What a lovely house! Tucked up into the hillside, a tree in the center of the deck, and comfortable, light filled rooms. This house is exactly as you see in the photos. The beds are comfy, bathrooms are clean and tidy with nice designer touches. Only 24 minutes to Malibu but you feel a lifetime away from the hustle and bustle. The deck is beautiful for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room to spread out. Love the ping pong table and foosball too! Our hostess even had farm fresh eggs waiting for us when we arrived. Communication was fantastic. You will love your stay here!!!!

We were lucky to be able to spend an amazing month on holiday in LA, travelling from the UK. Deck House was the best base we could have hoped for. It was nice to be out of the city to relax, but close enough to get to all we wanted to see and do. The house had everything we needed to make it feel like home. The views from the deck are outstanding. Lisa was a great host, making herself available to help whenever asked. 100% recommendation from us!!’

Wife and kids had a wonderful time in the Santa Monica mountains. Owner was enjoyable and available. Home was tidy, well stocked and an overall enjoyable time.

The place was great and felt very relaxing. The only issue was that the internet was not consistent enough working a little while vacationing.

A bit farther than we expected but once there we were in a perfect haven. Comfortable, amazing deck, quiet, and definitely a great escape from the crowds and traffic of LA and the Valley. We would stay here again any time.

I had a very specific location need for a rental house (attending a wedding and needed to be staying nearby so I could pop home and nurse my baby in the middle of the celebration), so from that standpoint this house totally checked the box. But I am very glad I never have to stay there again. Very remote, no cell service (there was internet in the house but calls couldn’t get out). There are a ton of doors in the house and they were questionably lock-able, which made me nervous. There was an overwhelming smell of cleaning chemicals but there were cobwebs in corners, hair in the shower drain, and we saw a mouse in the kitchen on our last day. The drawers in the kitchen fell out if you opened them too far. The host really was so nice (let me check in early, set up a travel crib for me, gave me eggs from her chickens, and assured me she would handle the mouse problem when I flagged it for her), but overall I can’t say that this house was worth what it cost. If it was super cheap it could be worth looking past some of the drawbacks, but I paid over $1,000 for two nights and the cleanliness and quality didn’t match up to that.

The property was great . Fulfilled all our needs, as we were there to attend a wedding and had great proximity to the venue. I will say that the stairs to get to the house were a bit of a challenge but, the views were beautiful. Overall a great visit.

We had a phenomenal stay - views were even better than photographs. Deck was fantastic, outdoor shower! Hot tub! Ping pong & foosball! Host Lisa was so welcoming - she even left us fresh eggs from her chickens. Location great to get to beaches, hiking or into town. Large bedrooms & baths - we will stay here again - loved it.

This is a great location if you want to be out of the traffic of Southern California but still be close enough to get to it all. The house was as advertised. Communication with the owner was great. We were there during an unseasonably hot few days so the house was a bit warm (ac not great). Overall a unique mountain house.

We had a great weekend at Lisa’s! The outdoor deck was beautiful and private and the house was adorable. Comfortably fit the 5 of us of the weekend and we were able to have the best girls weekend!

Great secluded getaway that is in between Malibu and downtown L.A., but with the beautiful surroundings of Topanga Canyon. Hosts are incredibly easy to work with and very helpful. I hope to return soon.

If you are looking for an escape from the intensity of LA this is a wonderful refuge. The house exceeded my expectations, the hosts were beyond hospitable. Farm fresh eggs were waiting when I arrived which I really appreciated. The road up to the property is steep (Topanga style) and there are steps that must be descended to enter the house and that magnified the charm in my mind! It felt like a real vacation away from it all, and so close to the beaches!

Lovely house on the mountain. Has everything you could need. We made ourselves at home. Pet and child-friendly. Host super nice and helpful! The landscape was so green and beautiful from the recent rain!

Such a great place to chill when you travel to LA area. Location so convenient yet a world away. If you haven’t been to Topanga Canyon you need to see this area. This house checks all the boxes. Great views, great beds, great kitchen, well stocked and of course super clean. Entertainment area nice as well as hot tub. Owners very easy to deal with and great at responding. Couple logistic notes; there are stairs down to house from driveway and probably a bit of a tough drive to house if your towing anything as roads in Topanga are narrow. You can’t beat seeing the Pacific Ocean on your drive to and from your LA destination. If you need a place to stay when your in the area that’s quiet and beautiful this is it. It will be the well deserved respite your looking for.

The house has so much room to breathe and the views are Wonderfull. At night we heard coyotes and during the day we saw deer. It has a wonderful cooking kitchen. So easy to just show up and jump right in.

Topanga Heaven
LA is a great big freeway and Topanga is the perfect escape goat. The chalet in the green is the perfect location to sit down, relax and plan nearby trips. Beds are huge, kitchen is great and everything is spic and span clean. Lisa is an exceptional host that helped us in the mess created by KLM lousy baggage service and even helped us fixing a flat tire. You land in LA and look for a starting base to chill down? This is the place to be.

Fantastic Location
Location was great. Going in and out of the canyon was still worth it to go to the beach or inland. Great size bed rooms. Bathrooms were clean and updated. Room to spread out. We weren’t home a whole lot but in the mornings. It was cool then but would get very hot by the time we got back in late evenings. Slept with doors open which was neat to have no bugs. Hot tub was clean just never got real hot. Kitchen was great. We didnt use the entertainment area much but would have been cool if our days weren't packed. Super peaceful back patio. Steep stairs getting up/down to property which were hard for my elderly parents to carry anything up or down, but well lit at night. Would stay there again for sure.

Amazing Mountain Tree House
10-15 minute drive up the mountain to Calabassas/Woodland Hills (which is a really nice and affluent area), and 10-15 minute drive down the mountain to Malibu/beaches/ocean. Truly a special place. It's almost impossible to find anywhere in southern California where you can find peace and quiet and feel alone, and this house is one of them. There is just something special about laying in bed and looking at the mountains, especially ones that aren't covered in houses (like most of southern california). The owner is very friendly and helpful, and it's a definite recommendation for anyone looking for a "non-thempark trip" to SoCal.
