About this house rental
A corner house close to Enloe & downtown Chico, the Zen Garden is a relaxing hideaway where you can kick off your shoes, lay back, and enjoy some of the beautiful things of this amazing town!
The home has many Japanese inspired design elements. You will find that the king bed & twin beds are low to the ground to honor the design. If low beds aren’t your preference, the queen bed is a standard height.
This home is located on a busy road
Lawn maintenance is done Thursday mornings, fountain cleanup is done Tuesday afternoons.
Our backyard is much more plain currently and no longer has the tree. We had to interrupt the landscaping redesign due to the recent fires. Our backyard is a back patio with patio table to seat 4 and BBQ and hot tub. The hot tub is very exposed currently.
When entering the bonus room, please keep an eye out for the step.
The gate is being worked on and is currently tied open to allow your vehicles in and out of the home. Please do not tamper with the stakes holding the gate open.
Please do not park in front of the business across the street.
Thank you!
Since we do also have a cleaning fee, we have a no-stress check-out procedure. That means as long as the home isn't left in poor condition, you can enjoy a nice warm cup of coffee in the morning before you leave!
We take great care in maintaining our grounds, and we're proud to have a dedicated gardener. Currently, he doesn't follow a fixed schedule but tends to the garden whenever he believes it's time for some care. Thank you for understanding and appreciating our green spaces!
•Please refrain from wearing shoes in the house
•Please do not force the driving gate. There is an entrance designated for walking into the unit. The button for the walk-in gate is on the back of the door handle
*Drive-in gate stays open for only 60 seconds and does not have a touch sensor. We are not held liable if the gate hits your car - 60 seconds should be plenty of time to drive in and out
*The inconvenience fee for losing the driveway gate remote key is $150
•Please do not disturb the neighbors—honor quiet hours of 9pm to 6am
Thank you in advance for respecting my home :)

serious lack of human compassion the host waited til last min to cancel reservation which
left a family displaced by the park fire with nowhere to go . they drove over an hour only to find that there reservation had been cancelled . it was an extreme hardship to them as they had to find last minute reservations after driving so long with kids animals two cars so stressful then the owner tried to say the shower didn't works very sketchy . this was a nightmare the owner was not a bit sympathetic to the fact that this family had just been displaced by the fire and had nowhere to go were tired and just wanted to get out of the car and try to figure out what to do next .. not ok ..

This was a great place, super clean and cute. Hosts were super responsive. They only thing I would say is that it really only sleeps 6 in beds, unless you plan on bringing an air mattress for the "game room". There was a futon mattress but on the floor. Not very comfortable for adults.

The house has a nice refreshing relaxing concept, however. The fridge was broken. We put ice in freezer and it melted. Food in fridge was warm had to throw away. No hot water in shower. Called to inform owner he stated he would get some one to look at it, that never happened. Had to take cold shower. Dirty sheets. Over treated hot tub with clorine my hair still smells from. And skin burned from. It lau drey left in washer and dryer. Text owner that i was wanting a refund. Havent heard back yet.

It was great to get away & to include our dogs. We were never able to get the internet to work & our contact's response was to use our phones. The microwave didn't work and the fry pans and utensils need replacing. Check in was only given 10 minutes before the start time & we had problems getting to the VRBO site for info using our phones. Finally used 2 phones at once to get to the site for the landlords instructions. Luckily the house was unlocked when we arrived. The bedroom next to the bathroom was near a busy street so it was quite noisy at night. Great central location.

So this is a mixed bag. Over all comfortable but we are mid fifties in good shape but the mattress on the ground or very low frame didn't work for us. Needs a dishwasher. There is space for one. Back yard was a mess. Interior was nice, owner was nice.

Overall the stay was just what we needed. Had a few hiccups with making a few changes to the stay but everything came together.

We recently stayed at this beautiful property and it lived up to its VRBO online description! The landscaping as you enter the property is beautiful and very well maintained, with a relaxing water feature adjacent to the front porch.
Once inside the decor is minimal and tasteful, there is a small living room and dining area. There are three bedrooms, we slept in the primary bedroom and the platform bed was extremely comfortable. The second bedroom had a full/queen bed and the third bedroom had two twins. All were furnished comfortably and had closets and hangers.
The kitchen is adequately stocked with cooking/serving items, and the refrigerator is clean. There is a Nest thermostat which is easy to use, and the house heats up quickly which was great in the cold, rainy weather. There is good water pressure and hot water in the shower which I always look for! The bathroom is well-lit with space to store toiletry items and plenty of clean towels.
We loved the quiet of this location, which was pretty amazing as it sits on a corner lot. We didn't get to enjoy the outside as much as we would have because it rained our entire stay, but thankfully the interior of the home was cozy and comfortable.
The location is very close to the freeway for each access and also close to the cute downtown area with great restaurants and bars.
This home is a great value, and we recommend it for anyone traveling to the Chico, Oroville, and Paradise areas in the future.

Cute place! If you're looking for beds on the floor this is the place. Host is very nice and let us check in early for an additional fee. Host asks that you do not wear shoes in the house but allows pets. There is lots of pet hair from previous guest on floors and on the Asian bed frames. If you mind pet hair this is not the place for you. Overall, Great place to stay if you need to stay in Chico.

This is a lovely home and we particularly enjoyed the Asian motif. The house was spacious, clean, in a nice quiet neighborhood & conveniently located. We also liked having a fenced backyard for our dog. The hosts were very responsive. They answered our questions promptly and clearly. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you for for providing a nice place for us to stay.

My family stayed in this house over Thanksgiving and we appreciated the well equipped and roomy kitchen, the three bedrooms, and the comfy living room at a great price. I highly recommend this property. Thank you!

Check in/out was a breeze. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking implements. The host provided Brita filtered water, coffee, tea and sugar. We were able to sleep 6 comfortably. 3 cars fit in the driveway.

Easy check-in / check-out process. Great communication, host was easy to work with, had fantastic communication and very accommodating. Have the space to spread out, and cook made the college from-off, dorm move-in process easy!
