The location was excellent - at a calmer end of the village, next to the marsh area, only a few minutes walking from the beach. The terrace of our room was facing the beautiful marsh, with a spectacular sunrise and lots of birds-spotting opportunities. It was quiet and calm, the AC and fan kept us fresh at night, the hammock on the terrace was a lovely place to rest too. In general the place seemed clean, new, modern, yet simple and authentic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was sad to leave!
Kitchen could have been a little bit better equipped (e.g. there was only one cutting knife).

A bit overpriced

The room itself was nice enough. Staff friendly. Better to get a place when you arrive. The North beach is much nicer than the town and there are quite a few nice places not online.
Location isn't great. Quite noisy. Lots of building happening. The rooms are not at all sound proof. All the guests were French. No issue with the French but would be nice to have variety of cultures.

Staff is very friendly and supportive. The view on the swamp is amazing (but it also stinks a lot). The design of the place is really nice (not very practical though). It is also located in a quiet part of the town.
Additionally we got a bigger room than ordered which was nice.
Some of the rooms are not located right at the swamp, but actually on the land. Ours was one of it. There is a small terrace there but it borders with another property. As the fence is not very high (on the other side of ours was a pile of wood) and you are unable to close the door (nor lock it or fully close it, there is like 15cm break left) then it makes you feel really insecure (trust me, a 5 year old could jump over the fence). When we asked the staff why it is like that, they said 'it's the design'. Additionally, on our last morning neighbours decided to put a fire out of plastic bottles right next to our room...
Walls don't end up at the ceiling but a couple of cms below - both interior and exterior. It makes you hear everything what happens outside as well as what other guests are doing (and I do mean everything).
Internet was almost non existent, it worked only for 15min after reseting the router.

Very helpful and nice staff. Especially Carlos, he can organise everything!
Rooms are very basic but you have fans, big bed, mosquito net, shower and great view! (We were upstairs with mangroves view). Kitchen well equipped and you have fresh coffee made every morning. 2min to the beach.
There is nowhere to put your bags as rooms are very small or not much place to hang you wet swimsuit or towels.
Unfortunately other travelers making noise, don't clean shoes from sand and smoke cigarettes while it's prohibited but this is just behaviour issue not the place itself.

Honestly, I love every detail about this place! When I arrived, I had already spent some days in Rincon Del Mar at one of the hostels by the ocean (which was supernice) but Casa en La Cienaga topped with a different, great experience. A very quiet, classy hostel facing the mangroves, offering a beautiful sunrise every morning. Room was great too, clean and spacious and light. I extended my stay. Recommend!

bed was a bit hard for us

Located on the edge of the mangrove, it seems to be shielded from the loud music blasting in town. I loved that the room had an enclosed terrace that could be closed off from the room.
The bathrooms smelled terrible from the swamp water flowing through the pipes. I had to hold my breath if I wanted to use the restroom.

Paradise. Location. View. Staff. Room.
Nothing. All wonderful. A lot of mosquitoes but that has nothing to do with the accommodation.

The staff was really nice! The bed was ok. Location was good too.
Neighbours are really noisy. No water in the tap in the bathroom. No filtered water.

- Nice clean rooms, very comfortable beds with mosquito nets
- Very nice kitchen/social area
- Staff was super friendly and helpful
- Good value for money
- located 2mins walking to the beach but with a nice view of the mangroves
- My room had a small terrace and you couldn't 100% close the door so it kind of felt like you're outside
- not the ideal place for a solo traveller but you do meet fellow travellers in town at lunch, the beach, for tours or at one of the hostel bars

It is a comfortable place to rest in middle of a native population. This place is near the beaches, restaurants and principal street.
Due to most of the places are next to a lake, when the day is so sunned, the temperature feels hot. However, in this hostel, the wind is high and the sensation gets more attenuated.
