About this cabin rental
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Mississippi River while you relax, get cozy, and recharge in this newly decorated modern-rustic cabin situated high on the bluffs above the Mississippi River. Whether it is a family vacation, a girls/guys weekend, or a couples getaway you will enjoy the "Riverview Retreat " inside and out. Take in the views with coffee on the deck in the mornings or sitting around a campfire on the large paved patio with a cold beverage of choice in the afternoon/evenings. There is never a shortage of things to see, whether it is boats and barges going by on the river or birds soaring past the windows!
Plenty of beds to accommodate a group or large family. (3 queens)
Inside we have an indoor kid's play space, featuring a teepee that the kids will love, and toys to accommodate families with younger children. We also have a pack and play crib for babies.
Our patio has a large fire pit, (wood provided) fire starter, and plenty of chairs.
A kitchen table, brand new quartz kitchen countertops, a brand new electric oven/stove, and an outdoor gas grill will give you all the space you need to stay in, cook, and enjoy meals together. Propane is provided for the grill with an extra tank in the event you run out.
A new couch with an open concept floor plan extends the kitchen space to the living room and also includes a smart TV. Watch your favorite team, sitcom, movie, or whatever you are in the mood for!
Our high-speed internet can accommodate zoom meetings, TVs, multiple phones, or whatever you may need to “plugin.”
We are not for from LaCrosse (WI), Lansing (IA), Viroqua (WI).
Bring your UTV and explore Vernon and Crawford counties, or your boat, kayaks, jet skis and explore the mighty Mississippi!
If trout fishing is your aim you should also check out some of the finest coldwater trout streams anywhere: Lansing Clear Creek at Clear Creek Park (1972 South Road on the west edge of town); Wexford Creek (1416 Great River Road) and the French Creek Wildlife Area to name a few. Check with the DNR to find which area streams are stocked on a regular basis.
There is a gas station just down the hill for misc odds and ends, there are local bars for food and drinks. Hit up the Great River Roadhouse for drinks and the best pizza around! If you need groceries or other dining just cruise across the river to Lansing, Iowa and you are certain to find everything you need and some you don’t.

As nearly everyone comments who has stayed here, the view is amazing! The house is very comfortable. With just the two of us, we did not need to use the lower level, but we found the beds in the loft were exceptionally comfortable. Beautiful neighborhood for walks with our dog.

WE MET MY SISTER AND BROTHER IN LAW THERE JUST FOR A NICE GET AWAY. THE PLACE WAS BEAUTIFUL. DECORATED NICELY, AND HAD ALL THE SUPPLIES YOU NEED FOR A NICE STAY. WE BRING OUR OWN BEDDING AND TOWELS. BUT DON’T HAVE TO. THE OUTSIDE AREA WAS GORGEOUS. VERY PEACEFUL WITH LOTS OF GREENERY, TREES AND SINGING BIRDS. WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE A COYOTE AND A FAWN TOO. THE BACK DECK OVER LOOKS OUT OVER THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER, AND THE VIEW IS GORGEOUS. THIS VRBO IS A MUST STAY. COMMUNICATIONS WITH OWNER WAS GREAT. AND I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT.

My wife and I were looking for a tucked out-of-the-way place. We could spend a few days alone and completely kid free. This was perfect and as advertised. Kitchen was well stocked. We brought all of our own food and spent a lot of time on the deck just looking at the view. The view…Amazing!

Riverview retreat was the perfect get away. Views were amazing. Cabin had everything you could need and more. Beds and common areas were super comfortable. Blankets in living room were perfect for cool mornings on the patio. We didn’t get a chance to use the fire pit as it was too windy but perfect setup and views!! Definitely recommend this property!

My husband and I spent a few days here for our 35th wedding anniversary. This VRBO is clean, well-equipped, and very welcoming! The views are incredible and we enjoyed watching many Eagles flying past. The back decks and landscaping were amazing and very appreciated! We will definitely return for another visit and spend more time here. Thank you to the hosts for maintaining a beautiful place!

This was the second time that some friends and I stayed at Joe and Ashley's cabin for a weekend in mid-winter. It was a great little retreat from city life for a couple of days. The cabin was exactly as described, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The view is obviously incredible, and the neighborhood is peaceful. There are great hiking opportunities within a short drive, which made for a perfect day trip, with a quiet evening around the firepit later. Joe was very communicative and even sent a heads up about a sudden change to access to a nearby bridge. Looking forward to a return visit in the future!

My significant other and I wanted to get away to see the Fall colors and have sometime together since the kids are now in school.
The views did not disappoint. The cabin was cozy and well decorated. There is alot of space inside and privacy to be had.
The only disappointments we had were having no coffee/creamer (the machine also requires bottled water), the lower level bed is not comfortable, is loud and killed our back (I actually went to the couch in the middle of the night), the outdoor furniture is not made to be sat on long term and the firewood was not cut nor close to where the fire pit is located. Thankfully we had an ax in the back of the truck to cut some up. Just added to the excitment but people should be made aware of this prior to coming.
Otherwise, beautiful place and had a great time.

Well kept, nicely decorated cabin with gorgeous views. Our toddler loved the play area and having her own little space. It was also great that it was pet friendly so we could bring our dog and enjoy some nearby hiking and family time outside. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice weekend in the Driftless!

We had a great stay at the cabin! If you're looking for a remote cabin that has a phenomenal view, then this is the place for you. The back deck and fire pit were highlights of the property. It was really nice to just kick back and relax in a very quiet spot!

No need to overpack! The cabin literally has everything you’re looking for with a wide range of kitchen utensils, bedding and out door tools. But best off all is the kitchen picture window. You really can’t beat that view!

This log cabin was the perfect place for a little get away. It has an awesome view over the river and decorated to make you feel at home. The drive up to the cabin is so neat! We very much enjoyed our stay!

Joe’s got it dialed in, folks. This property is pristine. Beautifully updated, spotless, bright, spacious. The details are thought out completely. Everything u need, nothing you don’t. Hang out on that deck and all you hear is either the birds during the day or the crickets at night. Even the occasional distant train far below the ridge was a pleasant sound. Joe is super responsive if you text him for anything. The house is secure and the property very private. Friendly folks who live around wave as you pass. The towns of De Soto and Lansing are both quaint and calm. You need to seriously get away and relax for a few? I’m telling ya, this is the spot. 100/10, would/will stay here again.

This Property had everything needed for a relaxing getaway. Close proximity to boat launch. Great View. House was amazing and well stocked with everything you could need. Fun restaurants nearby. We had a fantastic time and plan to return.

Convenient location. it should be noted that bedrooms are either up or down stairs so if stairs are a problem for you, you should take that into account. temperature variations are as noted in the prior review, so, if you are sensitive to that, you should take that into consideration as well. Well-kept and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Responsive owner. I would recommend for a great stay! Peaceful and fun watching the birds.

Comfortable furniture. Great for down time and bird watching during migration. Quiet. Dog owners should pay more for better cleanup of fur on furniture and floors. Needs dual handrails suitable to help get up and down steep stairs. Very warm upstairs and cold downstairs. My friends said they would stay again. Nice kitchen area and living room. Great showers.

Beautiful cabin! We have never used VRBO before. This host literally has thought of everything from clear instructions on everything in the cabin, checkout process, and having things available that you always don’t think of packing like bottle openers. The area we stayed in was a close drive to many places to explore: Lansing, Prairie Du Chien, Lacrosse, Viroqua. The view from the Cabin was phenomenal .

We had an absolutely amazing stay at this beautiful cabin. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary gadgets to prepare our meals.
The bedrooms and living room were comfortable and inviting.
The view from the dinning room/kitchen was breathtaking!
The location was great for going out and exploring the Driftless area.
We highly enjoyed our weekend getaway and hope to return for another stay; hopefully a few days longer.

Beautiful location sitting on a bluff overlooking the mighty Mississippi. The property was also very nice. Nice size kitchen if you enjoy cooking! I only wish we could’ve used the pot belly stove. We stayed in January and it would’ve been nice. We were told we couldn’t use it for insurance reasons, but there were instructions for guests on how to use it. A little confusing.. All in all, we’d love to come back in the summer with our Kayaks.

Four of us stayed in the cabin for a long weekend. Plenty of room and very comfortable for everyone. Really enjoyed having Alexa. Played our favorite music while we play many hands of cards. Would definitely recommend the property to our friends.

Everything about this stay was wonderful! The view can't be beat and the cabin was very clean and comfortable. The host was extremely friendly and responsive and I will definitely be back. It was a great stay and I highly recommend this site.

Great cabin on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River in the heart of the Driftless region!

We stayed three nights in this comfortable, cozy house. Great views out the main floor windows looking for eagle and watching it snow. The driveway was plowed immediately after it stopped snowing and we had no trouble getting out. We enjoyed using the woodstove and the kitchen had everything we needed. We would certainly stay again.
