About this house rental
The Moon City Art Pad & Patio is a Craftsman style bungalow built around 1917 and we have owned it since 2000. While helping develop the Commercial Street Historic District since 1994, it has been the perfect place to live! Now, we have loved updating it to make it a place that guests and their pets will love. Artists with connections to Springfield are showcased, their original works line the walls. The patio and yard are perfect places to watch birds, relax and enjoy throughout the day.
The space
Our promise to you, our guests, as your hosts, is that your health and safety are top priorities for us. For your health: We follow the enhanced cleaning protocols established by Airbnb through the CDC's recommendations. In addition, additional supplies are stocked for your use during your stay. For your safety: The house alarm system is available for your use with your check in code so that you can be sure your pets and valuables are protected at all times. The basement (although used regularly for storage) is available for your protection in the event of a tornado or serious storm.
Guest access
You and your family or friends will have the entire home to yourselves. Check in is easy on the keypad, and the instructions on how to use everything in the house are available in our complete guest book, a copy of each you will find on both floors. Since we have lived in the house for over 20 years, we know what you'll need to know and have included it. How to work the remote controls for the tvs? It's in there. How to set the alarm at night if you want to have it on while you sleep? It's in there. Nearby restaurants and attractions. Yep, we have it. How to access the basement in a tornado warning? Gotcha. Most importantly, how to contact us at any time if you have a question. We are always available to our guests.
Other things to note
Your trip to Springfield starts the minute you begin to choose the place you will stay. We've been business owners who specialize in customer service for over 35 years. Having owned and operated massage therapy clinics, a school, a commercial laundry for spa linens (yes it was health care certified, so we know what we are doing about CLEAN), and having traveled many places in the world while staying in other people's homes, we know what you need and what you don't need. You need to have us figure out the stay before you ever get there and then you need to have no reason to call us. A "Wow!" at the front door, and a sweet glance back with a promise to return when you leave. Our promise to you is that we will do our best to make sure all of that happens. You bring the conversation and a smile. The rest has been provided.

The house is gorgeous! The host is also very sweet. The back yard is like a secret garden. Close to everything we wanted to do.

We stayed for a conference in Springfield. The house was very clean, well maintained, safe, and comfortable. Lots of little extras were very sweet. The host made check in very easy and we didn't need to contact them while there, but responded immediately when I let her know we were leaving. It was a great set up for what we did and had everything we needed.

House is charming with great history. Beautiful wood floors. Well stocked kitchen. Backyard is huge bonus. Neighborhood was pretty quiet with food and shopping near.

I am baffled at the ‘Exceptional’ reviews.
We are not happy with our stay, or the condition of this house.
We got a text message as we were pulling into the driveway of the property listing all the things that weren’t working. This list came nowhere near the amount of issues we saw. Had we known this before pulling up, we would have stayed somewhere else.
1. Almost no appliances are usable.
2. Cockroaches are ALL over outside.
3. The lounge chairs upstairs in the master bedroom are filthy and stained.
4. The downstairs couch smells like cat urine.
5. The house is clearly being renovated, and the people who are renovating it, are doing a terrible job.
6. When you sit down to use the restroom upstairs, there is a GAP in the wall and you actually SEE the downstairs. My son could see me using the restroom! It was awkward and incredibly uncomfortable moment.
7. Where this neighborhood is located, is NOT as advertised. I’m not even joking when I say, the neighbors were outside mowing the lawn, IN A THUNDERSTORM at 10pm. Two blocks over, there are hookers and homeless people walking around.
The reviews for this property are either bots, or someone was paid to say these things. Expedia should investigate this property and the people who run it.

Clean, easy access, nice neighborhood, attentive owner. Great relaxing backyard. Four stars is due to tub still needing work done as that was one of the things we look for. The upstairs is nice but the stairs are pretty steep so our English Bulldog had trouble going down and needed to be carried. Aside from those two small inconveniences that apply directly to this family, the place was great and would definitely recommend.

Sweet house, beautiful yard. Owner is very quick to respond. We had a great time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home was perfectly equipped to provide all of the convenience and comfort of home. We especially loved being so close to C-street! The owner was very responsive and great to work with - experience made us feel truly welcome in their home.

We were in town for the mid America car show. It was a nice quiet neighborhood to come home to after a day full of people & activity.

We enjoyed our stay, we brought our dog and he had plenty of space to be in the backyard. The house was spacious and well kept. The chairs upstairs need some updating as they were a little too loved, but all the other furniture was great. Neighborhood is close to lots of things, no more than 15 minutes away from most attractions.

It was perfect! Tons of space. Was to as pictured. The host was incredible! We will stay here again!

Property was just like the pictures. Clean house close to the fairgrounds.

The house is very nice. It had plenty of room for my husband and our two dogs. The back yard is fenced so the dogs had a place to hangout and they didn't have to be leashed all the time. There is also a park about a block and a half away so we could give them some exercise each morning. It is in an older neighborhood but it was close to where we were going so it was perfect. It has been updated in the kitchen and baths but still has the craftsman style

We enjoyed our stay at this historic Craftsman style home. The front sitting area was comfortable as was the dining area. We enjoyed the large backyard as well.
The location was very close to C Street, and within 15 minutes to Missouri State and Bass Pro. Plenty of restaurant and grocery options nearby.

We absolutely loved this place! It is a beautiful old house with lots of character in a nice neighborhood and close to everything. Our host was amazing any issues or questions she was quick to respond and make our stay the best she could! Thank you for an amazing stay!

My wife and were exhibitors at the 2024 Springfield Boat Show. We stayed at the property with our dog. In the cold / snowy weather the property was a great respite each day. The property owner was extremely responsive and wonderful to work with. We highly recommend this property.

Lovely home, but not so lovely neighborhood with lots of barking dogs nearby. The home is well-loved, but could use some sprucing up. Refrigerator needed a spill cleanup probably from guests who just left. Beds were super comfy, but should be clear that the twin beds advertised to be in each bedroom are actually not set up but are in closets and are heavy to move. Furniture is luxurious and well-loved. Heat worked well too. Master bath was not as expected in terms of quality fixtures. Thank you for sharing your home.

We have stayed here 3 years in a row! Juliet is super helpful and communicative! We love the backyard for our little doggie! The location is great for access to all the fun in Springfield!

We had a great time. The facility is very clean and in a quiet neighborhood.

Annual meet-in-the-middle trip for 50-something sisters.
Attentive host, cozy house, great location walking distance to C-Street (neat shops, good restaurants, Saturday farmers market). Easy check-in/check-out, clean, safe, dog friendly but fence is not 100% secure … my 35 pound beagle could have forced her way through some loose boards chasing a squirrel, so I opted to walk her to the park a block away. Upstairs bath is a bit awkward so we both used the shower downstairs.

Cute house! We weren’t at the house much because we were visiting family but very happy with the accommodations. Bed was very comfy. Owners were very helpful when I had to call for the door code and when I accidentally took a blanket home thinking it was my granddaughters. Would recommend to others!

We were there visiting family in the area and found this lovely place—an old Craftsman style home that has all its original charm and a spacious backyard for our furbaby. Well appointed and a quiet neighborhood, definitely recommend.

The backyard is really lovely. The owner was very easy to communicate with. The beds were comfortable. Very close to C street and shops.

The property was wonderful and true to its description. It had everything we needed and the backyard was perfect for our dogs while we were there. Definitely a place we would stay again. Thanks for having us!

We came to town to help our daughter move. This property was a great home base for us while we got work done. Owners were kind enough to accommodate us when we requested early check in.

We were in town to hit several golf courses and hit Big Shots. Great location! The house is beautiful, was very clean and we loved the backyard.

Very nicely maintained comfortable abode. Neighborhood is quiet. Restaurants and parks are convenient. Local attractions including Branson. Linens provided were top notch.

An absolutely adorable and well taken care of home, just minutes away from shopping and restaurants. Immediately felt at home and so very comfy. We will definitely be staying again when in the area.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at this comfortable property. There was plenty of room to spread out, a well equipped kitchen, 1913 charm, a pleasant backyard and an excellent location. We were biking on the Frisco Highline Trail, so being on the NW end of town was perfect. We also loved the proximity to C Street and the wonderful ethnic restaurants! When a question arose about some supplies in the house, the property owner was very quick to respond and to remedy the lack. We definitely plan to return to the area to do more biking and exploring, and we certainly hope to stay in this charming property again!

We loved our stay. The host was super communicative and the house was beautiful. My dog enjoyed the backyard and my teenage daughter felt like a princess in the Master bedroom. We would definitely stay again.

What a PEREFCT house for our weekend away! Location was great- just a few miles away from downtown and anything you could want to to. The backyard was beautiful and perfect for our fur baby (can't go away without her!)
The house was set up excellently for anything we needed, and the easy check-out process made packing up a breeze! We will definitely be staying here again the next time we're in town!! :)

Fenced backyard for the pets, historic home tastefully remodeled, very close to C-Street and not far from other Springfield destinations

Location was safe, beds were comfy and great yard for my dog. Host was great at communicating with me.

We enjoyed our stay. I thought we were going to be in a different part of town, but where we were was great and we did some exploring of a new area of town. The house was great. Backyard is perfect to hang out and enjoy nature although we didn’t get to do that much because we were so busy. It is a nice cozy house. We would definitely stay here again.

This is the second time we have stayed here and we loved it even more than the first! Juliet is an excellent host! The backyard is perfect for our little dog and the house was clean and conveniently located! We will be back next year!
