A short getaway before daughters moved back to college. Enjoyed the proximity to the beach and the Dunes State and National parks. Grateful for owners that are pet-friendly as our guy is a family member and loves outdoor adventure. Appreciated the quick response and resolution to address an issue with the water heater during our stay.

My overall impression of the Dunehaven
is very positive. The house was very clean. They thought of everything- clean towels, fresh linen, extra pillows, blankets and pillowcases for our use. The kitchen was sticked with dishes, pots, pans and more. Even shampoo, conditioner and body wash. That was amazing. The hot tub and grill outside were also nice amenities. We walked to the beach and had a beach brunch from my daughter's Fifteenth birthday. It is close by, a five minute drive.
The only criticism I have for the house is that we could not control the temperature the way we wanted to. At some point, Some of the girls were cold and we could not adjust the thermostat higher than 77°, or even turn off the air once the house was extremely cool. I don't like the fact that someone put a lock on the thermostat to not go past certain temperatures. That is an issue for me to have someone else controlling the temperature of the house when we are the ones in the house. Being too cold or too hot is extremely uncomfortable, especially when I believe the owners' goal is to make guests as comfortable as possible.
Other than that, I do understand the noise concerns, so we did not play any loud music at all, and the TV volume was also at a moderate level throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend this home. The beds are comfortable. There was enough space for all of us.
We left the house very clean- in the condition it was in when we arrived out of respect and common courtesy.

The house was recently remodeled so it was pretty nice. The back deck was perfect and really nice. The ring door bell lets the property manager spy on you. For some odd reason there is no parking in front of the house so when we had guests over I got a text telling me that they needed to move the car. This no parking in front of the house. the only signs in Miller beach for no street parking are in front of this house everywhere else has street parking. We could not adjust the thermostat. This house is older so the back bedrooms were hot. You are not allowed to adjust the thermostat so be prepared to be hot if you stay here. Hot water really took a long time to get hot and we ran out it every night after everyone showered. The Dish washer didn't work so we had to do dishes by hand every night. It would appear the property owner is not local and the management company does a poor job. There are nicer properties to stay in. I would not recommend this one.

Six ladies all family were celebrating 2 of us turning 60. The house was very modern with a great layout and nice outdoor entertaining area. Our only suggestion would be its time to replace the mattress's in each room.

This rental by far is one of the best rentals I’ve rented and I rent 5+ a year. Very clean and updated home with plenty of space. Comfy beds, plenty of blankets and pillows. Fully stocked kitchen with all the Necessities! Also was very impressed with the stocked coffee, toilet paper, trash bags, spices that came with it. This is not typical for a rental. They typically leave you enough for a day. We were there for 5 days and still didn’t run out! There was enough parking and the double garage was helpful! The outdoor space was lovely. Fenced yard, gas fire pit and grill. Hot tub with an outdoor shower. Very quiet neighborhood! 5min walk to lake beach. This place was lovely and we will rent this again when we come back to town.

My family and I enjoyed a relaxing stay at Dunehaven! We wanted to visit Indiana State Dunes to experience a beach made from a natural lake. It was cold in May, but didn't stop of from enjoying the sun and sand. The hot tub was easy to use and firepit at night was needed after a long day. The home was clean, inviting and the beach was so close. Literally, it was just a two minute drive.
I recommend getting out and exploring the road towards the Michigan state line. Michigan City is only thirty minutes down the road from Dunehaven and has great shopping. We also visited the Michigan City zoo since we had little ones with us. The zoo was quaint, affordable and a tower you can climb to see the dune beach nearby. Certainly a different perspective from the top. We also visited Grand Beach, Michigan. Beautiful homes and small little beach with public access.
There was a great deal of road work going on near the home so that was a bit chaotic at times. Dunehaven is a beautifully curated home, modern decor, and the amentities are all you need for cooking, watching the sunset at the nearby beach, and enjoying an evening with family at night. Thanks for a great stay. ps...the customer service is incredible.

Very nice place, and very close to Lake Michigan for great views and a nice disc golf course on the lake as well. The property had everything we needed for a great weekend.

Started off rough, but finished okay. Garage door opener didn’t open the door, because it was disconnected from the opener.
Two of us Got stung by bees from a grounds nest near the deck, and we had no hot water for the majority of the first day.
We entered from the front door and came through the house and discovered the door situation, after several calls about the hot water and trying different things a maintenance person came about 10:00 pm and flipped a switch behind a security door and we had hot water instantly. They did bring a can of bee and wasp spray the next morning and took care of the bees.
House was nice, great appliances and plenty of plates and silverware. Looks like they are adding another bedroom in the basement which would be a nice addition. One and a half bathrooms made it tough for our large group, but made it work. A lot of road and bridge construction in the area, but only temporary .
But the location to a very nice and quite beach was perfect. I’m sure without all these small but still inconveniences, the stay would have been very nice.

From checking-in to check-out a great experience. this property fit our style and needs perfectly for a short weekend get-a-way. Really loved the kitchen in this property, had everything one needs and the bedrooms/bathrooms are all updated and comfy. The only thing we couldn't get to work was the tv stuff, but we're not normal Roku users and although the instructions were clear we kept getting a connectivity to the internet warning. it's okay we all had our own devices and apps but if someone was looking to use the tv, might want to check it. We did use the hottub and patio, which is really a nice set-up. We didn't use the grill but would if we returned. And we very well may return. If we find ourself needing a weekend in the area, we'd most definitely book again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect. Very well stocked and accommodating. We really did not leave except to go to the beach the entire stay. We cooked, grilled, played cards, played the guitar, sat in the hot tub many times, roasted marsh mellows and was able to enjoy the entire family spread out. The beach access was a bit difficult but we figured it out. I would recommend listing it to walk on the pavement to the beach or a quick drive. We would of still booked the listing. The area around once you get in is nice and a beach area. It is a shame there are a few houses that really make the area look rougher than it really is. We felt safe with how you had the house set up with security. Overall we would book your listing again. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Exceptional Location!
We absolutely loved our stay at this rental in the dunes! The walk to the beach was great through the dunes and it was so close, beautiful views within the walk too. The beach itself was huge, very private, great sand and lovely scenery. You could also hike the dunes to other cool attractions nearby. The hot tub was great as well as the outside area. The host was super responsive when I asked her about adding chemicals to the hot tub. The inside was great too, foosball table in the basement was super fun for the kids. We definitely recommend this place for a beach getaway!

Pleasantly Surprised - way above my expectations
We liked the place and location, it surpassed our expectations.
Booking was easy, however the amount of emails received were a bit too much.
Communication with the property manager/owner was pleasant and they responded promptly.
Locations was great, only an hour away from Chicagoland, and a hidden gem. We enjoyed our daily walks through the dunes to the beach and watching the sunsets.
Neighborhood was safe, and properties around are well maintain and some beautiful - also available through VRBO. We are already eyeing one.
The place is simple and nicely decorated, and the common areas were comfortable, although the main living room could use more seating furniture to watch movies together (only room for 3, we moved a one-person cushion chair from the basement). Also the carpet needs to be taped down or replaced.
The 3 bedrooms were fantastic, nice beds, the other sleeping areas were not that comfortable.
We concluded that this place is better for 6-7 people, 2 per bedroom and 3 on the 3rd bedroom. This is also due to having only one full bath to share among all guests - there is also a half bath.
Kitchen was well supplied. A few more towels and dishcloths would have been helpful.
We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, and grill. All functional and clean.
We needed a few supplies and the response was swift. On the other hand, there we experience trouble with the media system located in the living room area, and my husband spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with management trying to fix it. Keep in mind that this was November 28 in Indiana, cold weather Sunday, perfect for the family to gather around and watch football and movies. That media snafu took a considerable chunk of our Sunday.
The overall cleanness of the house was good, and the flooring can use a good scrub. We do not use shoes indoors and our socks got pretty dark very fast.
Overall this pace is a 4.25 rating, location 5. With a bit more attention to detail they will easily get up to 5.
We enjoyed the house and the beach.

Don’t want to give away the secret
This was a fantastic getaway for my family in the late summer. The beach is a short walk over the dunes and provided hours of entertainment on a clean, secluded section of the lake that includes views of the Chicago skyline on a clear day. The location is also just an hour away from the main Chicago attractions, and provided a good base of operations for those excursions.
The owners did a wonderful job bringing this cozy bungalow up to date with modern features and thoughtful touches. We felt right at home from the start. Large TVs in every room, comfy beds, plush towels, and if we weren’t so busy doing other vacation things, we would have finished one of the 1000 piece puzzles they provided as well.
This has the potential to become a tradition spot for us!

BEWARE!
Don't make the same mistake we did and book this place or this area! You have been warned. It was so bad that we did not even stay 24 hours and left without receiving any money back.
We would not put our family at risk staying here so we booked in South Haven and paid for another week somewhere else. The owner failed to refund any money or acknowledge our concerns that were raised. Overall, the inside of this house was updated. However, that is the ONLY pro about this place. First and foremost, the area is HORRIBLE. Not appropriate for families or kids. Music bumping on both sides. The beach had trash and glass everywhere with a homeless man sleeping on the beach and a used needle on the ground. Industrial views in both directions. Nothing is open nearby to eat or for entertainment. There is no on-street parking which is disclosed in the listing; however, the garage referenced is completely not usable. They have construction debris and lumber all over the garage. Extra wood, plywood, doors, etc. The grass looked like it had not been cut in two weeks so the kids could not use the little area in the back. The door at the top of the stairs had been removed leaving the basement completely accessible so we were not able to secure the doorway for our one year old. Listing that this place sleeps 13 is completely misleading. We had 4 adults and 3 small children and this place was way too small. The furniture in the living room is for looks and not something to relax on while on vacation. The bathroom is SOO small and not practical for more than 2 adults. Do yourself a favor and do NOT book here. Save your money. Our experience was so bad that it has become the joke to all our friends and family as they heard about it because you just can't make up how bad this place is.

Very nice house. Loved the hot tub
The house was perfect for our family. The beach is so close. The neighborhood is in transition. Most of the area restaurants. Appeared closed or had carry out only, “Victims of Covid.”
We wanted a place to escape and walk on the beach in the Dunes.

Dunehaven a little oasis by the Dunes
My adult family and my old dog Jack loved this very modern home. Access to the West indiana Dunes park is across the street. It is so peaceful and quiet. We needed an escape from our busy lives and we found it. The weather was cool for July, the hot tub was a perfect way to end the day. We cooked all our meals. The pandemic stressed many local businesses and they had limited availability. I’m sure that will improve by next summer.

Overall nice place with some flaws
My friends and I had a good time. The place is nice and close to the beach, so we enjoyed walking along the lake every day. The hot tub is also a nice addition.
That said, there are a few things worth calling out.
1) The showering situation is rough. It’s a tankless water heater, which means that the owners have installed a gage to prevent using too much hot water at once. In theory, this makes sense. However, it was almost impossible to regulate the hot water and very difficult to shower.
2) The neighborhood is fine but because the homes are so close, there’s a strict 9 pm quiet time that’s imposed, which means that it’s hard to take full advantage of the hot tub. The renter’s manual mentions sound sensors and the possibility of calling the police if they sensors get tripped. Overall, it felt very “big brother” and restricting since the hot tub was a big draw.
3) This didn’t apply to us but it feels virtually impossible to have 14 people stay here, which is what is listed on the property. Even if 14 people were fine being crammed in a small space, the shower situation should be reason enough to limit occupancy to 8-9 at most. However, be warned that the couch in the basement is extremely uncomfortable to even sit on.
This listing has potential but requires some improvements to warrant a full endorsement.

Our stay here was wonderful. Everything was provided. The space was so peaceful as we celebrated the birthday of our recently departed loved one. Loved everything about the property!! The walk to the beach was great! We will definitely be back!
