About this cottage rental
This sweet 1920's bungalow offers a great place to retreat, unwind, and step back in time. You will find everything you need while you experience the charm of Hot Springs and its proximity to all this area has to offer. From the cottage, you will be able to walk to the Appalachian Trail, natural hot springs spa, local brewery, famous local diner, restaurants, shops, and more. And if you have more of an adventure up your sleeve, you can get to many other trails and destinations along with Asheville in less than an hours drive.
Blue Heron Cottage sits on a bluff above Spring Creek, a renowned fishing stream in the Pisgah National Forest, where you hear the flow of the stream at all times of the day. While relaxing on the deck or within the house with the sliding doors open, you may find time to kick back and just be. A writer and artist dream spot to reinvigorate one's senses. All the modern amenities in a very laid back atmosphere.
The cottage includes 1 spacious bedroom with a King-sized bed. There is a bathroom with a large garden tub and shower combo. The living room has views over the creek and a gas fireplace with a Smart TV for streaming your favorite channels. The kitchen is spacious and offers everything you need to eat in if you choose. Fiber optic internet service has been added so that guests have the best internet option in town. We hope you will consider staying at Blue Heron Cottage.
The cottage rental allows pets with an additional fee. We limit pets to dogs under 50 pounds and 1 dog per rental period.
Hot Springs is a great destination in all seasons! The weather is mild and roads are tended in the winter time, and the Hot Springs Spa is open year-around for hot mineral soaks. Restaurants and shops are open as well, and we love to hike the Lover's Leap trail on cool, sunny days when things are a bit quieter around here.
Summer is a wonderful season to enjoy many things to do outside, including rafting and tubing and venturing up to Max Patch Bald.
Spring sees beautiful mountain wildflowers and hikers traveling through on the Appalachian Trail.
Fall never disappoints with endless potentials to see the trees changing at different elevations and finishing your day with a fire and soak in the natural hot springs or a beer at Big Pillow Brewing.

Relaxing and cozy in this great escape! We will definitely return!!!

Easy check-in. Hosts were very comunicative before arrival. Kitchen and bath stocked with everything you could need to cook, play, and rest. Steps from town yet tucked away. Back deck along the creek was peaceful. The pictures don't the cottage justice. Third visit to the area and by far the best accommodation to date. Will be looking to come back to the area and plan to stay here again. Thank you!

This was not only a beautiful area but the outside deck is so gorgeous. The view is spectacular. The house itself was very cute and comfortable. We had everything we needed. The only thing that I would say is that if you go when it's hot realize it might be warmer in the house than you like. The AC worked excellent but it is a ductless type AC and you need to use fans to move the cool air into the bedroom. But when we went it was in that load a mid-90s so it was very hot. I would absolutely stay here again. It was very very clean. We enjoyed it so much. They really did think of everything. It was a wonderful experience.

We enjoyed our stay at this charming cottage! We loved the location to town, the deck overlooking the river in the back and the quiet street. We hope to make it back again soon!

What a beautiful place to stay!!

This place is absolutely amazing!
We walked to breakfast at the Smokey Mountain diner.
Saturdays they serve home made cinnamon rolls a must try!
Little coffee shop near by also.
Great layer back pizza place within walking distance called Vinal pies.
We watched friendly little squirrels play on the deck railings.
We drank morning and evening coffee on the porch listening to the river flowing.
We went for mineral jacuzzi soak at the Hot Springs spa, which was about 11 minutes away walking. The soak was absolutely amazing Larry enjoyable and relaxing. We will definitely be back again. Best little weekend weekend getaway. You won’t be disappointed booking the blue Heron.

The Blue Heron Lodge is an amazing place to stay, with the large deck overlooking Spring Creek. We enjoyed the large spa tub and the gas fireplace. If you forgot something the Dollar General is in walking distance. We went to the resort for a 90 minute mineral hot springs spa overlooking the French Broad. We did a 2 hour hike with Llamas. Hot Springs is a friendly town. We enjoyed everywhere we went.

Loved this little home on the river so much. We will definitely be back to Hot Springs and looking to stay here!

The Blue Heron was even better than expected. The cottage is well appointed and very clean and cozy. Arriving we walked in to find a vase of daffodils and a kind welcoming note on the kitchen table. It was a bit rainy and chilly that day, the gas log fireplace was on and the warmth of the cottage was just wonderful. The loveseat in the living room faces sliding glass doors which offer a view of the Spring Creek and the surrounding wooded area. Just to the right of the doors is the cozy gas log fireplace. The next day we walked into Hot Springs and strolled through the shops and downtown before "taking the waters" in a very nice private hot tub at The Hot Springs Spa.
A bit of backstory, the week of our original scheduled stay the weather forecast was for a high of 17* Saturday and 5* Saturday night. The hosts were very understanding and accommodating in letting us reschedule our stay a few weeks later for a small rescheduling fee.
Blue Heron provided us with a very relaxing weekend get away and we would definitely stay again.

Over all, great place to stay. Little disappointed that the jacuzzi bathtub was described as a hot tub. We were impesssed on how perfect the bungalow was for us. Warm weather return is going to be a goal.

We were married in Hot Springs in 2015 and this was our first trip back to the cottage since then and we had another amazing experience! Such a cute and cozy place to stay!

The cabin was located in a cute neighborhood just a 5-7 minute from downtown. The house is right on a creek so you can hear the bubbling water from the deck. It was a rainy weekend so we didn't get to spend much time on the deck, but it would be a perfect place to sit in nicer weather. The bed was comfortable and the house had everything we needed. We'd love to return one day.

Beautiful spot right over the creek.
However, creek is not all that accessible from this property. That is my only negative.
Everything else was great and a wonderful time. Just remember to keep the bedroom door open if it's cold at night.

This was the perfect size cottage for my husband and I. Great walking location to everything in town. House was clean and had everything we needed with sweet extra personal touches. Bed was very comfortable. Back deck was our favorite. Very relaxing and beautiful weekend get away.

Property was great. Vrbo systems, not so much. I got a note saying the information on location, key, etc. would be sent to my email. I was going to be out of town and not able to access that email. I tried to change it and your system couldn't handle that. I eventually got some phone numbers to call and got the information.

Superlatives abound; we are a fairly demanding couple with travel experience from dozens of countries around the world. Mart Helen and Marion's cottage in Hot Springs had it all from complete kitchen and toiletries to comfortable indoor seating, plus an extended deck overlooking the stream rushing just below. All of that plus excellent local, within walking distance restaurants and brewery. We will be returning!

The cottage was perfect and just as described. The view of creek from living and kitchen areas were amazing, but the sounds of the creek was even better while sitting on deck. We walked to the local shops and were able to hike the trail from the house. Would definitely stay here again! We loved it!

We came to Hot Springs for a wedding and managed to fill the weekend with hikes, restaurants, & great shops. We still had time to relax on the wrap around porch with the creek below. The cottage is situated in a perfect spot.

Celebrating our 50th Anniversary in one of our favorite small mtn towns! Had a wonderful time and love being on Spring Creek😊

The Blue Heron was fantastic. Well equipped throughout. Right on the water where it turns. Spent a lot of time on the deck listening to the water and watching the creek. Got to see a family of beavers playing right below us. The cabin was exactly as described, very clean, and had everything we needed. Location was perfect. Could either walk or drive a short distance to everything that Hot Springs has to offer. We plan on coming back again.

Absolutely lovely place. Literally nothing but positives can be said about the property. Hope to stay again soon.

Hosts were very responsive. Unfortunately, bad weather knocked the power off for most of 2 days. Had to travel to another town to get hot food. Duke energy didn’t communicate well about the situation

Wonderful little place in a quite neighborhood with a wonderful setting on Spring Creek. Cottage was just as described in the listing. Hope to be back soon.

Perfect getaway for two. The sound of the creek is so relaxing and the feel of the house is very rustic and cozy. The place is so much better than the pictures. We will definitely be back.

Blue Heron is adorable! All pictures, etc. on listing are accurate, no surprises....best part of the cottage? The CREEK! We could have sat there for hours on the cute deck overlooking the creek. The water sounds, wow you don't need any other entertainment. Bed slept great, everything in kitchen you might need, light switches, etc. labeled perfectly. We hope to rent your cozy place again.

My wife and I chose Blue Heron Cottage for our anniversary to Hot Springs and we were so thankful that we did. The hosts prepared us for Hot Springs with wonderful information and kept us up-to-date before we arrived (the town was having a planned power outage—caused no problems).
Our view of Spring Creek was fantastic! We spent lots of time appreciating the roar of the creek immediately outside the cottage, which also lent some privacy.
The house is the perfect size for two guests, with a decent-sized and well-stocked kitchen (sharp knives and even a cheese grater!) for cooking up dinners.
We walked multiple times a day to downtown Hot Springs; you really are that close. The street the house was on was for the most part quiet, though.
This was one of our favorite VRBOs of all time—and yet the price is very doable!
Although we are adventurers and don't often go the same place twice, we would absolutely consider staying here again.
Thank you, Mary Helen and Marion!

Blue Heron was fabulous!! Thanks for the essentials provided and the great place! The wrap deck with river view is a winner and we’ll be back! Loved the high ceiling and spacious feel. The neighbors were a delight and enjoyed our town visits as well. Relaxing and very pleasant stay!

We love this cottage! The sound of the creek outside is so soothing, it brings a sense of peace. The gas log stove makes it nice and cozy, and we enjoyed just settling in with a good book and relaxing. This is an ideal place to unwind, and Hot Springs has just enough great food choices to provide a nice variety. And an awesome beer selection! This was a destress trip, and this cabin is the perfect place for that. Wifi worked great, and the Netflix was nice on a rainy night. Hope to come back here again!

Very nice fully stocked and appointed little house. Only lack was a dishwasher, which proved to be of little importance. All other appliances and kitchen ware present and fully functional. House was clean, bathroom roomy, very comfortable king bed, working TV. Would stay here again if opportunity presents.
