We chose Yorecroft in the first instance because of it's location being close to locations we wanted to visit and many walks virtually from the doorstep. The hosts James and Jill looked after us really well. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Jill's homemade shortbread biscuits were extremely yummy and much appreciated on our walks. We had the use of a small sitting room downstairs where there was an extensive supply of books for walking routes and places to visit. We also sat in here for our breakfast and never tired of the view. We also made use of the Little White bus to get to Hawes and West Witton and were able to walk back over Penhill.
The only downside was that the pub in the village where we hoped to be able to have an evening meal was closed. Fortunately we were able to find excellent places quite nearby and could recommend the Street Head Inn in Newbiggin and the Wheatsheaf in Carperby, both just a short drive away.

We know the dales well, and have used many B&Bs and holiday cottages in the area during the last 40 years. This one stands out as having everything that makes a stay away from home enjoyable and worthwhile. Set back off the main road, the property is in a picturesque village. Our parking needs were accommodated admirably. Jill and James were welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts, and immediately made us feel at home. The lounge, available for the use of B&B guests, is a lovely room with comfortable seating. It really comes into its own when it is used in the morning as a breakfast room. The dining table (only one, because there is only one guest room) is placed to take advantage of the excellent view through the patio doors, over the property's garden, and across to the limestone escarpments on the north side of Wensleydale. Very pleasant indeed. The bedroom has a similar view through a smaller window. The room itself is spotlessly clean, well equipped with a comfy bed. The bathroom is well appointed, has a proper shower, not one of the fine mist spray sorts, and served all of our needs very well. Fresh milk is provided in a flask, home baked shortbread biscuits and flapjack were a very comforting addition. Anyone needing a base for a holiday break in the north dales would have difficulty finding better accommodation than this. Thank you Jill and James.
Nothing at all. If I wrote the 2 or 3 sentences Booking.com ask for, it would be unwarranted waffle about nowt.

Spotlessly clean and comfortable bedroom and en-suite and bonus of our own private sitting/dining room with garden access. In a lovely quiet village but with good access to all of Wensleydale.
Nothing. It was just perfect for us as a couple. The hosts James and Jill were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us.

Hosts were very friendly and helpful, they could not have done more and were also able to help me our with some local knowledge and routes. The bed was so comfy and had a great night sleep on top of that the breakfast was very filling and tasty! I had use of the lounge area and the gardens, it was very peaceful and relaxing.
I am not sure much more could be better to be honest. It was a fairly late booking, but everything was perfect!

Breakfast was great - we got to choose main items like eggs, breakfast meat, etc. Yogurt, cereal etc. was there if you wanted it.
Bed was very comfortable but we were too warm here as in other place in England. Probably should have asked for a different blanket.

The couple who ran it have pretty much got everything spot on! They were really kind and helpful. The place was super clean and comfortable. They had thought of everything, lots of clean towels, all toiletries, spares of blankets, space for our things, fresh milk daily and lots, lots more but especially the homemade flapjack! The food was really high quality with good solid portions, great choice of breakfast which were all high quality and delicious, that kept us going on our walks well past lunchtime. The setting was amazing. We cannot rate this place highly enough, we've had a fabulous stay! Thank you so much!
I don't see how anyone can go there and not love absolutely everything!

We had a wonderful stay!! Warm welcome, the garage was already open to park the motorbikes. Nice room with view on the garden and the surrounding beautiful area. Even in the shower you have the same view. And then the best thing still had to come, the breakfast! What a choice and so tasty, really a place to go! Thank you so much for everything during our stay.

We've been coming to the Dales for 40 years and this was our best visit so far. Excellent room and private sitting room. Superb breakfast and a most friendly welcome from Jill and James who are locals through and through. And as for the homemade flapjack and biscuits in the room.....
