From start to finish, everything was perfect. From communication, checking, stay and check out - could not have asked for nicer hosts, or place to stay.

Spending time in this a beautiful cottage on the river side was the perfect end to our summer travels. Matt and Marisol goes way above and beyond with their hospitality. Greeting us at our arrival, making us felt welcomed, like celebrities. The cottage has absolutely everything that would need for your stay away from your home. We travel with kids and we always cook, we had everything that wee needed even olive oil and Tupperware.
The cottage is well named pristine, because it was the cleanest VRBO that we ever stayed in.( we stay in VRBOs several times a year). Roo the sweetest dog was a definitet plus.

The cottage was clean and the hosts were great and they walked our dog for us while we were out for a day trip. I cannot say enough about the experience and the fishing was great from the dock. Our dog Tide had a great time.

This property was very nice, cottage was clean and neat. We enjoyed the river, fire pit, dock, kayaking and pedal boat! As stated, Property owner was on site and very accommodating. This is a great place for relaxation, As stated in the summary, the hill to get to the river is a bit steep but not a problem for active people!

Spent 6 days in this perfectly situated cottage out in the pines, by the river! The hosts were friendly and attentive and welcomed Mister Max, my nervous doggy, with open arms! Everything you would need is in the cottage and if you're outdoorsy, you have options outside, too!Hoping to see you again!

I will start off by saying that my plans for the weekend were to fish, fish and then fish some more from their dock and along the bank. It rained almost the entire stay. I'm talking about a cold rain with very high winds which made fishing basically impossible. I still had a great time! This place has a great location, we brought the dog and the hosts were very dog friendly. He had the best time of all exploring nature and interacting with the host dog. Speaking of hosts ours were great, they made us feel very welcome and encourage us to take advantage of the amenities. They apologized a few times for the weather as if they had any control over that. I'll have to return and hope for better weather so I can fish, fish and then fish some more.

My friend Cyndy and I always look forward to our annual get togethers in New Bern, as has become our tradition, but this stay was particularly lovely. The River Cottage is a getaway unto itself. No need to leave, unless you wish to try out local restaurants of which there are many. The cottage is clean, quiet, up-to-date and very cozy. We spent some time just hanging out in the cottage but could not resist the lure of the property itself which is right on the Trent River. We relaxed at the top of the hill in two Adirondack chairs watching the river run, the geese fly and the fish jump. We also went down on the dock and sat closer to the water, considering taking the kayaks out but we were too lazy. Our hosts, Marisol and Matt could not have been more gracious. They are there to assist as much or as little as you like. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely go back!

We visited New Bern for our anniversary April 2-7 & this was the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing few days. The guest house was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. It’s only minutes from downtown and several good restaurants. Being able to take our fur baby with us was a plus too! The sunsets across the river were absolutely amazing! Matt & Marisol were the best hosts, making sure we celebrated this milestone together and they were always quick to respond to any questions. Their dog, Roo is a perfect gentleman who loves other dogs. We also felt very safe which is so important when traveling these days and walking our dog. I would definitely rent again, maybe for our next anniversary… ❤️

We had a nice time! It would be nice in the summer to use the kayaks-we did have a little trouble at night navigating, the GPS had the road names wrong- but we got it the second night- and learned our way around, Randy even said he would like a little place like this out on some land- just don't know where? but that is a huge compliment!!

We only had a short stay here as we were road tripping to other places but this was an awesome stop along the way. This is a home on the owners property separate from their house. It had everything we needed to feel like we were at home. It was quiet and peaceful. The waterfront is beautiful to walk down to. We met one of the owners, Marisol who was sweet and welcoming and we appreciated her hospitality. Would 10/10 recommend staying here for a quiet getaway that’s close to New Bern. This is the cleanest property I have ever stayed at!!! Thank you for having us.

You will fall in love with this guest cottage and with Marisol and Matt as well! First, the cottage was immaculate! It is the cutest, coziest vacation rental ever! You can tell immediately that a lot of love and thought went into preparing it for guests. I was happy to see a Keurig coffee maker and all the other things that make a well appointed kitchen. Shortly after arrival the kids were already off on kayaks exploring the river. So appreciative that lifejackets were supplied. There is great fishing right off the dock or you could do some kayak fishing like my son did and we cooked that nights catch on the grill!
It was close to historic New Bern and there was much to see and enjoy! Don't miss out on the New Bern Trolley Tour. It was so nice getting the history of the homes and families of this adorable town! Can't say enough good things about our hosts, the cottage or New Bern! It was a short drive over to Emerald Isle Beach and the water was Caribbean blue the day we went. Ready to come back again!

We booked last minute for our anniversary, the property is gorgeous as is the cute and cozy home. We want to replicate it for our retirement house! It’s comfortable, beautiful and has everything you would need. Marisol, Matt and doggies were so sweet and we loved relaxing and chatting with them. We felt we were at home with old friends. They were so sweet to leave us a nice treat for our anniversary
We will definitely be back, hopefully while house hunting

Wonderful Getaway
Everything was wonderful. Marisol and Matthew were great hosts and their property was perfect for our short trip. The rental and grounds were dog friendly (and Lucy loved their dog Roo) and a short drive to downtown New Bern. Their suggestions for local food were also great! We can't wait for another excuse to book so we can enjoy the river some more.
Thank you!

Cute house / great stay
This house on the river was the perfect destination for my mother’s 80th birthday. We made great memories. Very dog friendly. Our dog loved jumping off the deck and swimming back to the shore with sticks. Would definitely stay here again.
