being really picky, the only things we didn't have that we found ourselves needing were tissues and a fly swatter. It was truly one of the best places we have stayed!

Super quiet, clean, and a great overall setup for two people to stay as well as to have some folks over to relax outside. I would highly recommend this property.

If you are staying in the Terlingua region I cannot think of a better option that combines the outdoors and a camping feeling with all the modern amenities you could think of.
1) Location - it is amazing how remote it feels while you are really only 10-15 minutes away from everything. 10 minutes west and you are at Lajitas with the golf resort (go for the breakfast buffet) and the entrance to Big Bend State Park. 10 minutes west and you are in Terlingua and all the restaurants - and another 5 minutes more you are to the entrance to the National Park. The property is right off of Highway 170 but traffic is very light (at night it is almost non-existent) and road noise was never an issue.
2) The Trailer - the airstream has been fully decked out and is beautiful inside. A thermostat for gas heat or AC is a nice touch. The beds were very comfortable as well.
3) The Deck - our favorite part of the experience was the deck with three seating areas (large gas fire table, dining table and a sectional couch). The view is amazing looking into the national park and the Chisos Mountains. Great downward spot lighting for nighttime, with red string lights for star viewing without losing your night vision.
4) The Bath House - this was a real luxury with a normal toilet, full shower and sink area and huge outdoor shower. The hot water was fast and plentiful too.
5) Cooking - Several indoor and outdoor cooking/grilling options. Inside the Airstream is a small oven and stove top (although we never used them) We cooked outside several times using two counter burners and a huge gas grill with another burner on that. Plus a large selection of utensils, pans and appliances and a full size fridge/freezer on the deck.
6) Cleanliness - everything was immaculate and upkept nicely. Also lots of extra supplies for your entire stay.
7) WiFi - it was a good as in my own house! Our phones all had full bars and streaming content or videos was very fast (we were there over Thanksgiving and streamed the Macy's parade and football while out on the deck). Granted you drive 2 minutes away from the property and your cell coverage is very spotty.
8) The Details - I cannot stress how much they have truly thought of everything. You have every amenity of home, right out in the desert. They have really paid attention to little details too - like bird feeders with pails of bird food for you to put out, or your own personal overlook perfect for sunsets.

We are desert connoisseurs. This place captures it all: the ever changing light and colors, the silence, the vastness, the wind, the solitude. All in a charming, living-out-doors structure. If you've never experienced the desert, this is for you.

Speechless. I enjoyed gazing the stars through the star gazer. My partner was emotional on the day of checkout as she didn’t wanted to leave. It’s such a beautiful get-away to a home away from home ;)

Time away from the City!
My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Big Bend StarGazer. It was an awesome home base to explore Big Bend.. . and more! The property itself was a great place to spend quiet time together away from the noise and fat pace of the city. Beautiful setup with all the amenities - the patio and outside bathroom are amazingly designed. An awesome location to enjoy the area and the beautiful skies of Terlingua!! We highly recommend!

Fabulous!
I feel I need to preface this by stating that we have stayed in VRBOs all of the world for the past 17 years…..this is one of our favorites! Our stay at Big Bend Stargazer was nothing short of fabulous. The airstream, deck and surrounding area is exactly as described and shown. We had everything we needed to cook meals and spent much of our time there enjoying the birds and view. We both loved the opportunity to shower outside while still having privacy. As someone mentioned before, the property is close to the road, but it gets little traffic and truly is not an issue. Our first night there, the moon was quite bright, but we got up at 0330 when the moon had moved off to the west and was no longer visible. The stars and Milky Way were spectacular! (We later visited MacDonald Observatory and were not surprised to see that Stargazer is shown as an example of a “night sky friendly place”.) We hope to return again! Al and Barb

Nothing short of perfect!
They have thought of EVERYTHING! It's all easy to use, it's clean, it's fun,, it's a beautiful spot, there are chairs put in amazing spots for enjoying the view and so much more! The outside shower is a gem, the deck is perfect. PLEASE fill the birdbath and birdseed which is left for you when you visit and you will enjoy happy little visitors whilst sipping your coffee in the morning. The only downsides are the AC is very noisy (but it works well, so not really a bad thing) and the beds are very short (but me and my friend are both 5'3" so we did fine!) WE WILL BE BACK! Thank you!!!

Perfect place to stay while visiting Big Bend.
My wife and I enjoyed staying Stargazer very much. The property is very unique and has many special touches. The owners did a great job setting this place up. When we go back to Big Bend we will definitely stay here again.

A very special place!
The purpose for our visit was to go to Big Bend NP for the first time but this place was so wonderful we could’ve just stayed there for our entire vacation. Thank you to the owners for making everything user-friendly and for all the accommodations. The pics and description only give you a glimpse of how amazing this place is. We used the outdoor kitchen for all our meals. And we had steak night up on the incredible plateau that has a picnic table and free standing charcoal grill to go along with 360* views overlooking the entire 40 acres and everything beyond! The quality of the construction on the structures is next to none!

Everything we expected!
Everything about the property is as presented. Some of our own misconceptions—-we thought the trailer would be farther off the road than it it, but the way it’s designed, it is a non issue. We thought that Stargazer Point (?) was a public space at the end of a dead end road. We were thrilled to discover it was part of the private property.
We hiked in the park every day, which was great, but I would have loved to spend more time just hanging out on the deck! Absolute best view!!! We would definitely rent this property again.

A delight!
The info about this property that’s on VRBO is accurate. If you’re not familiar with the area, arrive before dark because the surrounding area is very dark and finding the turnoff at night is quite tricky.

Amazing property
We had some cold weather blow through but the camper was cozy. We loved the isolation of the stargazer and the loop trail on the property.

A Splendid Desert Stay
This property is beautifully arranged, and beautifully cared for. The expansive deck, the extraordinary view south and east ranging from Santa Elena Canyon to the Chisos under a canopy of sunlight and stars are the starting point. The stewards of this place have created a stunning and sustaiinable environment with an excellent trail that walks you into the surrounding desert and back--particularly great for morning or evening strolls before returning to the deck, the outdoor kitchen, and the airstream with its very comfortable beds. The separate bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers are just great. Terlingua's close by, but at enough remove so that the true focus is the land and sky. We spent six splendid nights. We come every year to the Big Bend, and aside from camping, this is one of the best dwellings we've had the privilege to visit.

This place was amazing. Views of the night sky and Milky Way were breathtaking. The place was super-well equipped, highly functional, very clean, and easy to operate. Waking up in the morning and seeing the sunrise felt like being in a movie. Enjoying the night sky and doing Milky Way photography was a unique experience, and this accommodation is excellently equipped and located for this purpose. This place is very close to Big Bend National Park. Overall, I could not recommend this Big Bend StarGazer more highly.

Gorgeous!
This property was amazing. The outdoor living area, bathhouse and kitchen were fully stocked and a great way to experience the outdoors with all the conveniences of home. The airstream is super comfortable and supplied with all we needed. The sunrise, sunset and star gazing were out of this world. Daryl and Janet are amazing hosts and responded immediately when we had questions. Very clean and well thought out. Highly recommend and will be back.

Magical stay with spectacular views & stargazing
It was such a delight spending three nights here - the perfect escape from urban life. Spectacular desert mountain views as far as the eye can see during the daytime, and incredible stargazing at night with crystal clear views of the Milky Way (my first time seeing it in person). We really felt like we were in our own private desert oasis.
So much care and detail has been put into making this rental just the right blend of outdoor living and modern comforts (the luxurious bathhouse really took it to the next level!) There were also several moments when I realized I had left something I needed for cooking at home, and was delighted to find that they had exactly what we needed - salt, spices, pots, pans, utensils, etc. We loved preparing our meals outside and watching the sunset at Gazer Point.
HIghly recommended! I hope we can come back someday.

Stars, deck and location
I would rate this 5 out of 5, what truly sold this, was the deck and the location. It was just enough off the highway where your not brother by the noise or head lights if any and few miles from Terlingua and BBNP.

Outdoor living at it's best !
Air condition sleeping, the rest was nice outdoor living with perfect views!! Although there was a nice shower inside we decided to try the outside shower and never looked back. Well thought out clean and a lot of fun. Thanks!!!
