The cabin was very nice and comfortable, had everything that was needed. We will be returning. I enjoyed it being on the canal, anytime I wanted to fish I could. Great

We had an amazing weekend of fishing with our kids. The house was just as pictured! Everything was clean, there were plenty of supplies and essentials that many houses don’t have included which was a nice surprise. The owner was kind and greeted us when we arrived and came out and turned the lights on for us to do some night fishing. The fishing was great, we caught a variety of fish as well as a few crabs. If you’re looking a simple getaway with some good fishing this is a great option. We look forward to returning in the future.

Property owner was great. Meet her just after we arrived. Very sweet and welcoming. House was clean when we arrived. A few mosquitos and beetles the first night but not a big deal. We were out all day the 2nd day and night 2 was the problem. When we went to lay down main room was full of mosquitoes in every corner of the ceiling. 25-30 at least. Upstairs rooms had mosquitoes but also small black beetles all over the ceiling above the beds. We tried for about 30 minutes to get rid of them but they just kept appearing. We ended up leaving at 330 am that night and skipped the 3rd night all together. I messaged the owner and her response was "we just had someone stay here before you with no problems". So all and all we paid for 3 nights and ended up staying 1. Trip was a total bust.

We wanted a cozy place to stay close enough to a beach to see the ocean that was not too full of people. The fishing was not great but that was just bad timing with the weather and season. Host was accommodating to early check in and night fishing. When we come back to Texas we will certainly look for this place again. We are in a grungy campground outside of Dallas on our way home and already wishing we had spent an extra day at fisherman’s isle!

My wife, son and I stayed here for four days and absolutly loved it. The cabin itself was a great place to stay and was very well stocked with anything you might need. The fresh eggs were a great touch and probably my wifes favriot thing. Being able to step outside and fish from the back dock was really nice. They also have a private lighted pier across the street on the river. I highly recomend this place. We will be back.

Nice, quiet village. The cold was a bit challenging for fishing, but still managed to catch a few on the docks, that are for guest's use as part of your stay! Iverna & Randy (owners) are right across the driveway and were very welcoming...along with the help of that stinker Billy Earl! LOL... Good spot overall!

My sister and I enjoyed our stay at the Rustic Island fishing cabin. The picture of the cabin does not do it justice. It is indeed a beautiful cabin, beautifully decorated on the inside. As we were unloading the car, Iverna greeted us in the driveway. She was very friendly and made us feel so welcome. Fresh yard eggs and wine were on the table to greet us. She lives across the street and it was a blessing to be able to talk to her when needed, even though we had no real issues. The house was neat, clean and inviting. We felt right at home. When we were checking out, Iverna brought us a freshly filleted red fish to take home with us. Too bad I can only give this host a five star rating, because she deserve much more. I will be booking again soon.

Overall the experience was not bad. We were able to travel to areas that proved to be very good. Biggest down was the distance to everything. This is a fishing cabin and should be represented as such. The location is nearly 10 miles from everything including the nearest town. The cabin is decorated very well with lots of things related to fishing and water.
The bathroom needs to be updated with a new stool (it is the size for midgets) Also being from central U S we were not used to saving toilet paper which is not very sanitary. It would take me 15minutes to change the refrigerator door, it is backwards to the room.
We were there 4 days before we stumbled on to the internet password. There were a lot of instruction on do's and don't's but no mention of the internet being available.
It was represented on the outside as it may be handicap accessible yet on the inside the bathroom was definitely not with a step up into the shower and the stool was not at all.

For a family visiting from the UK seeking a property that was away from it all and a more traditional experience it was ideal. Our favourite part was talking together outside watching the spectacular sunsets. Thank you.

The family and I need a place to unwind and do some fishing and tgis was it. The home is clean and welcoming and the farm eggs were delicious. We were able to fish from the peur and behind the house. We caught a 3ft gator gar along with some catfish and other bait fish and a ton of crab. We had a great time and are looking forward to be back out.

It was awesome thanks for the great experience. We left the wine for someone else to enjoy! Not wine drinkers. Loved the eggs and visit from the turkeys and crabs.

There were fresh eggs and wine waiting for us when we got there. The owner was very helpful on where to fish and places to go with the family in the area. The house had everything that we needed. We will definitely stay again.

Everything was perfect. We came down for a fishing trip and decided to stay here. When we walked thru the door the air conditioning was very welcoming. On the table were farm fresh eggs which we used to make our snapper breakfast tacos. We did not have any gear with us so we were able to borrow some to fish behind the cabin. I will definitely stay here again next time we come down.

We stayed a weekend and had a great time. Everything was as advertised, and the host is incredibly nice. Our daughter loved the chickens, and we enjoyed the cabin. The Dido restaurant mentioned in the ad is great, and we had a lot of fun at the Quintana beach about 40 minutes away. I highly recommend this place!

Ms. Verna was very friendly. Cabin was stocked with everything you might need or have forgot. Made it to cabin with a surprise bottle of wine & eggs from her chickens. Super cute cabin. Only complaint was the storm that hit which wasn't her fault. We had a great time & Ms. Verna even offered to catch us some fresh bait. Highly recommend this little cabin. So cute, on the canal & across the street from the river. Includes crab trap, paddle boat, kayak.

This place provided everything we were looking for to relax and unwind. The neighborhood is very quiet. We did a little fishing right from the deck of this charming little cabin using the poles loaned to us by our gracious hosts. Surfside Beach was beautiful and only about a half hour drive from here. Didos Restaurant has the best seafood and atmosphere right on the San Bernard River. We highly recommend this property and especially want to thank our hosts for sharing it.

Our overall stst was very nice . The place was very clean as advertised. Internet reception wasn't great but it worked. The TV has limited reception of 3 or 4 channels which was a bummer but we don't watch much besides news anyway. Fortunately my laptop worked fine and made up for it. I suggest the owner provide instructions on how the TV they did have worked. But we were there for fishing which was above average. Blue crabs weren't but the fish were in the river and we managed to catch a few nice meep sheepies and drum and a nice redfish . The weather sort of went downhill during our stay but can't control that. Overall we'd stay again of in the area. The host was. very nice and accommodating

Property was as listed but there are several nearby properties in need of repair. Weather was cold, windy and rainy which hampered our plans to fish. 😞. Grandkids enjoyed the experience even though the weather did not cooperate. Would consider another stay here.

Owners are beyond nice! Made sure we had a fire for s’mores every night. House is clean and well maintained. Fishing in the canal and river all easily accessible. We caught 2 decent size black drums, 1 40lb black drum, blue crab and flounder. More than recommend this rental, we will definitely be back!
