The property is adorable! The main level was very roomy with a good sized kitchen. The weather was perfect so we were able to enjoy the many outdoor seating options. The bedrooms upstairs had king and queen beds which were very comfortable. It does get a bit warm upstairs but each room had ceiling fans, which helped emensely. Even the attic bedroom (which we called the 70's room) had a separate cooling system. The Host was very responsive to all questions. Loved this place, would definitely stay again.

The most disturbing event that happened during our stay is the hosts unwillingness to follow standard medical care on bat exposure. This is an old house so we are not blaming the host for the presence of the bat. The host's husband came and caught the bat. We contacted a physician for what to do. I informed him that he needed to have it tested to determine if it had rabies to prevent us from going through the rabies multi shot protocol. They released the bat without having it tested for rabies or seeking medical advice, accused us of basically lying and stating that we weren't exposed to the bat. A bat bite may not be detectable and exposure requires certain medical protocols followed. Rabies is deadly and causes imminent death. Additionally, the welcome email was not filled out and stated host has not provided any information. This was sent 3 days prior to our check in. My last trip and stay with VRBO and had all the codes, contact information including phone number, specific instructions for the location, clean up instructions. I asked for the door code the night before and was told it would be given the day of the trip in the welcome email. I had asked because we put the information on our calendar and print a copy in case our phones are not working. The next day, the day of arrival, we were given the code and told we would get a welcome email. We never received that email. Then the host did not remember the day we were checking in and when I verified that we were checking in that day we received a reply that they looked at the wrong date and we were told that "VRBO is somewhat of a difficult interface." I do agree with that; the app was not working well while we were there. Not having the welcome email with the phone number included on it did not make it easier. The Safety information on the welcome email was also not filled out. If you plan on doing any cooking, the kitchen is not well stocked. There are no kitchen towels and no cleaning supplies for the kitchen except for liquid dish soap and dish washer soap and white bathroom towels. There are a lot of breakables all over the 1st floor and therefore not kid friendly. We just put all the breakables up. The kitchen table is wobbly and drinks will spill easily. Description should indicate that the day bed is right by front door, there are 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 4th bedroom is the attic and bathroom 1 of 2 is on1st floor and bathroom 2 of 2 is on 2nd floor.

Old farm house feel. Loved it. The kids loved the 3rd floor for relaxing. I prepared part of Thanksgiving dinner here. It has the basics. If you are doing a family dinner you might want to bring your favorite cook ware. No complaints at all. Would definitely stay again

My wife and I, some family friends, and our grown daughter all spent the weekend catching up, enjoying food, and touring the city. This VRBO was perfect. It was clean, it had style, it had lots of open rooms to visit and the back yard fire pit was exactly what we needed in the evenings.
There were a couple of outlets that didn't work but we were able to move digital devices around to cover it.

The house was a perfect "landing spot" during a busy weekend. It was not stocked with some of the basics, but our group was able to make due. The beds were super comfortable. Kitchen was not large enough for our group, but normally we would not have used it. Only needed it in place of tailgating at the Speedway due to rain.

This is a great old farmhouse! Communication was great, and the house provided most of what we needed as we cooked a lot. The upstairs is a bit hot to sleep in the summer, but over all its a wonderful house in a cute neighborhood!

Beautiful home
Family weekend for a wedding. Rented property because we
brought our dogs and wanted the family to be together. Disappointed that we couldn't have a later checkout time of 3 pm.

Wonderful location and marvelous space for family
We stayed here for almost a week in June 2022. The KC and Oz-themed decor and knick-knacks are very cute and appropriate for the location. Overall, the space (bedrooms, living areas, outside) was perfect for us; there are 3 king-sized beds, 1 queen-sized, and 1 twin, so everyone was easily accommodated. We were very happy for the ceiling fans on the 2nd level, as the KC weather was quite hot and the fans helped cool the bedrooms for sleeping. There is a park nearby that is perfect for walking (people and/or dogs). I did ask a few questions through the VRBO app that were never answered, so communication is occasionally spotty. If you want to be able to reach the high shelves in the kitchen, bring a stepstool (or confirm in advance that one is now being provided onsite). There were ants in the kitchen (no surprise at this time of year in KC); once we treated the kitchen with the spray we purchased, the problem was solved. There are two ovens; the top one was quite dirty, but the bottom one was very clean. The dryer in the basement and the overhead light in the third-floor (attic) bedroom were not working when we were there. None of these issues stopped us from having a wonderful time during our visit, and we would stay here again when in the area and needing pet-friendly space for family.

Quality, Convenience, and Charm
Just spent several days in Shawnee visiting friends and got the privilege of staying in this fascinating home. There’s a nice blend of antique charm and updated convenience that fit perfectly with the “Wizard of Oz” theme. This is a very clean house with comfortable beds, central A/C, fresh linens and updated bathrooms. Our 3 teens really liked having their own rooms, especially the one who scored the unique attic room! One thing to keep in mind is that although this home has been updated with many of the modern conveniences of a newer home such as TV’s, fast WIFI, dishwasher, etc, it was built in 1906, so it also comes with some of the “character” of an older home such as hardwood floors that creak a little when you walk on them and a very faint musty smell when first entering that kind of reminded us of grandmas house (in a good way :) that we didn’t even notice after a few minutes. The home has a very comfortable and welcoming feel about it. Also has several comfortable outdoor sitting spaces including a porch swing.
The location is conveniently close to several cool places that Shawnee has to offer. We enjoyed the nearby Transport Brewery in the evenings, and Mclains and Pegah’s for breakfasts. Also was able to spend some time at a nearby park where they were celebrating “Old Shawnee Days”. There’s a nice water park close by as well but we didn’t get a chance to do that. Maybe next time!
We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful home and would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful, big, eclectic styled comfy cottage
Perfect amount of space for our big family to spend the weekend celebrating a graduation. Plenty of space to park the cars and a large patio and deck to hang out and enjoy the outdoors. Big, comfortable beds and big bathrooms. Lovely area and quiet neighborhood with very quick access to I35.
There were some minor issues that we encountered that were discussed and quickly resolved with the owners. Very respectful and kind and very willing to work out a resolution.
Pleased woth our stay and would stay again and again!
