We had the BEST time staying here. It’s pretty incredible when 11 adults and two 2-year-olds can share a space and not feel like they’re on top of each other. This home is spacious, gorgeous, well stocked with everything (if we come back, I can bring less random stuff!), and was the perfect getaway for our family. One thing that stood out to me was that there were plenty of private rooms too, when most listings will have several beds in one room and say it sleeps 10. There are so many comfortable rooms for adults here and I know our family really appreciated it. Plus, the kids loved running around all over the place and I felt like they were safe in controlled area.
I can’t say enough nice things about it. I would just say that if you’re considering it… book it!

Place was best fit for our weekend planning and fellowship; sufficient facilities. Further enhanced by a very charming environment as we still caught up with fall foliage.

My family and I go to Arnold for Labor Day weekend and this year we stayed here as our group was a little larger than past years. The cabin was very big and fit me and my family very well. Doug was very helpful with everything and available when we needed him. This cabin is very roomy and comfortable clean and we definitely will be staying here again.

Our family had a great time. We celebrated our Mom’s birthday. The house was clean, spacious and organized. The check-in and check out process was easy. The owners were easy to contact. The beds were comfortable. The young adults in our group enjoyed the game room while the not so old adults enjoyed cooking bbq on the deck. There is a cabinet on top of the mini fridge full of board games. Our family had fun playing read my lips game . There are nearby attractions like the Top of the World trail head, white pines lake, Big Tree State park and a little further away(~40 mins) Lake Alpine ( worth it). There are also nearby stores if you need grocery. We will definitely consider coming back next time.

We arrived with 15 total from adults to teens to a toddler. The house was huge! So much room for everyone to spread out, especially those noisy teenagers who got the basement to themselves. The kitchen was large and we were able to cook around each other with ease. Plenty of seating for dinner, gathering for family time in the living room. We went into Murphy’s where they have a cute Main Street and lovely park by a creek, up to Alpine Lake for a swim and finally Mercer Caverns which was incredible. No helmets needed. Just a few minimal drawbacks were that the driveways were very steep and we were unable to get to the lower driveway in our Tesla to charge and had to find a local place in Murphy’s. Not a huge deal, just a little coordination. The two guest bed mattresses are in need of replacing. One caves inward while the other sloped outward. This is not uncommon in rental properties though and should never deter someone from staying. We had an amazing time. The owner was very responsive and checked in with us. Overall 5 stars!

Overall, we had very good experience with the house. Communication was clear and easy. Spacious house for a big group. Good and secluded location. As recommendation, I would suggest to consider changing dishwasher (not cleaning well) and futon in the office (not comfortable for sleeping).

Everything was exactly as advertised, and the owner was prompt and clear in their communications.

We spend 9 nights here and everything about the home was better than we expected. The location was awesome with trails through the national forest directly behind the house, but still only about 1.5 miles from the grocery store, and restaurants. The house was large comfortable and well appointed. We had 12 people staying with us and it never felt crowded. The adults enjoyed watching the snow fall from the large windows in the living room, while the kids and teens loved the "game room down on the lower level". Our 15 year old son said that the roll away bed in the game room was the most comfortable bed he ever slept on. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook great meals for our friends and family.
The host was available to answer all of our questions very quickly. I could tell that his hearts desire was that we enjoyed the home to the fullest, and we definitely did. We will be coming back.

We had 4 families coming together for a ski weekend together. This was an amazing house that could give each family their own space but also allow us to come together. Wonderful amenities and really well stocked. The kids loved it and were able to go sledding in the back.

Big beautiful home with all the amenities! Our group had a great time playing games out front and on the patio. Loved the swings too! The layout is perfect for a group. Enough room to gather together, plus quite spots to slip away too if you want some down time. The porch in the morning for coffee was sooo relaxing! House has everything you could need. We hope to visit again!

Family Reunion
This is a great property for family gathering. A great space inside and out. Comfortable to stay, visit and play, but also as a home base to head out for the day to visit local parks, lakes, museums, caves, shops, wineries and eateries.

Perfect place to relax and wine down
It was more than what we could of imagined. Everyone enjoyed themselves, it had ample space for everyone to be together and at the same time be alone and relax. The morning and evenings were just perfect to be outside and enjoy the quiet and serenity of the surrounding views. Definitely a great place to stay...

Christmas Getaway
The cabin exceeded our expectations! It had plenty of space for our family of 10 to come together for Christmas, including three young teenagers who did not want to leave. Doug was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. We ran into some issues with leaving due to the snow and steep driveway, but Doug had prepared us beforehand, so luckily, our cars were snow-ready. He also coordinated to have the driveway plowed the day we left.
The kitchen was well equipped to cook Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner. Plus, the dining room table fit us all so we could eat meals together and spend the evenings playing games. The property was beautiful to explore especially when it snowed.
Our family has stayed at several different cabins in the area over the years but decided this is the cabin we will be renting again!
Highly recommend for large families or groups of friends.

Fun time and good stay in Arnold
The house was amazing! Recommend it for large groups or families. It is a well planned vacation home with everything to have a good time -- from the huge kitchen with stocked pantry to the game room to the snow sleds In the garage and the extra large dining table. In the backyard there was even a small hill which was just long enough for the toddlers to sled down. We really appreciated the "extra" touches as well and how clean and new a lot of the items were. Our only comment is the water temperature (lukewarm) in the two bathrooms upstairs. We ended up taking turns using the master bedroom bath which ran a lot hotter.

You won't want to Leave!
I would recommend this luxury home to anyone who is looking for an absolute 5 ⭐ experience. Everything was perfect. Truly. All of our guests were in awe and appreciated the spaciousness, giving everyone their own place to retreat, as well as a huge kitchen, game room and living room for gathering together. This property and surroundings were immaculate with all of the comforts of home and plenty more! We made such wonderful Thanksgiving memories. I was so spoiled to get to cook in that kitchen. Thank you so much for an amazing stay! We didn't want to leave!

A Hidden Gem
We just returned from renting the Grand Retreat and were quite impressed. We were a little skeptical about renting a new VRBO unit with no reviews, and surprisingly the home was nicer than the pictures. The owners were very friendly, and the price was right. We were not disappointed! The house is huge! We had more than enough space for everyone. The setting is very private and serene. We couldn’t even see any neighbors. We even saw deer right outside the door! You are really in the forest. You could tell that many items were newly purchased. We appreciated the cleanliness of the home too.
The house manual was helpful but the only issue we had was the home is so big with so many cabinets and closets that it took a while to figure out where everything was. Maybe the owners should create a map of some sort for us less resourceful people lol.
We will definitely be back!
