Most amazing place ever, will be back for sure! Great for adventure and rest

This is perhaps the coolest place I've ever stayed. The hosts pic you up in ATV and take you down a narrow path to the faja with consists of a number of guest houses, pools, grills, and a sauna. The setting is magical and isolated, a great place for some rest and adventure. We went on beautiful hikes and swam in waterfall pools. We loved every minute.

As casas são em regime de self-catering mas avisam logo em relação a esse pormenor e dão toda a informação necessária. Está tudo muito bem equipado. Sauna espectacular e super relaxante para quem acaba de fazer a caminhada desde o Topo. Quando chegámos tínhamos como cortesia um queijinho da ilha com compota, tostinhas e uma garrafa de vinho. O pãozinho quente que deixam numa bolsinha, pendurada na porta, logo de manhã e a reposição das cápsulas de café. A simpatia do staff com destaque para o Sr Beto.

This was a proper retreat. After busy time travelling around the Azores, Kuanza was a perfect place to rest in a beautiful setting. Nothing was too much for our hosts, who were always friendly and went above and beyond to help, with the fresh bread in the morning and cheese and wine on arrival especially appreciated. I can't stress enough how welcomed we felt from the moment we were picked up by quad bike (prepare for a bumpy ride!). The nearby lagoon was perfect for a swim, and this was also a great base for the Faja do Santo Cristo walk.

Unique, breathtaking location. Beautiful, well equipped cottages. Super quiet in the middle of pure nature! Accessible via a 30min hike or by quad. Friendly staff led by super nice host Beto! Worth every journey!!

We had a magical, restful, wild and beautiful time.

It’s something really special. Remote in a most beautiful natural part of the world. 20 minute hike, or 5 minute lift on a quad, and you are in paradise. Mountains on one side and wide wild sea on the other. The houses are rebuilt from ruins - have all the commodities but with character. The staff are outstanding. Swimming in the pools, the little sauna, the 15 min hike to lovely dinner nearby. This was pure back to nature and relaxation.

There was really nothing any of us didn’t like. I was sad to leave.

Incredible location and beautiful villa. Pools, sauna on site plus great hike and natural pool close by. A great place to escape to nature. Incredible ocean and mountain views from your door step. The manager Beto was always around to help and great to chat with.

Breathtaking tranquillity

If there was only one reason to visit Sao Jorge Island, it would be these guest houses. Went in November, the place and the area was totally tranquil, quiet and beautiful. Words cannot describe the experience. Location was unexpectedly perfect, the guesthouses are far from everything but still have all the comfort you can wish for. Beto was a perfect host, most helpful, attentive, friendly and informative.

It was not a problem for us but we were surprised that you can only walk to the guesthouses (20-25 mins walk!). It was exciting for us but could be a dislike for others.

We stayed here for 4 nights…if we could we’d stay for other 4. It is really a peace of heaven. We were lucky to find the house right in front of the ocean, waking up with the sound of the waves and having breakfast watching the see has no price. The walk is about 25-30 minutes from the nearest village reachable with car/scooter, it starts with a steep climb than gets more gentle, the view is amazing. The host Beto picked us and the luggages up in Cubres with the quad and was super helpful and welcoming for our entire staying. If you’re looking for a comfortable, peaceful and elegant getaway immersed in breathtaking nature…this is the place for you! P.s.: you’ll get fresh hot bread every morning right by your door.

A home away from home

Best hosts we have ever had. It's impossible to start somewhere but I will try to cram everything here within the word limit. We chose the villa in a rush simply because of its remote location on the far side of the island and the fact that it is about 20 meters from the water. That did not disappoint. It is one of the most quiet places you will ever stay in. The water is pristine, the sunsets are beyond gorgeous, and there are 20 minutes of forest separating you from anything else on either side. The houses are newly built, housekeeping does an amazing job, the wi-fi inside is better than in the main city and you have any utility you could need. On to the hosts - Nuno and Susan helped us with literally anything we requested help with. From fishing, to transport, to scuba, to spearfishing, sightseeing recommendations, food suggestions, you name it. Nuno has a friend for everything and he will call him and you're set. We had a pregnant woman with us and they made sure she could get around the hiking portions without effort. They treated us far more like neighbours than clients - invited us to dinners, visited us for evening chats over wine (that they insisted on bringing), took us on their family boat trip to an amazing shoreline restaurant that had barely opened (where Nuno always negotiates the best prices). They recommended one of the local restaurants they eat at - the Taberna - where Teresa will cook what I can only call the soul of the Sao Jorge island, either with their ingredients or what we brought from the sea. Maybe a michelin guide in the future. If you need help scheduling your trip to Sao Jorge and activities you may want to undertake, write them a while in advance. Wonderful place, wonderful family, amazing staff, beautiful island. 10/10
