About this house rental
Hi! Thank you for viewing The Copley House of Akron!
This 1920 Colonial is located at 646 Copley Road in the oldest and most historic district of Akron, Ohio. We require a minimum of a
2 night stay.
FYI: If you make a reservation with us, remember that you'll be in our guest bedroom, not having access to the entire house.
Fee: $200 for 1 Adult
$50 each additional person
Guests have their own entrance to the house, and have their own set of stairs to the guest room on the 2nd floor.. We enjoy art, music, animals, hiking, cinema, dancing, yoga, body building, cooking, and gardening.
The SHARED SPACES are: Parking for up to 5 vehicles, laundry room, office , fully equipped gym, large kitchen, and an acre of land with fountains, furniture, and an above ground swimming pool!
The house has lots of history due to its location. We're 5 houses down from the Perkins Stone Mansion (founding family of Akron). The grounds once provided food and shelter for sheep and horses herded by the great abolitionist John Brown. It now has become a retreat for both of us, and 3 of the best cats you'll ever meet! Our past visitors have called the house "elegant, whimsical, friendly, and warm." Also, our past guests have said "even better in person then the pictures!".
The house has privacy from the busy Copley Road it faces, and the well-built walls and floors help keep the noise down. New plumbing and electrical work make showers and multi-media playing awesome!
IMPORTANT QUESTIONS TO PROVIDE ANSWERS FOR YOUR HOSTS: Please let us know answers to the following questions:
1. The names and relationship of any guests staying with you in the house.
2. Will your stay be for work, family, education, or pleasure?
3. Any early risers?
4. Would you like coffee or a light meal upon waking?
5. Does anyone have any allergies? (There are 3 cats that live in the house and the hosts have allergies to chemical fragrances and detergents, gluten and pork.)
6. Type of vehicle
7. Emergency Contacts
And finally:
Please feel comfortable communicating prior to your arrival if you would like us to provide you with meals and entertainment during your stay; or if you would like a "no contact" experience for peace and quiet. We will gladly make that happen. We promise and guarantee a clean, restful, convenient, and enjoyable stay!
For guests needing a stay longer then 7 days, we have a package discount rate per month stays. Please ask us about this if it applies.
Hi!
This is Rick.
We are new to VRBO and not sure if our site is clear yet. To answer: the cats are free to roam around their house. It's hard to stop them. We just took in a little boy cat. He and Tiggie are best buddies. Tasha couldn't be bothered. She's the older teen ager. She's my little girl though.
The house is 2800 sq ft. We have one extra room to offer to travelers. We enjoy meeting and and helping guests in our home at the Copley House. We always try to make our guests feel comfortable and receive the best hospitality! We hosted with Mr. BNB in Boston before moving to Akron and it was rewarding. We have traveled a lot ourselves and are sensitive, mature , and charitable.
If you want to be social or be on your own, either is fine and easy to accommodate.
Our house has the 1920's class and we have worked our butts off to make it a special place. I'm a violinist and personal trainer and Sean is fluent in Spanish and a former ballet dancer.
Thanks again for choosing The Copley House!

After a long flight and drive we were very tired when we arrived. The hosts met us at the door and proceeded to show us the room. They immediately said we owed them more money and said I only paid for one person. I showed the the vrbo confirmation that said I paid for an extra person (my sister) they then said that I only paid for one room and that rented out on a per room basis and that I owed an additional 140.00 for the second bedroom. I said no but they persisted in their demands. They agreed to a reduced charge of 80.00 and demanded CASH. The next morning they confronted us as we left or bedroom and demanded cash right then. I gave them the cash just so we could leave.
Our hosts live in the house and had a bedroom directly across the hall from mine. We went to the kitchen but they were there but offered to fix our breakfast but we just left.
WE SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT BUT WE HAD ALREADY PAID UP FRONT AND DIDNT HAVE THE EXTRA IN OUR BUDGET.
They continued to try to engage us in conversation that we didn't want even to the point of standing at our car window.
They told us that they were really trying to be a B and B and lied on their application so they would qualify as a VRBO.
This is not what a VRBO is supposed to be and a total waste of money. I would like to get a refund but I doubt that that will happen but just be warned they these guys are a pair of scam artist just out for your money.

Great host
Sean is a very welcoming host who prepared our room with the utmost care. I was surprised that the room was at the same level as the host primary bedroom with shared bedroom, but that was provided in the listing so you just have to be very carefull when reading the description. Overall, the place was very clean. I really enjoyed the company of two cats, who are well behaved.

Akron for Founders' Day
The house is in an older neighborhood, with all the conveniences nearby. Our room was comfortable and clean. We had the run of the property. Nice to just sit in the sun and enjoy. What made this a great stay was our hosts. Sean and Rick went all the way to assure our comfort. Conversations about where we had been and where they had been made breakfast so much more than we might have had at Days Inn. That personal touch and sincer hospitality made this stay memorable. Would stay again.

Above and beyond
I treated my son and his girlfriend to a concert weekend in the area and the owners went above and beyond to make them feel welcome and to keep me updated on their trip.

Loved it
We thought Sean and Rick were great. The rooms were clean and the WiFi worked well as we worked most of the time. It is a shared space and we enjoyed our time there and felt very comfortable.

Wonderful Stay!!
Sean & Rick are very gracious and hospitable hosts!💯 I love the energy they have. You’ll also never be short of company due to their two loving cats haha😁. It was a peaceful and very comfortable stay. Their house is so cute! I would definitely recommend this stay for anyone else traveling through Ohio.
Thank you guys so much for having me. It was a true pleasure to be there!

I felt very welcomed and accommodated. I booked a room just for myself but my sister and her husband came in at the last minute and they accommodated us without blinking and without excessive charge (in fact probably under charged us). They love the property and it shows in their care of it. I loved the historic nature of the home and and the surrounding area.
It is only a slight bit noisy with its distance to the main road.
