About this house rental
Take a vacation back in time! This lovely cottage, set on an acre of wooded land across from the calm waters of the Penobscot Bay, retains all the charm of a time gone by while providing all the comforts of home. An updated bathroom, comfortable bedrooms full of light (one with a wood burning fireplace!), and a cozy living room are highlights. The newly remodeled kitchen has everything you'll need to create memorable meals eaten on the screened in porch--perfect for watching the light change on the lovely, long summer evenings. We have furnished the cottage in Arts and Crafts style that fits the personality of this old house and stocked it with all you will need to make your Maine vacation just perfect.
The cottage comes with private access to a lovely beach just across the street. Head down a charming, tree-lined path that leads to a staircase for a swim in the Atlantic, hut for beach glass, or skip stones on the (normally!) smooth surface. You can kayak here as well, or fish, or just relax while watching a spectacular sunset. Whether you want to eat your fill of famous Maine lobster, take amazing day hikes, head to nearby Belfast or Camden for a world-class lunch or dinner, or simply walk down tree-lined Shore Road that parallels the water, this cottage is well located for whatever your ideal vacation dreams may be.

Suzanne was very open to easy communication.
Conveniently located between mid-coast towns and Acadia & Bar Harbor. We were able to eat hearty breakfast at The Hoot, drive to Acadia, hike & sightsee for much of day and return after Bar Harbor dinner. We loved morning walk around historic area of Bayside and learning about its history, as well as watching sunset across the water. Charming porch, three BRs & bathroom on top floor with eat-in kitchen, screened porch dining and LVG Rm on lower level. All in very good condition. Hope to stay here again some day.

Property was as I expected as I am familiar with the area.

For an older house, it was very clean and pretty comfortable, especially the beds which is so important. It had a nice kitchen and enclosed porch as well. The owner was quick to respond when messaged. It was a very good experience.

Our family had a great time at Little Bohemia! It's a cozy and sweet house in a great location. My big kids loved swimming at the pier and we all enjoyed the beaches and neighborhood walks. The beach near the house had so much pottery bits and sea glass - it was quite the treasure hunt!

We stayed a week in late August (the acorns were dropping!) and loved the house and really enjoyed the Bayside/Belfast area. Thank you!

A magical house in a wonderful community
We had a wonderful time staying at Suzanne and Ethan’s home! It was such a cozy house in a great location for exploring coastal Maine or enjoying simple family time right there on Shore Road. We ended up doing a combination of both, enjoying nearby hikes in Lincolnville and Belfast, a day trip by ferry to Isleboro, and a few relaxed days of walks down Shore Road with the dog, cooking at the house, and spending time playing tennis, sea glass hunting and making new friends at Belfast City Park less than ten minutes drive away. We feel restored and refreshed which is just what we hope for! Thank you for a great experience!

Sweet and easy
We rented this cottage for a 4 day weekend in mid October and it worked out exactly as hoped and expected. Cozy, cute, and comfortable. Our purpose was to explore the Belfast area, enjoy the off-season water front, and just relax. This house gave us the perfect base for doing just that. It's quiet and relaxing with easy access to the water and a short drive to all the "action". Although mid October is a pretty quiet time in that neck of the woods. The house is definitely quirky, but it's well appointed and has all the amenities in all the right proportions.

Charming bungalow in picturesque Bayside, ME
My husband and I spent a week at Little Bohemia. We loved the historic character of the cottage, which was cute, quirky, and original. The owners' choice of decor further enhanced the charm. We enjoyed walking around the quaint community of Bayside. We went to picturesque Belfast, a couple of miles to the north, for its restaurants (Young's Lobster Pound - YUM!), shops, and other amenities. We took a couple of beautiful drives to neighboring islands. The location of this property was ideal for exploring the area. Lastly, the owners were responsive to our needs. They provided a nice write-up of the local amenities, which got our trip off to a great start! Thank you!

Perfect place for our parents
The majority of our 19 member family stayed at Bayview Farms, across the street. Our parents stayed at Little Bohemia. It was the perfect place for them! Cute and had everything needed for our stay. They were close enough to us to visit but a quiet place to go back to when they wanted to. It was clean and comfortable. And Suzanne and Ethan are great to deal with.

Lovely cottage in Bayside
We thought the cottage would be pleasant, and it exceeded our expectations! Spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy Bayside, and also served as a good base from which to enjoy the Mid-Coast region. Ethan and Suzanne were great hosts and very easy to deal with. Would highly recommend!

Charming old cottage. Enjoyed the screened-in porch.
We had a nice time at your property. The only problem we had was the stairway. I might mention that it was a little hard for a handicapped person to navigate. Other than that we were very comfortable. Thank you for your kindness.

This Great Old House
This great old house sits on a beautiful lot in Bayside. Bayside is a safe community and they have the sweetest little library that is free for everyone.

This is a lovely cottage in a wonderful quiet community. The community of Bayside is like a throwback in time. Walk to the rocky beach to skip rocks. Our kids took sailing classes at the yacht club. Great hiking nearby. Lots of good restaurants within 15 minutes. Towns of Belfast and Camden nearby. Great place for kids and dogs. Good books, games and puzzles community center two doors down offers yoga and dance classes and other special events while we were there there was a pancake breakfast and a juggler/comedian. Idyllic setting. Nice screened outdoor dining area.

Nestled in the century-old Bayside village in Northport, Maine - with a strong sense of history and community, a large and lovely park, and a wharf on the Penobscot Bay that's the heart of the community - this charming cottage was a delight for our two-week stay with our teenage kids. The home has everything a visitor needs, with full kitchen, washer, dryer, and a nicely redone and large bathroom. This well-built home has wooden floors that don't squeak, and it might be the only cottage where this is true. The cottage is airy and light-filled and has screens on all the doors and windows. The authentic/local nautical decor adds to the charm. The bedrooms are comfortable and private, and the master has a fireplace and sitting area. The sofa downstairs opens to a full-size bed. A highlight is the screened-in porch just off the kitchen, the perfect spot for breakfast, listening to the birds in the sizable front-yard, looking across at the nearby woods, or sneaking a peak at the bay just behind the home across the street. If you really must connect, the WiFi works throughout the house and is stronger than in any cottage we've been in over the years in this village. Ethan and Suzanne are wonderfully gracious and attentive hosts, and if you need anything at all they'll be right on it, just call, email or text them. A lovely place. My parents have stayed here in the past too. A memorable visit.

Two heavenly weeks of peace, beauty and friendly people!
The cottage was spacious, beds great, kitchen had everything needed to cook simple meals. The daily walk along the bay was balm to the soul. The water sparkled, sailboats passed and other morning walkers smiled at you. Suzanne and Ethan were always helpful if we needed something, great hosts. And nearby is a rustic restaurant that serves the absolutely best fresh Maine Lobster. We shall return!

Delightful, restful vacation
This cottage is decorated with love and taste. The rooms are bright, beds are excellent. You can cook at home in a well supplied kitchen--or find any number of great restaurants not far away. The quiet neighborhood and the wide ocean view are an invitation just to sit outside, be at peace and be lazy, curled up with a good book.

Idyllic Home
Our family had the most perfect vacation in this charming cottage. The house is tastefully decorated with everything that you need. The large front lawn has a beautiful view overlooking the ocean. The house is located in a quaint neighborhood with a dock, beaches and parks, all within walking distance. Fantastic restaurants and shops are just a short drive away in the town of Belfast. At night, we would walk up the street to watch the abundance of fireflies dancing, which was magical for the kids. Ethan and Suzanne were the perfect hosts ensuring that our stay was ideal. Can't wait to visit again next year!

Maine summer rental fabulous
There is an old Maine feel about Ethan and Suzanne's Little Bohemia. Very comfortable. Great quiet location a hundred yards from the bay, with villagers occasionally walking up and down the road in front. We had a very pleasant stay, with no problems.

Great spot
Very charming house that we really enjoyed. Sits well back from the road, so it's nice and quiet, but a very short walk to the green and dock at Bayside. You can leave your kayak at the beach and paddle whenever the spirit moves you! Short drive to Belfast, which we love. Several very good restaurants without the crowds, hassle and tourists of Camden. Basically, read the rest of the glowing reviews. They are spot on. One point to keep in mind is that the pull out bed is in the downstairs living room, which is open to the kitchen. Anyone sleeping there should be the early riser in your group!

Already Planning Our Next Visit
My partner and I spent a week at Little Bohemia, and we can't begin to say enough great things about the property. Its interior is charming and extremely well appointed (particularly the kitchen, where we cooked to our hearts' delight and dined on lovely old china). Its enormous lawn is an utter anomaly in a quaint village known for packing in cottages so tightly that neighbors can share sundries without stepping out of their homes. Little Bohemia, on the other hand, has space, privacy, and natural light in spades. During the day, we spent a great deal of time on the cottage's two large porches, or walking to one of Bayside's several beaches (the oversized beach towels and canvas beach chairs included in our rental fee were a welcome surprise!). At night, we loved the luxury of climbing in bed to candles and a robust fire. But by far the best aspect of the property are its owners, Ethan and Suzanne, who went out of their way to make our stay special and to ensure that it was hassle-free. We left feeling very much like we had made two very dear friends. We will absolutely be back next year. And the next.

great upgraded cottage in a hidden 1860's-founded hamlet
Everything written in this cottage's profile and Seth T's review can be accepted verbatim, and the photos are of course representative of both the cottage and the immediate Bayside area.
For my wife and I (retirees), charm, spaciousness and comfort stood out. It's a great base for car trips to Belfast, Bangor, Camden, Rockland, Wiscasset, Bucksport (Fort Knox), Blue Hill, Castine, and Bar Harbor (Acadia National Park). Or just put on your sneakers and walk/jog along beautiful tall tree-sheltered Shore Road to Saturday Cove; on other days hike up Mt. Battle or Mt. Megunticut's somewhat steep trails for awesome overlooks of the Penobscot Bay and Camden's lake region respectively, or drive through Millinocket to Baxter State Park and climb Mt. Katahdin and Knife Edge (terminus of the Appalachian Trial), or go white-water rafting on either the grades 5-4 Penobscot or the 4-3 Kennebec Rivers. Or just stroll past Bayside's ginger-bread cottages and chat with everyone, then go jump off the wharf and swim in the Bay's hot water! Or don't do anything except chill out and read.
This cottage is a KEEPER!

Perfect Bayside getaway
Little Bohemia exudes charm and character with its great screened porch, comfortable bedrooms, wonderful yard and excellent location. It is so close to the beach and all of the activities of Bayside while retaining the quiet and peacefulness that many of the other cottages lack. We will return to it again and again.

One of the most idyllic cottages in Bayside
This cottage has it all, a huge sunny yard, plenty of nooks to curl up and read a book or watch a movie, comfortable beds and a screened in porch for a dining room to boot! I have known this cottage for a number of years and it has grown to be my favorite place. It is close to the beach, close to safe walking and biking trails, close to the funky town of Belfast and the restaurants of Camden. The addition this year of private beach access via a staircase across the road just adds to the amazing-ness of this wonderful arts and crafts period house! I love this place and you will too.
