Excellent house. Well equipped, even for dogs too! We enjoyed our time at Rise n' Shine 164, even though we lost wi-fi halfway through our stay.

Overall the location to the beach is nice. The house is in fair condition with some small issues that others might not notice (paint chipping, shower faucets aren’t great, some various junk around the pool, floors creaking). This is our first time staying in Waves, NC and we won’t again. We enjoy going out to restaurants and such and it’s relatively limited in the area. Essentially a 20-30 min drive north or south to expand options.

Our stay was lovely. We were a family of 9 with 2 dogs and there was plenty of space. The views from the beach were awesome and it was very private even though there is a campground next door. There were a few negative reviews after we booked our vacation last year which had us concerned but we were extremely happy with the Vacasa staff and their reassurance that the house would be clean and presentable for our trip. Sure enough, the house was clean, well kept, and clearly cared for. We had a few minor issues during our stay and the Vacasa team was very prompt in getting back to us and handling the issues. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for a week of eating at "home." The bathrooms were clean. The linens were fresh, the furniture was comfortable, and the layout was awesome (although be prepared for lots of steps if you plan to come in and out of the home frequently - the kitchen, primary suite and living room are on the 3rd floor). We would highly recommend this house for any family looking for a quiet and relaxing stay in Waves!

We had a great long weekend stay with friends and family in this spacious home. Visiting this area in the off season is very quiet and remote. We had the beach to ourself most mornings for sunrise and enjoyed happy hour around the pool table and hot tub. There was plenty of seating and entertainment room on the top floor and the large kitchen made group dinners very easy. We’ll definitely be back again.

I loved the location of this house, it was on the ocean. The layout was great for a larger group. The beds were comfortable and each bedroom has its own bathroom.
Access was easy with the keyless entry.
The sunrises were amazing from our balcony.
If you want a beautiful place to stay, this is it.

Loved the property and location. Some minor things need attention but nothing that took away from us enjoying our stay. I highly recommend.

House is right on the beach, and everything was clean and spacious. The beach was quiet, and there are a few cute shops within a short drive. A great place for kids too, as the downstairs play area has lots of space and games for all ages.

Should have been a 5 star rating but there were a few things that needed to be fixed. Vacasa was very responsive to our SOS's. House is really furnished very nicely. Beds all comfy. Bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms. Lots of indoor games to keep everyone busy on rainy days. If given the chance or need I would rent this house again and I would definitely rent directly thru Vacasa.

Great views!
Unfortunately the house seemed like it was not cleaned in quite some time. The house also was lacking general maintenance, from a broken second floor heating and A/C, broken screens, a broken spray nozzle in the kitchen and leaking refrigerator/freezer.
Otherwise, we had a relaxing week and stay on the beach...Oh, watch out for prickly spike ball growing in the front/side yard and path to the beach, ouch those hurt, got Luna a 🐾🐾 few times : /

This house is great for a large family as every bedroom has it's own bathroom. The view of the ocean is spectacular and there is new deck furniture on which to enjoy it. There is a campground directly next door (and slightly in the front yard, but it did not impact our beach space or view. The kitchen is well equipped and there is room for family time upstairs and downstairs. There isn't shade around the pool, so we set up a canopy poolside. The house could have been cleaner, but for a pets permitted home it was pretty good.

Just returned from a wonderful vacation on the Outer Banks. This house is fantastic! The view is unbelievable and the beach is perfect. The house is large with plenty of room for the 12 of us, plus a baby and a dog! House was clean and quiet even though there is a campground next door. We thought there was a Keurig for coffee, but there wasn't, but other than that the kitchen is well equipped. The sink did drain slowly, but one of us was able to fix it and it worked fine for the rest of our stay. Only complaint - no shade on the pool deck. It does look like you are putting up a pavilion, but can you get an umbrella in the meantime? Other than that, I highly recommend this house.

We liked how nice and bright the house was and the view is incredible. The close proximity to the beach was wonderful for the little kids. We weren't sure how it would be being so close to the campground but it was very quiet. There were definitely issues with the house. The hot tub never got hot, which was a bummer. The downstairs basement area could really use new mattresses. Not comfortable at all. The Game room was fantastic though! The kitchen sink never drained so we had to plunge is after every use. The sheets are pretty scratchy and they could also use a refresh. You can just tell this house has been used hard, but it served our purpose and our group had a great time even during Tropical Storm Ian. We never lost power although the rain came through some of the doors and through the doorknobs.

We rented this house before Vacasa took it over and we were notified of the change maybe 2mths before our trip. Not sure if it’s because of the change in rental agencies that made this house a wreck or if it would have been terrible regardless. While we still had a great time being with family on the beach, this house was a disaster and we would never rent it again. Vacasa did make an effort to rectify some of the issues but when we requested someone from management come out to see the house first hand to discuss all the issues, we never got a return phone call. Here are the issues we had with this property…
-the house is directly next to a camp ground so be prepared for tent campers to be on the other side of your fence in the backyard.
-we arrived at our 6pm check-in time to find the house filthy (spent 2hrs cleaning it ourselves) and 3 bedrooms were missing all linens and towels. We weren’t able to get ahold of anyone from Vacasa until after 9pm and didn’t receive the bed sheets until the next afternoon! (We were refunded our cleaning fee due to how dirty the home was)
-the beds are awful! We thought one of the beds was actually just a box spring it was so bad.
-there is virtually no outdoor furniture. For a home that can sleep as many is it does, we only had 5 lounge chairs on the pool deck and I believe 4-5 plastic chairs on upper deck (some of which were cracked). There was an outdoor sectional on pool deck that was missing all but one cushion so was unusable…and the pergola shown in the pics is mostly torn down.
-only had one working TV in the whole house and the remotes were all without batteries. Vacasa did eventually send someone out to hook up the TV’s but no one wants to deal with waiting for maintenance on vacation.
-the decking is VERY old and worn and we picked up well over a dozen rusty nails along with a long rusty chain next to the hot tub.
-also, while we did have beach access right next to the home, be aware it is public beach access and getting over the dunes is not easy (especially for anyone with special needs).
Overall, we love staying in Waves and having the sidewalks to ride bikes to the surf shops, etc is great. Highly recommend the area but I wouldn’t stay in this home ever again.

View was as promised, the house was seriously lacking. Feels like it was a lovely home about 10 years ago and has not had the tlc or maintenance required to keep up. Safety issues included pool railing being very wobbly, patio furniture rusted out with jagged edges. Carpet was totally gross, kitchen poorly stocked. Appliances literally falling apart. Kitchen table held together with scotch tape. Not enough seating inside or out. Missing a shower head in master bath. Vacasa did all they could to help, but frankly wasn't enough to overcome the state of disrepair and neglect the house had seen. Would not recommend this house.

When we originally rented, the home was listed with a different company and had much better ratings so we thought we were getting a great vacation home. From the pictures online and description, we were expecting a beautiful home but upon arrival we ended up needing to clean the house ourselves. So many appliances were broken such as fridge, oven, washer. Broken stove caused us to abandon our cooking in plans and spend a lot more money on eating out. Other items were worn out and need replacing. Area rug was taken for cleaning on first day and not returned. Soiled linens from previous renters were left in bins for our entire vacation. Wet foam mattress pad was removed from a bed and rolled up to store in the closet. Decks had screws popping. There were so many more issues that were not addressed during the trip to list here. For the exorbitant rental cost, we were expecting so much more.
The only reason for getting 2 stars was because of the great location. Being on a cul de sac allowed the kids to ride their bikes/scooters safely. Proximity to the beach and the pool was also a positive.
I would not rent from Vacasa again or recommend them to others. I hate to leave a bad rating but more should have been done to make our stay better.

We have been vacationing in Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo for 18 years and this was the worst rental that we have had and that is mainly Vacasa's failure to correct the issues we had. Hell, they didn't even respond. When I called with issues, I was connected to someone on the other side of the country. Save yourself the hassle, work with the local companies like Surf or Sound, Sun Realty, Midgett, etc. To start, we killed time on the island for four hours waiting for the house to be cleaned. We finally got the text that the house was ready and proceeded to the house. The house was not cleaned!! We spent the first three hours of vacation cleaning. We immediately call to complain, got someone in another state, she took a message and several hours later, someone with an attitude called back. We told her house nasty the house was and that we have been cleaning but refused to clean the disgusting bathrooms. I wasn't going have any of my guest clean other's hair, piss, and $hit splatter. She said someone would be out that evening, well no one showed and we had to call back again. One person came the next day to clean the bathrooms. Maintenance did come to fix a safety issue in one bathroom and left use two packs of roach motels. After a few days, we didn't see any more live roaches. We also complained about two tvs that were not usable because of missing remotes and power cords. I guess that was important enough for Vacasa since my guests in those rooms could not watch TV in their rooms. The biggest issue we had and the one that shows that Vacasa does not care about their renter is related to another safety concern. One of my guest got gouged by a rusted, broken catch on the gate. I was a deep puncture in her forearm. We cleaned and dressed it, tetanus shot was okay but she was not able to go in the ocean. I let Vacasa know and sent them photo of the gate so they could fix the issue before some else gets hurt. Well nothing again from Vacasa. We reported within the first hour that the ice maker was not working, no one ever came to fix it.
Now about the house. The location sucks! It is right next to the camp ground. The tent area is right over the pool fence. One the side of the house there is only a wooden rail, so you have a great view of the camp ground. You get to hear everything including their generators. At least the get turned off before too late. If you want a spot on the beach in the vicinity of the dune trail from the house, you need to get up early in the morning to claim your spot before the folks from the camp ground take over. In our 18 years on the island, this is the first time that we had to worried about getting a spot on the beach. The owners of the house need to get some maintenance done to the house. Some outdoor furniture for the house decks would be nice. Four chairs is not adequate for two levels of decks. Cushions for the pool deck furniture would be nice as well as a non water logged hot tub cover.

The sea view from the main room is amazing, the beach access is great, the house is very well equipped with pool table, baby foot, arcade, jacuzzi (though the kitchen is not that well equipped in term of kitchenware). The toaster was not working but Vacasa bring a new one very quickly.
