We love the location and price of this house, we have been coming for at least the last 15 years to this home and will be going again next year.

We loved the proximity to the gulf and the very secluded beach. I feel The Purple House is suited for those needing both sides of the duplex, content with pretty comfortable accommodations without the expectation of glamorous, high-end details in the house. I would be hesitant to rent one or the other side individually, though. That's simply personal as to not wanting to share the pool. :-)

First, let me start by saying before we booked this property and before we arrived, I messaged the rental company to verify the concerns noted in several reviews (deck railing wobbly) had been resolved. They assured me it had been taken care of. When we arrived, it was evident it had not been addressed.
Day one: the microwave on one side did not work. I reached out and someone brought a "loaner" microwave in a reasonable amount of time. The drains were slow to drain - the rental agency was already aware of this. They had someone come to the property and snake one of the bathroom drains.
Day two: There was a light on downstairs on one of the pumps (possibly related to the septic). I notified the rental agency. They assured me this was an escalated issue and someone would be to the property by end of day. No one ever came. There is a foul septic smell in the downstairs area.
Day three: I followed up with the rental agency again. They then advised me that the county septic company would be coming out to evaluate.
Day four & five: nothing. no communication and no one came to the home. The septic smell remains.
We left on day six. I received a call five days later from a local plumber to address the concerns. Obviously, at this point, we were no longer there so I referred him back to the rental agency.
In summary, the house is "okay". It served our needs, but it is in serious need of repair, and it doesn't seem the company is concerned about this.

Loved the house, plenty of room, pool was great deck railings kind of dangerous, grass growing on pool decking, living room couches and chairs are on bad shape

Home is ok. The deck railing is super wobbly. Feels like it could fall over any time. We had 20 guests, we all fit comfortably. The home just needs some updates and a deep, deep clean.

The 2 houses provided plenty of room for our group. Loved the doir going between. Rooms were large and accommodating. Plenty of seating.

This house was so spacious and cute! The kitchens are stocked so well, I was very impressed, every single utensil, pan, dish or appliance you could need. Just a tiny walk to the beach (literally like walking through our back yard) and the pool was great... beds are a little old and you might bring a comforter because there aren't enough blankets to go on all the beds but overall..it was a great place and I would recommend.

Every room has its own bathroom. Plenty of room for our big family. Kitchen had lots of amenities for cooking.
Older home that needs some updating and maintenance work.

The location and proximity to the beach was fantastic.

The location is fantastic. The proximity to the beach also fantastic. Needs significant TLC. There were other issues as well that i reported to vacasa.

The area was perfect for a large group. Easy to access the more touristy areas but calm and very peaceful and private while at “home” we had 20 people in the house and accommodation was great. Each bedroom has a bathroom with a shower and walk in closets. It’s not fancy, but lots of beds and rooms. We had the full house so two kitchens and living rooms was also nice. They didn’t leave us enough garbage bags (one for each kitchen for 5 days) and there was one kitchen towel in the entire place. We had paper towels and ran and got more garbage bags.
The private pool is nice to have but really needs updated as does the deck. I would not be barefoot on it for fear of a nail. The good outweighed the bad for sure, but if this place was updated it would be even more amazing.

House was perfect for our large family and the pool was a great addition. Easy walk to the beach. There are several loose railings on the balcony and the gates. Some of the porch/balcony chairs were broken and a few of the dining chairs in East house had broken arms. Minor fixes, but overall a great week!

Location to beach was good and the pool was nice (mostly) but the house is in need of some upkeep. Shower rods are falling out of the walls and it hasn't been painted in forever it seems. There is stuff splashed on the walls and several "questionable" spots on the matress protector. The most noisy beds ever. All 8 couples commented on how noisy they were. All mattresses were worn out with divots in them. The kitchen was well stocked and laundry facilities were nice. Deck was so old and so many nails sticking out you trip on them. Very rickety and unsafe for any children and adults alike. You fall to the floor when you sit on the couches. Overall, it needs a lot but if you don't mind all that, the location is great. Response from property management was great!

I was honestly a little nervous about booking the Purple House, but the price couldn't be beat and it has no BAD reviews so we decided to take a chance for our friend vacation. I'm glad we did! This is no luxury home mind you. But for a group with lots of kids, that's not what we were looking for. The house is obviously older, and upkeep has been sufficient, but no major upgrades. However, it was clean and spacious and we loved that the every single room had its own bathroom and large closet. Nothing felt gross or dilapidated, which was my concern. The kitchens were nice stocked with everything we needed for cooking large meals everyday. The separate ice makers in each kitchen were a bonus that we loved! Our group also loved that we could open the door between the two units and turn it into one big house. Our group had 14 adults and 11 children and we felt we had plenty of space. The private pool, the quiet location and the short walk to the beach absolutely cannot be beaten for this price. I was concerned about the railing on the deck based on other reviews, but while worn, we did not find it unsafe. We had brought baby gates to block off the stairs, but found there were already gates built in everywhere to keep small children safe from the pool. There are also many baby gates in the house for blocking off the indoor stairs. Our whole group agreed we would be happy to return to the Purple House!

We recently rented The Purple House at Gulf Shores for a family vacation for 25 people. The house is seemed very roomy. We were pleasantly surprised with the ice machines and wine cooler. The living room furniture looks a little tired, but the bedrooms and beds were very nice. In the future I would suggest if you rent this as a single unit it would be nice if you would allow 6 vehicles instead of 4. We found there was enough room under the house for 6. Other than that we liked the location, pool and the availability to laundry facilities. We would rent this again.

Overall excellent
House was nice and just as it appeared in the pictures. The only problem was the deck railing. It was loose and we had to block it off so the younger kids wouldn’t fall. Needs to be repaired so no one is injured. Would be a bad fall into the pool area.

Perfect rental & week for us!
I couldn’t have found a better place for our 2 families! Great setup & price point. It is not luxurious but has all the room we needed! We were concerned about a loose railing & it needs some paint & TLC but I do feel I found the perfect rental. VACASA was very responsive with fixing a dishwasher. East needs a large Fry Pan. Thanks for sharing with us!

Spacious Home
This home is spacious and does hold the 28 people as advertised. The kitchen did not have dish towels or rags to wash and dry dishes although it does have a dishwasher. I just don’t use it. The cleaning service did not do a very good job. The house was still dirty. We did have clean sheets and toilets. The pool is nice but has sticker grass growing in the pool area. Vacasa has just acquired this home and I hope they make big changes for next year.
