About this apartment rental
I'm offering a completely remodeled Railroad caboose located at 227 Lake June Dr. Lake Placid Fl. 33852. right next to the railroad tracks in the cutest little town you never heard of, Lake Placid Florida. The train passes by 5 days a week. The caboose has an addition on the back deck with a full bath and stacking washer dryer. There is a full kitchen and a barbecue grill. 2 TVs, high-speed internet and cable. There is a short queen Murphy bed and a mini split air condition / heater. You can go to YouTube and type in... "Simpsonville Station Caboose," for a short video tour.
Lake Placid is a quaint little town located about 120 miles south of Tampa in the center of the state on highway 27. The next closest town would be Sebring. It is 15 mi north of Lake Placid and best known for the 12-hour races at Sebring.
Lake Placid has 29 named lakes, so fishing and water sports are enjoyed by many who come to visit.
Lake Placid is also known as "The Caladium Capital of the World" You will see Caladiums growing in many of the flower beds around town, and the bulbs can be purchased from local vendors.
Another enjoyable feature of this cute little town are the 49 murals painted on sides of buildings. They are magnificent, and most are within walking distance. You can pick up a mural magazine at the chamber of commerce building where they also show a 10 minute video of some history of the town and murals.
Another great place to visit would be the old Lake Placid Atlantic Coastline Depot. The Historical Societies Railroad Museum is a great learning experience for all who visit.
There are parks, restaurants, and golf courses, something for everyone. So come spend a couple nights in the Railroad Caboose at the Simpsonville Station. Explore the lovely town of Lake Placid and take with you a lifetime of memories.
Please note, I take great pride in providing a pristine space for you to enjoy your vacation. To do so, I charge a minimal host fee for cleaning services, if anything is not to your satisfaction, be sure to let me know and I will personally ensure it is corrected.
Thank you for looking, Jerry

Host was excellent in all respects. Property is clean and manicured. Inside was clean and decorated to theme. Has a nice little gift store on the property. As a treat a train chugged by twice on the tracks behind the Simpsonville Station caboose.

One of a kind, unique property. Restored caboose by master craftsman. Really nice relaxing 2 day stay. Although we didn’t use it, it’s always a plus to have a washer and dryer on site. We give this stay an A+

Our stay at the caboose was perfect! Jerry did an amazing job on restoring the caboose. The details were very thought out! Clean and comfortable. I don't want to give out too many of the "extra special" features here. If you are thinking about staying here, hit book! Don't even give it a second though! Jerry is an exceptional host! We even got to see a train go by. We normally don't stay at places twice, only because we want to see other places, but I want to go back! Thank you again Jerry! The memories from staying at the Caboose will last a lifetime!

This is a unique experience. If you like trains, you will love this place. It is an actual, formerly in service, railcar (caboose). Jerry did a phenomenal job with this one. Also, the little town is full of interest history, from tallest concrete tower of its day to the 50+ murals. Enjoy!

The caboose has been restored into the most beautiful, cozy little home. Every detail was thought out and designed with thoughtfulness and care. If you love trains staying here is a must. Our host Jerry, was available for any issue we had and even made suggestions for things to do in Lake Placid. I would rate this a10, not a five.

What a treat it was to stay in this beautifully restored caboose! Jerry was an attentive and thoughtful host and this was perhaps the most unique and enjoyable experience we've had in our several years booking with VRBO. We'd happily stay here again!

We just spent a wonderful birthday weekend at the Simpsonville Station restored caboose. It was a truly unique and enjoyable experience. Jerry, the owner/host who restored the caboose is a master craftsman! His meticulous attention to detail both inside and out is incredible.
We started with a picnic lunch on the deck where we met Jerry and learned about his labor of love restoring the caboose. We were floored by the clean and modern interior that was both charming and authentic. He thought of everything - even left a birthday card for my husband in the caboose! It was a great setting to relax and get away from the hustle & bustle of work life in the city. He kept in touch with us to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed - the perfect host.
We felt secluded from the outside world during our stay and it couldn’t have been more enjoyable. Thank you Jerry, for sharing your special creation and for your hospitality. We definitely look forward to returning to the quaintness of Lake Placid & Simpsonville Station!

I stayed here while attending my first in-person race weekend at Sebring. The Caboose was very comfortable, clean and had all the convinces I needed! With a easy 20 minute drive to the track, I will definitely make this a top choice to stay when attending future race weekends! Bring some train movies to watch! Nothing quite like watching Burt Lancaster in 'The Train' while staying on a train car!

Attention to details inside and outside the caboose was extraordinary! Loved everything about our stay! Jerry was super easy to communicate with. Would stay at this property again.

Everything about this place is special. The owner outdid himself and his vision certainly paid off. The check in and check out process is seamless. This is not your average vrbo! The owner thought of everything for the kitchen, bath, bed, deck, and then some! Jerry made our stay so very special that we almost don't want anyone else to know about it because now it will be booked year round - YES IT WAS THAT GOOD and LOVELY! - you will not be disappointed. Clean, serene, and private. 5 stars ***** across the board! Thanks you, Jerry for making out time away so very wonderful! Can't wait to come back and meet you in person next time! - DL and ML

As written a cozy, comfortable, well equipped caboose cottage. Lots of little train touches throughout including a running HO train up in the cupola. Perfect place to stay for the caladium festival and sugar cane express train ride. Jerry checked in with us to make sure there were no problems throughout our stay. Beautifully restored and appointed.

What a wonderful experience this was. I always try to find a unique Rental when on vacation and this was certainly it! Jerry was a great host and made a beautiful home from this caboose. Well worth the rental if you are in the area!

The caboose doesn’t move anymore, but it quickly takes you to a stop of unique relaxation. The attention to detail ranging from the toy train in the cupola with its matching caboose to the well-placed Edison lights show the hand of an artist. Also appreciated were the two TVs and comfortable Murphy bed. The caboose—complete with its own crossing gate—is one ride you shouldn’t miss!

Can't give enough stars to Jerry and his property. The area is nice and quite, great place to stay an check out the area of Lake Placid as everything is close. Jerry makes sure that you have anything you need and you can see the pride he takes in the property when you check in and he gives you the tour. The craftsman ship and unique character of the caboose is something that you have to see. Very comfortable for two people and we will be staying again when we return to Lake Placid in the future.

Jerry is the most attentive and caring host I have ever dealt with. He wanted to make sure absolutely EVERYTHING was perfect during my stay. I was in town for a week directing Hurricane relief and this was the perfect spot for me. Now, I’m going to invent a reason to go back there, just to stay again. I cannot recommend this property enough!!!

This was a fantastic stay and it was very fun and interesting. Jerry has done a wonderful job creating a unique property for guests, especially those who are train enthusiasts. Many times when we stay places we find things in the community of interest, but this time we enjoyed staying in and just enjoying the property. Keep up the good work Jerry.

Unique place to stay, don’t think twice
This property exceeded our expectations! Simpsonville Station Caboose is so cool and beautifully restored by Jerry. Can’t say enough about the cleanliness, all amenities you would ever need, in a peaceful location that feels private and inviting. While in the kitchen look up, hit the remote, watch the HO scale train make its way around the track. Jerry is just a great guy, excellent communication and when asked, he provided history about the caboose. Lake Placid and surrounding areas offer plenty to do. The property even has a working railroad crossing gate upon entering the driveway. We would definitely stay here again, without hesitation.
