Things to Know
The community pool is open annually from the beginning of June to the end of August for guest use. Pool dates are weather permitting and at the Condo Association's discretion.
The Sanctuary HOA schedules structural upkeep during the off-season, blocking off certain sides of the buildings, making it unsafe for our guests to be on the balcony. The balcony may not be available for guests from October to mid-May.
This property is managed by Vacasa Virginia LLC.
Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.
Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 21 years of age to book. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

It was a great place sucked that the hot tub and pool were close but it's also March, overall had an amazing trip with friends.

We loved the water views. Condo was clean and comfortable and had plenty of space. The check in and out process was very easy!

Beautiful spacious condo on the beach! The sunsets over the sound were amazing! Plenty to do here or just relax and do nothing! Would definitely stay there again!

Shall we start with the big stain in the middle of the master bedroom, or the lamps that were not even plugged in and when they were there were no light bulbs for them, or the light switches that didn't work. Or how about the shabby, dirty and dark condo complex as a whole. Or maybe be charged for resort fees when the pool was filthy and unopened for use. In all the place had the air of a cheap hotel and we were glad to leave a day early. It was a really bad experience because we have rented through VRBO on numerous occasions and have always loved them, gave them the highest ratings and recommended VRBO to all our family and friends. This time, however, this was the first with a Vacasa tag to go with it. I assure it it will be the first and last Vacasa stay we ever have.

The home provides enough space for everyone to be comfortable and the view of Ships Bay is stunning!
However, pictures shared on the website are dated and do not fully represent current conditions. Also, the HVAC system needs immediate attention as we had to buy heaters in order to maintain 58-60*, which was horrible!
There is also a potential safety issue in the main upstairs bedroom as someone used screws to “fix” a broken bed post.
With that said, the house was clean and if we had not gone through the heat issue and added expense of buying heaters to prevent all out freezing, I would have given a 5 star review.
3.0 / 5.0
Let me start with the awesome: the views of sunsets over the bay, the customer service, the proximity to the beach, the fact I couldn't hear neighbors through the walls, the storage unit downstairs for your surf and sand gear so you don't haul all the sand into the condo, proximity to the park and Back Bay, the Mexican restaurant next door, the Samsung TV that was so crisp I took a picture of the model number because I want one, the updated kitchen and enough space for the whole family...which for me was 4 boys and my in-laws, in addition to my wife and I.
However, the management team is either struggling to find good help, or isn't very attentive/doesn't visit units between turn arounds. Upon arrival, there was a puddle of water on the floor in the kitchen which was caused by the refrigerator shelving being inserted incorrectly and keeping the refrigerator from remaining sealed. If we had not caught that, we may have lost the majority of our food for our long weekend. The floors were visibly dirty, and there was a long hair in our tub...pretty easy things for a proper cleaning to take care of. Also, either the springs on the box springs are worn out, or the plastic they are wrapped in make the two king beds excessively noisy. My wife is a light sleeper, so that made for some rough sleeping...not a great thing for vacation when you're already dealing with small kids.
I'd recommend it with reservations. I'd love to say we'd be back for sure, but a good night's sleep is paramount to a successful vacation for our crew. And the cleaning was sub-par...so be prepared to do some cleaning yourself, if you don't want to feel like you're showering with the previous guests. It just stinks to have your first vacation task be cleaning up after someone else. And for paying $270 in Vacasa fees on top of nightly rate and VRBO's service fee, I expect better.
Lastly, I must point out that based on the responsiveness of the management team/owners, I'd say they need new cleaners, rather than ding the management on this one. They were polite, communicative, responsive, and prompt. With a good cleaning and some improved bedding, this place is a 5 for our family.

It was not well cleaned. The communication was not as promised. The place is owned by a big property owner. My issues were treated as "trouble tickets". Broken chairs. Promised supplies not made available. I won't go back.

It had everything we needed plus the space to not be on top of each other. If I could I would give it a 4.8 in stars. The sunsets off the balcony are picture perfect! Our family would love to go back again. Sandbridge is a wonderful family community to visit.

The condo location, size, & amenities were perfect. Condo needs a deep cleaning. Overall, it seemed cleaning staff made it look presentable. I re-cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen . Outer hallways need dusting had to knock down a couple of spider webs to get to the elevator. Again great location.

At check-in we were told the condo was not ready. 28 cleaners did not show and the apartment had not been cleaned. Thus, we were told, find a hotel. Can you help us? Answer: No. We stayed at the VACASA office for a while to figure out what to do. Then we were told we could in fact get into the condo that evening but we would need to do the cleaning and make the beds, etc. We did this. The rest of the stay was fine and we were told we would get some kind of discount.

Lovely Stay
The Sanctuary was perfect for the 3 of us. We had a great view of the bay and then only steps to ocean. 418A was perfect. As described!
Baja bar & restaurant across the road.
Beds were comfortable and we had all the amenities. We ate fresh seafood every day.
Very quiet area. A short drive to amazing malls for shopping. We will return.

Cleanliness only
The condo is very clean and spacious for families or large groups. However, you’re stuck on your own with the check in process, especially if you arrive after hours. We found our keys in a packet left in a shopping center 20 minutes away from the condo and one of the keys didn’t work! It was difficult navigating our way as the instructions were poor, buildings and parking garages were not labeled and no one responded to calls, texts and emails at all. During our stay we had additional questions and concerns but again no response. So if you don’t mind figuring things out completely on your own you’ll be okay. Otherwise it’s not a bad location, beach is across the street. The community is questionable as our food was stolen twice so nothing can be left outside!
