About this apartment rental
An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square.
Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire.
Standing at the gondola-busy T-junction of the San Zulian and Bareteri canals, and encapsulating 10 dazzling apartments of varying colourway and size, the newly launched Corte Rubbi is but a stroll to some of Venice’s most iconic attractions and countless beguiling vistas on which to feast your eyes!
Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs.
Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include:
Corte Rubbi 3 – on the 2nd Floor reached by stairs – sleeping 2+2
A fabulously quirky, bright and spacious studio apartment with canal views to the fore comprising:
A main living / dining / sleeping area boldly decked out in energising shades of jade green, white and vermilion with Venetian terrazzo flooring underfoot, painted wooden beams hung with a gorgeous Murano chandelier overhead, a fun ‘monkeys and monstera’ feature wall, a glitzy Rococo-style gilt mirror with console table beneath, plus a dining table to the side…
… While the (ingeniously designed!) sleeping arrangements comprise a double bed on the ground floor, a further double bed on a mezzanine level above (reached by wooden staircase to the centre which also serves a mezzanine single bed situated on the other side) plus a sofa bed on the ground level offering additional sleeping space for one
2 luxurious bathrooms, both with shower (one situated in the area beneath the single mezzanine bed)
A pristine and well-equipped kitchen for light cooking with integrated appliances and canal views

OUR COMMENT
A fabulously quirky studio bursting with colour and joie de vivre, in a vibrant, central and endlessly fascinating part of town.
A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront…
… A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe…
… Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness…
Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo.
Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa.
Within a short stroll of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city, the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon and San Silvestro in the San Polo district and the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips around town, visits to the Lido beaches and to the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini.

Very lovely accommodations and nice location!

This unit was perfect for us. The location was excellent and the check-in was seamless. After traveling for a couple of weeks it was a welcome surprise to stay in a unit that had truly hot water for showers and cold air conditioning!! The unit was clean and extremely comfortable, and again, a perfect location! Additionally, we had the luxury of a washer and dryer, internet, and many other amenities. I would highly recommend.

The property was great, but there is a rubbish collection point behind the flat which collects every morning at 6am. There was also construction on a flat below and guests who arrived at 4am and were very loud. But overall it was a great flat with nice views. Great location and good communication with host. Missing a wardrobe. Would stay with friends again.

Our family stayed here for two nights at the end of June. The kids picked this property because they thought is was cool with the loft beds. There was plenty of room for our family of 4, two teenagers. Could have slept 5 easily. We loved the apartment! It was beautiful, well equipped and in a great location, plus it had great air conditioning. We highly recommend this apartment and Views on Venice. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Excellent service, greeted as soon as we arrived at the waterbus stop and looked after perfectly. Apartment lovely and beautifully kept.
Could do with a shelf for soap/shampoo in the shower. Shower room door needs a handle on the inside to pull it closed from inside.

Excellent location, but still quiet. The layout and design of the appartment was absolutely fantastic. Perfect for our family who wanted to spend as much time together as possible. Beds were super comfortable.
A small knob and a lock on the inside of the bathroom underneath the small bed would be a nice improvement.

Very nicely designed and very central. Yet sound isolation is very bad both from the inside and the outside of the palazzio. One window did not close properly and all the noise from the passing boats and works in the canal were very loud. And we were awakened every time someone would walk up or down the stairs alongside our flat. We had to go and buy ear plugs at the pharmacy to sleep a bit better on day 2. Rest was all good.

We were celebrating my 50th birthday with 15 ladies in corte rubbio 1, 3, 10 and 9 and had the greatest time. The apartments are simply wonderful, stylish, in the middle of everything and some with spectacular gondola views. The service was perfect! We all would highly recommend this upscale place and come back with friends and families any time.

Thoughtful and beautiful updates in old building to bring new life and luxury to weary travelers. Excellent location and added concierge support to help with transport to building. In-person check in process can limit travelers with unpredictable or later arrivals.

We liked this place
The entire property is elegant and thoughtfully modern, and it came with a nice canal view too. There was no photo of that when I booked, so it was a pleasant surprise. It's situated in a quiet area just a short walk to the best of Venezia in either direction. Great location. Go find Mossamiliano's bar Il Salotto di San Marco with the crazy robot sound system. He's passionate about food, drink, music, and Americans. We loved that guy!

This room is truly was an oasis. We loved everything- the bright and airy space, the updated amenities, and of course the perfect location. We will return!

Perfect rental for vacation and/or business travel.
The apartment was fully equipped with kitchen appliances, there was convenient laundry in the building and the apartment was central but relatively quiet. It was ideal.
My only point of improvement would have been the door on the first bathroom. The minimalist design made it hard to close the door properly, which meant the bathroom didn't have complete privacy. I would suggest a little hook to latch the door or adding a doorknob so that the door can be completely closed.

The online photos are reflective of the apartment, but when seeing it in-person, you realize that it is spectacular. The location is very central and only a 5 minute walk to Rialto Bridge. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and even wine shops and a grocery store. We did not do any cooking there, but could have as the apartment has everything needed to do so. One tip: the closet is hidden away as a pullout located at the head of the main bed. We found it on out last day in the beautiful place.
