Housed in an eighteenth-century building facing the Sé Cathedral in the heart of Lisbon's Alfama district, this quirky home is full of historic character and charm. Compact yet bright and open, the living room feels distinctly Meditteranean with its low bench-style sofas, shuttered windows and small steps leading to a pair of Juliet balconies, proffering views of the Tagus River. Climb the wooden stairs to the elegant mezzanine bedroom where a small bridge leads to two perfectly positioned window seats to feast on the views in comfort. When you’re not enjoying a home-delivered breakfast around the stylish bistro-style dining table, or sitting pretty in your living room and bedroom, go out to explore the historic sights around you. São Jorge Castle is just an eight-minute walk away, while the Time Out Market Lisboa is a twenty-minute stroll from your door. With countless restaurants, bars and cultural sights just a stone's throw away, and your concierge able to arrange wine tours, at-home massages, Tagus River cruises and surf lessons, this apartment is perfect for a couple or solo traveller looking to get the most out of the city’s action. Home truths: * The wi-fi is a bit on the slow side – the old building doesn’t allow for fibre optic cable to be installed * There is a flight of stairs to access the mezzanine bedroom, so it won’t be suitable for those with limited mobility * The shower head is a bit old fashioned and isn’t as powerful as we’d like *Cots and high chairs are available for an additional €20 *You'll have access to a concierge service that can arrange breakfast deliveries, cruises on the Tagus, surf lessons, beach kits, Fado concert tickets, helicopter flights, wine tours, at-home massages and more
