Nicely located to all the outdoor things we wanted to do

We only had an overnight stay because we were traveling through to the New River Gorge National Park and then to the Shenandoah National Park. Great location and the house was clean and comfy. Wish we could have stayed longer. It had everything we needed for this stay.

It fit our needs. We did not plan on spending a lot of time inside, as we were looking to explore the national park, but it was spacious enough that we were not on top of each other. The owner responded almost immediately to our questions.
Most importantly we would stay here again, if in the area.

Had a great stay. Visited falls and watching all the birds was very peaceful. I will be staying again in the future.

Nice little house. We enjoyed our stay!! Enjoyed sitting on the porch. Beautiful area with lots of sightseeing

Great location for home basefor hiking and sight seeing. The area was cleaning up after a storm when we arrived. Power out at places, no wifi, but all was eventually restored. Take a book, as if wifi is out, there is no tv. Cell service very spotty. However the home has what you need for a nice stay. Relax and disconnect!

We were traveling through the area on the way to the east coast and loved the location of this place! We hiked some of the trails in the state park across the street and drove to the national park about 20 minutes away. Lovely place and thankful it was pet friendly so we could bring along our dogs! Thanks!

We had a great stay. We were able to easily walk across the street and see the amazing Hawks Nest views, and we ate dinner at the restaurant there overlooking the river. It was a pretty quick drive over to the Canyon Rim visitor center at New River Gorge, and we spent the day hiking and fishing in the park. Outside of the occasional car driving by, nighttime was pleasantly dark and quiet (a welcome change for us city dwellers). There was a nice, large dining table for evening board games (we brought our own, but the house has several good ones as well!), and I would definitely stay here again. It's the ideal location for exploring the nearby parks.
Also recommend checking out the nearby Freefolk Brewery Taproom! Great atmosphere, dog friendly, good beers, and tasty food.

We enjoyed the long weekend there. Hiking and sightseeing. The house was right across the street from Hawk’s Nest park. Highly recommend going to the overlook there and watch the sun come up behind the mountains. Literally a 5 minute walk.

We had everything we needed and more. A well stocked kitchen, plenty of bathroom towels and a wonderful location. We would stay at Hawk’s Nest Hideaway in the future.

We enjoyed sitting on the back porch, playing yahtzee. We loved that the state park was across the street. Perfect house for our needs. Thank you!

Could be OK if taken care of.

House was super comfortable and we especially liked the back area where we could eat outdoors, and the cast iron pans in the kitchen. Hosts were really easy to communicate with. Highly recommended!

Wonderful house, nice kitchen with dishwasher and grill and outside back table, porch swing, literally across the street from Hawks Nest State Park

We didn't have any issues with this place. It's an older home, but it completely met our needs. It was pretty convenient to the sites we wanted to visit and gave us a good home base to start from. I would recommend this home if you're looking to visit New River Gorge National Park, Hawk's Nest State Park etc. The house was clean and was exactly as described. Thanks!

Loved the location of being across the street from the state park. Fayetteville not too far away for dinner. Kitchen had everything we needed and there was a grill out back. Nice house, location, and great communication with the owners. Excellent stay!

The Property Manager was friendly and accommodating. I appreciated the convenient location, which allowed me to easily access the park and nearby attractions. The location is very good for our purposes and also having a state park across the street to walk our pups was great.

We needed a place to stay from which to experience and enjoy New River Gorge and the surrounding area, and this was a perfect fit. Right across from the State Park, it was also conveniently located and served as a great base of operations for this leg of our journey.

Perfect location if going to hawk nest state park. House is clean.

Our family loved staying at the Hawks Nest Hideout. The location was great and offered a spot to explore the state park across the street and New River Gorge National Park nearby. The host was very responsive, the house was clean, and we would definitely stay again.

Our phone service is Verizon, which had no signal in the area and no internet signal. So if you need to touch base with the owner for early check-in go down the road just a little bit to the lodge and connect to their public internet.
The cabin is very cute and the location is great, but not on the water like we had thought from the pictures. About 2 hours into our stay (1 night) the power went out for only 10 seconds, but the internet never came back. Touched base with owner and she put in a call, but it did not come back for our trip and we had no cell service. However, if you stand on one leg on the porch and aim your phone towards the Hawks Nest Lodge while wishing really hard, you could get a small signal and message the owner on the app 🤣

The property was clean and as described in the listing. The large couch was perfect for resting after a day of hiking. We had a bonus of the Christmas light show being across the road at the state park during our visit as well. The beds were comfy and the house had everything we needed to make meals and our stay as comfortable as possible.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location is beautiful and the property is very nice and as described. This is a positive review, and I would definitely want to stay there again if I was in the area, but I did have two comments that might be construed as negative. They are not intended to be negative, but rather, simply descriptive. 1) The steps going up to the house seem to be smaller than standard, or at least smaller than what I'm used to, so it seems like you have to make more step-ups than normal. 2) The road noise was really noticeable. But, it occurred to me that the reason is because vehicles only go by infrequently, so the contrast with the quiet makes it stand out more. Still, be aware that while the location is fairly secluded, the house is relatively close to the road. Again, I would highly recommend!

Exploring the New River Gorge
Perfect spot as a home base for our time exploring the New River Gorge area! We enjoyed our stay and the accommodations were just the right amount of space for our family of 4.

This little cottage was perfectly located for us to explore the Gauley, Summerville, and New River Gorge area. Plus the views from Hawks Nest were amazing. We started each morning with a cup of coffee on the porch swing before heading out, grilled burgers one evening, and crashed on the couch together for a movie to end the day. Thank you! We will recommend this place to anyone we know visiting the area.
