About this cottage rental

Rural luxury is redefined by this stunning contemporary conversation of historic stables set in the impressive grounds of Belchamp Hall, a beautiful Queen Anne period house and home to the Raymond family since 1611. A large high vaulted space has been transformed into an expansive open plan studio style retreat with a premium bespoke kitchen at one end and at the other, through large retractable sliding wooden panels, is a super king-sized bedroom with en-suite bathroom. At the centre is a seating and dining area that opens straight out onto a large elevated terrace beyond which is a landscaped traditional walled garden and large private estate to explore.
The Ground Floor
Five large round windows bathe the space with bountiful natural light, and when the sun sets three large statement porthole lights suspended from the ceiling take over.
Kitchen - Comprehensive designer fitted kitchen with extensive worktops including a butler's sink, full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. Large freestanding island includes an electric cooker & hob along with a microwave.
Dining Area - Farmhouse style table with seating for four.
Sitting Area - Carefully aged matching pair of three and two seater Chesterfield sofas orientated around a 55" smart TV and library style bookshelves.
Bedroom - With a huge super king-sized bed can be opened out for studio style living or the retractable sliding wooden panels can be shut to create a separate enclosed bedroom.
Bathroom - Well-proportioned with freestanding iron bath, walk-in power shower, double sinks and a ‘loo with a view'.
Outside
Opening straight from the dining and seating area is a private elevated terrace with large wooden table, chairs, bench and BBQ along with direct access to a historic walled garden with a shared tennis court that guests are welcome to use (racquets provided). Being in the middle of an old family estate there are miles of wonderful footpaths taking you into lovingly preserved pristine countryside.

One of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. Great location and to watch the peacocks roaming around was just amazing! Very comfortable, clean, and beautiful grounds to walk around. Will definitely be back

The accomodation was light and spacious and it was clear that a great deal of thought had been put into the decor and furnishings. We appreciated the welcome basket and the other little extras that were provided like dish soap, dishwasher tablets and bathroom toiletries. The bed was comfortable and the shower very good with lovely big bath towels. Communication with hosts and information prior to our stay was excellent. A quiet location in lovely countryside but the guinea fowl and peacocks meant it wasn't quite 100% peaceful.

A beautiful property with lovely peaceful surroundings. An ideal place to celebrate our 60th anniversary with family renting the other cottages. Connecting door with family in the Hayloft was useful. A big thank you to the owners and to Idyllic Cottages.

What a dream come true, we stayed in Suffolk in the summer and as we are big Lovejoy fans we did a walk down to Belchamp Walter and passed Belchamp Hall. We knew the stables(Lovejoys old workshop) was available as holiday accommodation, so decided to come for a week at New Year. From start to finish we couldn’t have wished for a better stay, we have high expectations of the self catering accommodation we stay at, they have to be spotlessly clean, they have to be in good condition and most importantly everything has to work, this accommodation delivered on all fronts, it took a little while for us to find our feet with the heating and the Wi-Fi struggled a little from the far extremities of the property, but this was never a problem as it worked perfectly in the main part of the stables and the bedroom. Constant hot water, showers that worked brilliantly, great cooking facilities, Blu-ray player so you can watch dvd’s, you can connect to the smart tv if you have Netflix etc. Everything had been thought about and considered. To top it off what made it even more special were the owners Charlie and Alice Raymond. Attentive, caring and couldn’t do enough to ensure stay was perfect, truly wonderful down to earth people. Charlie also showed us a courtesy that we will never forget, this made our stay even more special, way way above what we could of ever have expected. The other thing worth noting is that they have 4 properties for rent, one is a short distance from the entrance to the hall, but at the stables you have 3 properties that connect, the stables (for 2 people), the Hayloft (for 2 people) and the coach house (for 3 people) If you took all 3 for a family holiday you would have a truly fantastic time I cannot recommend Belchamp Hall Accommodation enough, Truly Superb Thank you

Such a beautiful, spotless clean, and comfortable cottage. The owners have thought of absolutely everything, amazing fixtures and fittings! The welcome basket was delightful, as was the dog bed, towel, bowl and treat! Perfect situation for a quiet country break! Couldn’t recommend more highly!!!

We (a couple in our sixties) stayed here for a week in May 2023. We have stayed in many self-catering properties. This one [along with the Hayloft above it] rates as one of the very best. The sense of drama in the accommodation is up lifting. The place is big enough to have been made two bedroom, but there were no compromises made during the conversion and consequently one feels splendidly grand there. The bath has possibly the best bathroom window ever in May when the wisteria embraces the circular window. Furniture and fittings good quality and suit the building. Peacocks strutted about doing their thing in the garden, their shrieks being something we took pleasure in shouting at them about. Ver poor giffgaff phone signal [there is Wifi available]. Very easy parking. Hosts very hospitable.

The Stables have been wonderfully converted into stylish, very spacious and comfortable accommodation. There was a welcome basket for us, and a bed, water bowl and Bonio treat provided for our dog too! A very special and peaceful location, and we enjoyed watching the Guinea fowl family, and the peacocks, in the grounds around the property. Easy access to lovely walks was a bonus, as was the use of the tennis court.
