This quiet Dana Point classic is a great house in a great little neighborhood. Recently renovated, with great attention to its design and details, it has beautiful wood floors and lots of enormous windows to let the classic California sunshine in so this home feels light and airy. City of Dana Point Permit #ST21-1203.
Your front yard is Sunset Park with a playground and an ocean view beyond. Sit on the front porch and enjoy watching the sunset, all while the children enjoy safe places to play at the playground or in the beautiful back yard.
This cottage is only minutes from all the best beaches, shopping, and recreation southern California has to offer. It’s location halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego makes 1-day trips to Los Angeles (Universal Studios, Dodger Stadium, Beverly Hills, Hollywood), Anaheim (Disneyland, Anaheim Stadium) and San Diego (Sea World, San Diego Zoo) very doable.
You may want to stay at the cottage and take advantage of the recently renovated, fully equipped kitchen and a beautifully decorated backyard with top of the line teak furniture for al fresco dining anytime.
The dining table has a great distant view of the sunset reflecting on the ocean, and the sun pours in in the morning to make a delightful beginning to the day. It is next to a spacious living room, which is separate from the family room, where the TV is. You may find this to be a great place for finding your calm or just reflecting on your life or what matters to you.
There is also a new, fabulously appointed large patio and a garden with a really nice barbecue off the family room where you can enjoy your meals and entertain if the mood strikes you, or just sink into a chair, put your feet up, and get lost in a book.
There is an epic collection of DVD's (action, adventure, documentary, romantic comedy, kid-friendly), books, (for all ages) and a variety of board games. This family room is separate from the living room so kids and adults can do different things without disturbing one another.
You may be tempted to never leave the property, but remember you're within a mile or two of some of the greatest beaches in California and also the Dana Point Harbor. You'll find plenty of things to do no matter what your taste or mood - golf, tennis, surfing, sport fishing, or sitting on the beach reading – all waiting for you to decide and go for it.
There are two bedrooms with queen beds and a TV room with a queen pull out sofa. This home sleeps six comfortably. There are two baths, one in the house and the other off the patio that is easily accessible.
There's a Trader Joe's down the street along with restaurants and movie theaters. Costco is 10 minutes away. San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Laguna Beach, and Newport Beach are just minutes away if you want to go exploring other areas.
This can be your new home away from home. Imagine great happy hours, stellar sunsets, and endless days relaxing on the beach. It’s Classic Southern California living in a Classic California cottage. Life is good here!

We were visiting my brother who lived nearby, and this house worked out really well. It’s older and not as up to date, but very cute, clean, cozy and comfortable! Playground located across the street and the large patio with grassy back yard a huge hit with my family! House was stocked with everything we needed, including fans for warmer days and blankets for cooler nights. We plan to stay again on our next trip out! Note we also had an issue with the door code when we first arrived and the phone was answered immediately with problem solved. That was a huge plus in my book!

We love to cook together and the backyard patio and bbq made it easy to enjoy the outdoors. The view of the ocean from the dining/living room was beautiful. Peaceful and quiet neighborhood.

Great place to congregate

Loved the location, the backyard was fantastic for our dogs and toddler too. There were a few things of concern (like the front railing needs to be repaired and an indoor lock needs to be installed on the front door) but overall it was a great stay and a great property. Definitely would stay here again!

Clean, convenient. Wonderful yard.

We vacated this property after less than 30 minutes and are now dealing with horrendous customer support in receiving a refund from Vacasa. Upon entering the home, we immediately smelled an unclean odor that made it hard to breathe. We then noticed bugs that looked like cockroaches around the window sills in the bathroom and living areas. In the backyard space, there was animal waste left on the property. All the furniture pieces had stains on them that smelled of animal urine and were unsafe to sit on. Throughout the house, there are signs stating that the plumbing in the house is not good and guests will be charged for any plumbing issues that occur. Further, the trash bins were completely overfilled making it impossible to even utilize the bins were we to stay. We immediately called customer support for VRBO and for Vacasa, stating the unsanitary conditions of the home, and shared the voluminous photos we took of the cockroaches, stains, and animal waste, then booked a different property in Newport Beach via a different service. Again, we did not stay at the property for longer than 30 minutes though we had booked for a full week. We have asked for an immediate refund to which Vacasa and VRBO have been ignoring our calls, and are taking necessary steps to ensure not only that we are refunded but that this property is delisted until it is safe for people to use.

A very quaint property with a great backyard. The 2nd bedroom is not in the house but located in the garage. Some of the windows don't lock.
With that said we loved our stay.

Great location and the house has good bones but does need some tender loving care. Great backyard and beautiful park across the street for kids and dogs. Backyard is need of a hose with a nozzle to keep the area clean.

The good: excellent water pressure, plenty of parking, huge yard for dogs, plenty of towels, white bedding. The bad: This is NOT a two bathroom house! There is a second bathroom jerry-rigged into the back of the garage. Come on! No one is using that. The place was clean but is in dire need of a deep clean - appliances are very old and need de scaling etc. Plates are chipped, there are strangely no teaspoons. Furniture is mis-matched and very dated/dingy. There is also too much of it and every surface has tchotchkes on it so it's hard to find a place to set your personal items down - less would definitely be more. This place desperately needs a re-fresh. Then it would be fantastic.

Loved the location/view. It was just what we needed. Puppies loved the back yard and low windows to look out! Would live here if we could!

We've stayed here multiple times and enjoy it. Great location. Some amenities are missing or broken but it's a fine place to stay.

Perfect location for us, just down the street from family. Home was very clean, water pressure in the shower was amazing and we had plenty of space for us. Heater was a little funky but we were very comfortable.

The house was in a great location. Having the park across the street and a quick drive to Doheny was great. Bring your own gear though. I would say that the dog pee either in the carpet or the couch and the ant spray smell needs to be addressed. We bought candles opened all windows but the smell persisted. Also investing in either larger beds or better fans would be good. There is no AC in the house and with heat and humidity our party had a difficult time sleeping. The house being dog friendly was awesome and the yard is terrific for entertaining and having meals outside!! Just a note for dog owners there are large birds of paradise in the backyard and they are toxic to dogs.

This is our third stay here. Nice house in a nice location. Upgraded amenities would be a plus.

This house is in a great location near the 5, and it has a large fenced back yard, as well as a park across the street, north of which are great for dogs. However, we had no heat more than half our stay. The thermostat is erratic, and we spent lots of time trying to get it going, only occasionally with success. The house was unpleasantly cold in the morning. The management company was not able to fix this our entire 2 week stay. The house is old and funky. Both sofas are old and uncomfortable, and the sleeper sofa is unfit for anyone to sleep on. A grandchild was on it for one night and was very uncomfortable.
The kitchen is weirdly stocked. Too few glasses, no teaspoons. The seconds bathroom is inside the garage, on the opposite side from the bedrooms. It was essentially unusable. I would not recommend this house unless you are okay roughing it.

Big fenced backyard that my dog loved to run in. Across the street from a park in a quiet neighborhood. Close to shopping but not close to the beach which we didn’t mind. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is there are repairs that should have been done prior to our arrival. The main bathroom door will not completely shut or lock and the 2nd bathroom is in the garage. The back screen door would not close or latch so I could not leave the door open for fresh air. The sofa bed is great for kids but mattress was old and worn. I would stay here again if repairs were done.

The beds & linens; good hot water & pressure (we were prepping for several family events) proximity to all our venues, patio. On the flip side, accessing bathroom via not convenient; front door lock operations not consistent with the instructions not convieinet & left us feeling less than safe; non-bedroom furniture neither comfortable nor inviting (did not appear clean nor fresh); some very basic amenities for travelers such as coffee filters; sink stopper in main bathroom missing;

We stayed in this lovely house just across the sunset park near Dana point. The location is excellent, within 3 mins to get onto I-5 and 7 mins drive to Dana Point pier for sport fishing. This house is a bit old, but very comfortable. The second bathroom located in the garage is a huge plus for our family of five. The backyard is spacious with a nice grill and grass for activities.

Great Location!
This house was perfect for our stay while we remodeled our home. It was very quaint and in a great location. Loved sitting on the porch watching the ocean! Vacasa was very responsive with any questions or problems we had.

Please read before booking
I unfortunately booked this home before it had any reviews. Note this is an old home with not many upgrades.
Listing shows 2 bathrooms. "Accessible off the backyard " but it does not mention that you need to go outside or thru the garage to get to it.
Main bathroom shower is hung very low. I'm 5'5" and have to duck under the shower head.
Some Kitchen cabinet doors and drawers do not stay closed on it's own. Dishwasher has major lime scale and does not look clean at all.
Windows are very old and unpainted. Some doors do not close properly.
The mattresses are ok as in comfort, but quite dirty.
Only upside to the home is the location. Otherwise we did not feel comfortable or clean staying here. We did not enjoy our stay at all and I do not recommend this home.

Great house.
Great house with beautiful backyard for the pups to play.

Uncomfortable home
Location was good, home was old and smelled musty. Mattresses were terrible, mildew around tub and shower. Home needs a deep cleaning. Checked out a day early because it was uncomfortable.
