About this house rental
Beautiful Three Bedroom/Two & 1/2 Bathroom Home; Sleeps 8 - Along the River and Close To Town.
Enjoy this 2600 square foot custom-finished log home in the San Juan Mountains in beautiful Lake City Colorado. Rock the afternoon away on the covered front porch or enjoy the sunny 440 sq. foot deck overlooking the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River with patio table and umbrella, gas grill and beautiful views of Round Mountain and Red Mountain. Relax to the sound of the river flowing by the rustic gazebo. This home was completed in 2007 with granite countertops, stained glass accents, hardwood floors, 22 foot vaulted aspen ceilings and is situated on seven town lots. Lake City is truly a mountain paradise!
The kitchen is fully equipped including cookware, mixer, dishes, crockpot, pancake griddle, dishwasher, trash compactor, and a warming drawer. The new gas grill is just outside the double glass doors leading from the kitchen to the deck. The intimate dining room will seat 6 - 8 people with additional seating for two at the granite-topped island.
The master suite has double glass doors leading to a deck overlooking the river and a lovely king-sized mattress. The private bath has double sinks with a tub/shower with a glass door. The art glass window provides a wonderful mountain breeze.
The upstairs bedroom with queen bed and private balcony affords magnificent views of the river and canyon. The second upstairs bedroom has a queen bed with views of the town. Between the two bedrooms is a spacious, shared bath with doors from each bedroom. Each bedroom has a huge walk-in closet as well. This large, shared bath has double pedestal sinks separated by a granite top vanity. The tub/shower combination with glass doors and toilet are in a separate room. These two upstairs bedrooms lead into the large loft furnished with a rustic-but-new pool table with a catwalk leading to an electronic Yamaha keyboard. All beds have heated mattress pads, and there is central heat for your comfort as well.
The upstairs bedrooms were designed to have naturally circulating air. What this means is that each of the two upstairs bedrooms have 20 foot vaulted ceilings, and the air from the two rooms escapes upward. And the center wall of each of the rooms is 9 feet tall. However, part of the ceiling of each of the two rooms is open so that air escapes and naturally circulates with all of the air in the home. This creates a natural, circulating air system that keeps the temperatures extremely comfortable. Although these two rooms are side-by-side, there are two closets and a bathroom separating them. Because of the design (and ceiling fans in both upstairs rooms and two over the loft), even snoring & conversation can generally not even be detected outside of your bedroom.
There is ample parking for multiple vehicles including an RV area with both 30 and 50 amp service and a carport. A lockable 180 sq foot storage room off the carport gives you ample space to safely store bicycles, coolers, and sporting gear out of the weather. There are 5 bicycles (including a child's bike) and an air pump for your enjoyment.
The upstairs loft with skylights and mountain-view windows is stocked with Monopoly, puzzles, cards, UNO, Phase 10, Skipbo, and a collection of various novels. This is a great getaway area to spend undisturbed time on a puzzle or enjoy a book in the comfortable chair with your feet up on the ottoman. The new 46' Sony Bravia LCD television in the great room has a PlayStation 3 with 2 controllers that plays both traditional CD and Blue Ray discs (bring your own games or extra controllers for hours of fun!).
The laundry room is equipped with washer, dryer, ironing board, iron and clothes rack. Limited laundry detergent is also supplied.
With the cabin situated in the old historic district, you are within a few blocks of the downtown area, post office, multiple eating establishments, churches, town parks, coffee shops, post office, fly fishing shop, quaint shops, visitors' center, movie theater, and new state-of-the-art medical center. So relaxing to just to keep your car parked and watch the fawns frolic through town!
The town of Creede (outstanding theater in the summer, restaurants, shopping art galleries, excellent fly fishing & guides) is about an hour to the south, and the larger ski-towns of Gunnison (50 miles to the north) and Crested Butte (1 1/2 hours north) are fun day trips with river rafting (check out Taylor River in Gunnison), restaurants (Garlic Mike's in Gunnison), and many specialty shops. The coffee bistro and Colorado-style Mexican food at Donita's in Crested Butte are family favorites. All three of these small towns--Gunnsion, Creede, and Crested Butte are easy day trips from Lake City. For those wanting a national park experience, a day hike through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison is guaranteed not to disappoint.
You'll be sure to thoroughly enjoy your stay in this picturesque mountain town which is truly a step back in time.

We love Lake City, and staying at this particular property (Mountain Memories) took us back to our first stay, in 2019, when we stayed next door (The Ritz) - this smaller property was perfect for our smaller party - we hope to be back next year!

We stayed with a total of 2 families and grandma. We had plenty of room to spread out and everyone had their own bed. The kitchen was big enough for of all of us to be in there cooking, cleaning, etc. The cabin was well stocked and exceeded our expectations with what was available. The kids enjoyed the fire pit and making s’mores. The sound of the river from the porch was amazing. The location was perfect as well. We rode for 4 days and having easy access to both Engineer and Cinnamon pass made our rides easy. We enjoyed going into town and checking out the brew pub as well as the soda company for ice cream and Italian cream sodas. We will for sure book here again next time.

Wonderful Vacation
We've been to Lake City many times over the years but this is the first time we have stayed in a house in town. The property was amazing. Walking distance to everything, access to the river, etc. It was very clean and comfortable and well-stocked with supplies. Will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful home & location
Lovely, updated home. Kitchen is well stocked. Great space for three couples. Beautiful deck and backyard with firepit down by the water. Even with the state-wide fire ban, we enjoyed sitting by the river after a long day of riding. The open loft design for the upstairs bedrooms with Jack & Jill bathroom does lend to a feeling of loss of privacy. Only complaint is there are no locks on the upstairs bathroom doors and water closet.

Mountain Serenity
This was such a lovely cabin surrounded by mountains and a cute town. My husband had just passed away, so a friend who lost her husband recently joined me.on this trip, It was just what we needed after a sad and stressful month, with such beauty and serenity around us. We wished we could bottle the perfect weather. Janet Jansen

Beautiful and Immaculate Home Was Perfect for Us
Joslyn, Our family's two-week stay at the Riverfront Cabin in June was so refreshing. The cabin was more beautiful than the photos on VRBO, decorated with many lovely artworks and big windows to let in natural light. Everything inside was well organized and very clean. The labels for light switches and ceiling fans helped. The kitchen had enough dishes, silverware and mugs for a regiment, plus every tool imaginable. My son some sharp knives and a big cast-iron skillet. He didn't need either but used his favorite big skillet anyway. Everything in the kitchen worked well, and there's a work island with dining space for two.The huge walk-in pantry was helpful for sorting and storing our food, paper goods, and ice chests. We appreciated the spices, sugar, and other basic items on hand. We (6 adults: 2 couples and 2 singles) used all the bedrooms and the office couch-bed. Beds were comfortable and had lots of extra pillows. Walk-in closets had plenty of shelf space and clothes racks plus a generous supply of extra bathroom towels and washcloths. We had a blast playing ping pong upstairs, rocking on the front porch, sitting in the gazebo by the river, using thepiano keyboard, and watching deer that came to the yard most days. The outdoor grill was not in usable condition when we arrived, so we tried a couple of times to clean the grill rack. We then called the manager's office, who brought a replacement grill the next day. It was such a pleasure to be with our family in this spacious, beautiful home. I was inspired by the artworks on several walls. One was a local artist, so we browsed his gallery on Silver Street and bought some treasures for our own home. We also enjoyed Lake City's shops and restaurants. We recommend Southern Vittles for good old home-style cooking. Their BBQ and fried okra were outstanding! And of course we repeatedly visited the San Juan Soda Company for yummy ice cream and snow cones. Our only disappointment in town was that the mini-golf course never opened before we left on June 20, although the course had been cleaned and readied for use. We did hikes, jeep rides in the mountains, saw 2 plays at the repertory theater in Creede, and enjoyed movies at the local theater both weekends. The museum was bigger and better than ever.
Thanks for allowing us to use your home for a great family vacation.

Outstanding!
This is a beautiful property! We stayed for nearly a week, and loved it. House is very tastefully decorated, top of the line appliances and sparkling clean. Kitchen was very well stocked, I really can't think of anything that I would change about it. Walking distance to downtown Lake City. Owner and management were very helpful. Highly recommend!

Wonderful cabin on river and in town, the best of both worlds!
We loved our stay at Mountain Memories riverfront cabin. The cabin was comfortable and well appointed. We had more than we needed in regards to kitchen appliances and other household necessities. I can't say enough about the location of this cabin. We have stayed in many places in Lake City but this one was special. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch listening to the river and being able to walk to town attractions was so enjoyable and convenient. We visit Lake City every year in September (to mark our wedding anniversary and attend the Wine & Music festival) and we would love to stay at this cabin again.

Fantastic Home!
This Riverfront cabin is wonderfully situated in Lake City, close to shops, restaurants and trails. The amenities are beyond compare with a well stocked kitchen, a walk-in pantry, abundant outdoor seating and a pool/ping pong table. I would definitely rent this house again!

Wonderfully comfortable home in the beautiful San Juan Mountains!
Family members gathered from all across the USA to rest, relax, visit, eat, fish, hike and take in the Wine and Music Festival. Riverfront Log Cabin was the perfect spot for us. The weather was wonderful allowing us to enjoy the outside patio areas as well as the lovely cabin itself. We hope we can stay here again in the future.

Wonderful Place to Enjoy Lake City!
This is one of the best vacation rentals we have stayed at in the Rockies. A lovely home in the heart of Lake City that has everything. Joslyn has covered all of the bases with wonderful towels, linens, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry and decorated to perfection. An easy walk to some of the nicer restaurants in town but just enough off the main drag to make for a very quiet river setting. Internet speed was great... 12Mp down, 1.5 up and very reliable which made running our business remotely a dream. Thanks Joslyn for answering all of our questions. We really enjoyed our stay at your lovely Colorado home.

The perfect vacation home!
What a great place to stay. My family felt at home right away. It's beautiful but cozy as well. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook several large meals. The grill worked great. The decks on front and back are so relaxing. My son fished from our back yard. We used the provided bicycles to enjoy the path behind the house. This is a great home and we hope to always stay here when we return to lake city.

Lovely as always
This is our fourth stay with this owner--the second in this particular cabin. This cabin is clean and well stocked with an unbeatable location. It is right on the river within walking distance of everything. The effort of the owner and manager to make sure you are well cared for is what really sets this place apart. An excellent choice for a memorable family vacation!
