Pet Policy:
Here at Open Hearth Inn we welcome your four-legged family member. However, we ask you to help us with the following pet rules while staying with us.
1. Please don't leave your pet in the rooms unattended.
Why? Because they miss you and from our experience of being professional hosts since the 90's, when they are lonely they howl or bark causing others to lose the quiet enjoyment on the property. Lonely pets also use the bed or other furniture to snuggle on while you are away. This is super tough for our housekeepers to remedy because blankets or comforters need to be washed or replaced, also furnishings can take hours to remove hair from so we can present a clean space for the next guest.
Maine is a very pet friendly place and since you brought them on vacation we hope you keep them with you so they can enjoy "Vacation Land" as much as humans do.
2. Please pick up all the poop/excrement they may have.
3. Please have your pup on a leash when enjoying the common areas.
4. Please try to refrain your dog from barking.
We have dog treats, extra poo bags and a water bowl in the common room.
*There will be an additional cleaning fee charged if your pet makes a mess of the room or the bedding. We hope that you and your four-legged family member have a great stay here at Open Hearth Inn.
No other notes. Feel free to ask any questions. :)

We had a very enjoyable time. The hosts were excellent and responded to our requests quickly in text. We kicked off a fire in the pit, quiet, and place was very clean. The reason for the 4 stars is it is definitely an older property (1950s) and the beds were super firm. We plan to go again but try the individual canins. we found the beds super firm. We plan to go a

Our room was really nice, and very welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

I wish I had gone directly to the website and booked with you. Those VRBO fees add up. Clean spot, good proximity to Acadia but a bit loud from road and airport noise. I also wish there had been a better lock on the door. Seemed a bit flimsy.

The property is dated but met out vacation needs. It was clean, comfortable and close to Acadia, with a more reasonable price than Bar Harbor. The room was also plenty big for our family of 5. We were out at 8am and returned at 8pm each day. The managers were extremely nice and easy to communicate with through email or phone. I would return.

They knew we were visiting Acadia National Park. When we entered the room, there was a note and a week's NP pass for us to use. We only used it for one day. So we took the pass back to the lounge and posted it so someone else can take advantage of it. Laundry facility was a great help after a week of wind jammer cruise. We will return if we ever go back to that side of the country.

This room was just perfect for my two daughters ( adults) their favorite in the area! Thank you!

We stayed at this place for one night. If you are looking for updated accommodations, this is not your place. If you are looking for a place to lay your head that fits 5 people and want to spend your time in Acadia, this place is perfect.

The bathroom only had soap at the sink. No bath products in the shower. The a/c window unit did not fit the opening so I had to use towels to close the gaps to the outside. It was a very basic unit. Clean but no extras.

My friends and I (and my dog) are on a road trip through the Northeast and stopped here for a few days to see Bar Harbor and Acadia. The room met all of our needs. It was extremely easy to check in because of the owner’s frequent and specific communication. The beds were extremely comfortable, which was nice after all the driving and exploring. It was very clean and very easy to get anywhere in the area from there. It’s set up very much like a roadside inn (because it is one). Having a laundry room was an unexpected bonus. I was also very happy that it was dog friendly. There’s also a really great bakery and a wonder lobster pound right across the street to get food. Or you can use the shared kitchen and grill. I appreciate the excellent accommodations!

Overall things were great. The room was spacious and comfortable. The location is right where we wanted to be. And for a weekend of hiking, all was perfect. I dealt with texting property management just twice and got fast responses. The first was because of snow-covered steps to the room when we arrived. I wouldn’t have called had a broom been in the room so we could take of it (suggestion). Someone came out and cleaned off the steps as well as put salt down - but enough salt for the parking lot! The whole purpose of my calling initially was to avoid tracking in the snow/water. We tracked way more salt in, which was a bit messy. Again, a broom would’ve been handy. The second call was because we broke a bottle and I wanted to avoid anyone cutting themselves. Both calls were quickly addressed. Outside of that, there was no one around. We didn’t use any amenities as we didn’t see any and thought they were closed for the winter. That hot tub would’ve been nice after climbing Cadillac Mountain! It is winter and everything is messy this time of year, so we are considering that. The only other “complaint” if I were to actually make one was the bathroom fan. That was disgusting. Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time as the bent are dusty and grungy. But overall, we had a great stay. Thank you!
