De kamer. Zeer moeilijke trap in duplex kamer
5.0
locatie, ontbijt

Amazing grounds, amazing decoration,
Horrifying service at breakfast - could be so much better managed with so little details; even the staff were complaining

Excellent for families. Very quite and peacefull location. There is a lot to see and do around the area, within 15-20 min driving.

The hotel cancelled my stay while at the property with 2 hungry and tired kids at 6pm after a long trip. "ops sorry, your room is not available anymore, there was an error between booking.com and us, sorry, good luck" No hotels no rooms at all avaiable in the area, fully booked every where because of the public holiday weekend. Orrible experience.

Beautiful well renovated castle. Very nice staff. And a very, very good restaurant for lunch and diner with excellent food en wines. Room was clean. Oppurtunity for a nice walk in nature around the hotel (forest with river). Free charching for car.
We had a duplex room with a classic style spiral staircase to the bed area which was a challenge. (Only suitable for small and flexible people.) Bathroom was very small and shower had a showercurtain that was a dissapointment.

The rooms were big
We arrived at the parking and had to carry our own luggage to the chateau (incl stairs). No curtains in the living room (which was open withe the bedroom). I had very high expectations for the restaurant which were not fulfilled.

Beautiful castle renovated in a modern key
Management. As said the location is stunning but the management is appalling.
in the garden and We arrived after 11pm (we informed the management) and there was no one at reception so we had to wait for someone to turn up. When we moved from reception to our room, we had to go outside down to some steps where, due to lack of lighting, I didn’t see the last step and I fell over injuring my foot.
We then arrived to the side of the castle where our room was located: we went up three storey by stairs, our room was located on the top floor. As soon as we entered the building there was a strong smell of cooked meat that we could smell up into our room.
Then we found out that our room was split on two levels with a tiny spiral staircase where barely one perscould fit, forget about taking your trolley upstairs!! The bed and the shower were upstairs, the toilet and the kitchenette were downstairs. The description of the room says it was soundproofed - it wasn’t as we could hear music in the bedroom. Besides, in the room description on booking.com there’s no mention of the splitting of the room in two floors.
i complained to reception (had to go there physically again as I tried to call them 4 times but no one was picking up the phone) asking to change room also because of my injured foot I couldn’t go up and down the stairs easily. After a long wait, I was told that first they were fully booked, then they had available another room at £50 cost surplus.
it took another 10 min of debate that it wasn’t my fault if their description on booking.com wasn’t transparent about the room layout. He said this wasn’t correct so I showed him on my phone. He continued saying that I had to pay the extra if I wanted the other room. I mentioned that if even if I wanted to keep the one I booked it was difficult for me using the toilet given it was downstairs. I pointed out that it was fault of the lack of lightning that. i tripped on the stairs outside.

Hotel was not able to accommodate us in the junior suite booked despite prior paiement. Suggested us a lower quality room for same price or to leave. Awful behaviour.

beautiful setting, beautifully renovated castle and excellent food
leak in the bathroom, noisy room, issues with breakfast service

Very tastefully renovated chateau in the beautiful Belgium Ardennes area.
The hotel opened one year ago in the centuries old castle and the interior is tasteful, very light and almost minimalistic but good fitting within such an historic building, not kitch at all (as you sometimes see in other renovated castle-hotels). The staff was usually very friendly and the surrounding area of the chateau with its forests is really breathtaking, a perfect location from where to explore the villages and nature.
Unfortunately the internal restaurant only offered a fixed 5 to 7 courses fine dining menu. That was nice for one time, but a couple of nights in a row only having the option for so many courses is not healthy for the body and neither for the wallet. Why not offering some a-la carte options for the not so big eater?
And at Xmas morning, we were not allowed to have a normal breakfast in the hotel, as the only choice was to participate in an all-day Xmas event including late brunch, for which we had no time. So we had a Xmas day without breakfast.
Also, although the interior of the room was very tasteful, it was also done in almost minimalistic style, so that practical use sometimes suffered a bit: for example, there was not even a place in the bathroom to put any toiletry bag somewhere, but on the floor only.
For a hotel with such room-prices, you would expect a little bit more.

setting and room
bad room was too basic and small
3.5
- The location in the forest and the surrounding environment
- The architecture of the castle
- The staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful, he helped us as much as he could for everything
- They had champagne option at the breakfast buffet (?)
- Breakfast was very poor and very expensive for what you get. We were offered a small platter of cheese and ham and it was not fresh but it had changed colour as it seemed that it had been kept out or in the fridge for too long time. They had cereal but there was no milk on the desk, you had to ask for it. It had only a few options to choose. For €30 euro per person it was very disappointing.
- The amenities in WC and shower were very minimal apart of the bathrobe and the sleepers.
- The water bottles in the fridge that were offered for free were half empty and opened from the previous tenants and were not replaced. I had to go down to the reception to ask for new
- We were not given a key card for the room as the system was not working when we arrived (it was midnight) so they came upstairs to open the door for us. And we got a key card next day in the morning.
- The parking is a bit far from the castle and you need to drag the suitcases up to the castle.

Beautiful hotel, very well refurbished. Bar was very cool.
Room was excellent and the staff very friendly.
Quite disorganised dinner service, should have had staff designated to individual tasks i.e. a sommelier serving wine, someone else serving food and someone else clearing. 6 course tasting menu took 4 hours…
Need to improve communication between bookings and kitchen/waiting staff, we had informed the hotel of my husband’s fish allergy but he was served fish twice.
Will be nice when they have enough staff to open the bistro so that you could have a bigger choice of what to eat rather than only the tasting menu.
A spa would be nice, but I do understand they have only been open since last August and there are still things to do.

It's rarely that the pictures of the rooms actually hold up in reality, but here they do! Rooms are so nicely done and I can't wait to go back. Breakfast was a perfect combination of menu and buffet for the rest.
