About this house rental
Welcome! Our home is on a two acre lot nestled in the beautiful Nambe Valley, just outside of Santa Fe. It was built by renowned local architect Allen McNown, and his son Mark, whose family lived here for four decades. "Caracol" is spanish for "snail" which is the shape the house was built by McNown made out of adobe, lava rock, and wood from the area. It is a special house with a lot of history, and borders the Pojoaque Creek which is a tributary for the Rio Grande 10 miles away. The house has a very unique, curved feel due to the spiral theme. A one of a kind home with nearly 4,000 sqft of living space for large groups. Cell signals are very iffy outside of Santa Fe (and sometimes within), so do take a picture of the map and front gate before driving out here. There are some Ubers in town but few that come out here so having your own cars is recommended. There is plenty of parking here for as many as 8 cars if need be My assistant and I are readily available via texting through the app or our phone numbers. We are 15 minutes north of Santa Fe, in Santa Fe County and Pojoaque Pueblo, next to Nambe Pueblo. Off the scenic road to Taos one hour away. There are wonderful hiking and biking trails within minutes of our home we would love to share with our guests. We recommend having a car as there are some Ubers in town that would come up here, but cars are more practical. With plenty of parking on site for up to eight vehicles.

This is a very interesting house which was sufficient for our family of 13. The property is well kept, we enjoyed the pool and just hanging out in the beautiful surroundings.
The owner was very attentive to anything we lacked.
The location was good for daytrips into Santa Fe and nearby places of interes.

Overall great home with a lot of room for our large party of ten! The house itself was so unique and fun to stay in and learn the history of. Amenities were great and we had everything we needed! The host was around a lot and there were people doing yard work. It didn’t interrupt our stay and he did warn us in advance that he would be coming by, but I haven’t had this experience before.

We really enjoyed our stay at this place while hunting lions in NM. This house is really unique, if the walls could talk it would be an interesting story. Thanks again!

We had ages 2 to 83 and this was the perfect house for our 10 person family vacation. The location was easily accessible for all our day trips in and around the Santa Fe area and the property and pool were a plus for all the kids. We would stay here again with our question.

This house was one of several used to accommodate
a large family reunion. It became the central location because of the pool, hot tub and game room. Everyone enjoyed the facilities.

Our three-generation extended family of 10 enjoyed a wonderful week-long stay at this unique, architect-
designed “El Caracol” rural home near Santa Fe.
The home is everything advertised and more, including a large, new refrigerator. The kids remarked that the pool was the best ever and the separate game-shack was a real hit as well. No issues were encountered with WiFi reception.
The location was particularly convenient for our planned visits to Taos/Taos Pueblo, Abiquiu/Georgia Okeefe house, Ghost Ranch, Puye cliff dwellings, Los Alamos, "Meow Wolf" in Santa Fe, and an outdoor stargazing presentation on the outskirts of Santa Fe.

Loved this house. I’ve certainly never stayed in a house quite like this. Location was great but our teenage group did wish it was closer to town. The younger crowd did love the shed though. Great place for them to hang out for as long and as loud as they wanted to be. My only wish was better water pressure in the shower. Owner was so responsive to anything we needed. We had a great stay.

We had a great stay at Adam’s place in Pojoaque. The house is super funky and fun - the pool being our favorite part. Adam was really communicative and responsive. The water in the house has a more mineral odor as I’m pretty sure it’s from a well, but nothing that isn’t easy to overlook. The property is large and the stars at night are amazing since there isn’t much light pollution. We all slept soundly as it’s pretty quiet in this neck of the woods. Overall, magical time and experience.

El Caracol - the snail - see the picture of this facility!
El Caracol is a unique and amazing home. It is charming, warmly decorated, and open. The pool and the hot tub were enjoyed multiple times. Its proximity to Chimayo, Nambé, Los Alamos, Bandelier, Santa Fé, and Meow Wolf makes it an ideal location for a family and multi-generational getaway. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful setting just outside of Santa Fe
Could not have asked for a better setting and home to spend time in the area! Kids had amenities to enjoy while the parents had time to unwind. Beautiful property with a very distinct design, the hidden room was in high demand, which was fine for the wife and I, the primary suite was even better!

Phenomenal stay!
Wow what a special home this is! My family and I had the pleasure of staying here for a night. Our only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer! This is a beautiful home, it’s unique and truly memorable. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub to the fullest, and the kitchen was fully stocked so I was able to whip up all my kids’ meals easily. This place was perfectly located not far from the heart of Santa Fe, yet you feel secluded among the immediate surrounding beauty. We will be back!

Great small group vacation spot
I had a friends/family ladies' long weekend here at the end of April. The house is so unique, and full of really wonderful books and art pieces. We loved the heated pool, patio chairs, and the space and privacy that the grounds provided. Adam and Alexandra were incredibly communicative and helpful before and throughout our stay. Cell service is spotty, but the wifi works well (we had a few people who needed to hop on video calls). Thank you for sharing your unique and artsy space, Adam!

We had a wonderful time!!!
We had such an amazing time here!! I'm so happy that we booked this home for our family vacation. Our group had a wonderful time! We did see another review saying how they didn't enjoy the home... we don't understand how anyone could have not enjoyed their time here. We loved it so much. We've stayed at many places around Santa Fe and this is by far the best! It's the perfect place to bring friends or family. We do recommend you asking for the pool to be heated because it makes swiming that much more enjoyable. Adam was such an awesome host and went above and beyond answering all out questions. We hope to stay again soon!

Poor Quality and Unexperienced Host
Unfortunately for us this was a very unpleasant stay. We paid a lot of money for a seven night stay at a home that has not been looked after well enough to warrant the price tag. The host Adam allowed us to knowingly check into a house that had an unusable sink in the "master bedroom". Our first entire full day at the house we had his maintenance team in our space along with his assistant. There was no resolution and they allowed us to spend the entire week without a working sink. I would not be so upset about the sink if it wasn't for all the other issues listed below. The oven will just stop working at any given time. You will need to exit the house and go to the breaker box to flip it back on. While you're out there don't trip over the hose that should be hooked up to the shower you should use to rinse off before getting in the hot tub. The hot tub that also doesn't work well. After sitting in it for 10 minutes the temperature will drop pretty quickly. Hopefully it will heat back up by the next day for you to maybe use. When coming back in the home be careful of the odd clear film that's peeling off of all the winodws - it conveys a strong construction zone vibe. It can be somewhat loud at night and it doesn't allow for any beautiful views of the outside. Once your back in the kitchen make sure you are strategic with how you open any drawer. A lot of them open into eachother making it super easy for them to get stuck to one another. After all this you may want to retire to your master bedroom - but not so fast - it's not even a real bedroom! It's an open loft with very little shelter from the noises below you. There you will find more loud plastic film on the windows, broken towel racks and in our case an usable sink. The entire house is on well water which is very stinky and off putting, and also not disclosed in the listing. There are other things that are super simple to fix. Stained shower curtains, missing light bulbs, broken drawer handles, dog hair on the pull out couch, having to ask for check in information, etc. We brought all these issues up to Adam either during our stay or the day we checked out. He decided the best response would be to charge US for incidentals. Luckily I had incidental coverage and it didn't cost me a dime. He is in way over his head and has no idea how to run a property. I say this as a fellow host of 7, five-star properties with years of experience. Save your money for another place that reflects the price.
