Beautiful, spacious, light-filled carraige house in a gorgeous historical neighborhood. Close to beach, shops, cafes. Janet was very accommodating and very hospitable. We loved it!

We came back to Chicago for a frineds wedding and wanted to stay near NU so we could go visit the campus after having a child that attended there. The ability to have beach passes and bicycles for use made the visit easy to get around since we didn't rent a car. The bed was exceptionally comfortable the the bedroom and living space are large. It was a really peacefull place to stay. Thank you for your ease with everything!

It is in a wonderful location close to walking to the beautiful Lake Michigan. The property is lovely to stay in. The property manager allows use of bicycles and hanging out outside in a back garden. Very friendly and generous.

A perfect, quiet, but centrally-located destination on the North Shore in Evanston, there's nothing but good about this historic coach house a block from Lake Michigan. The apartment is beautifully furnished, and full of light and charm. Comfortable room sizes, and lots of closets. Easy to access and very private and quiet. A nice roomy kitchen, with a pleasant dining area. Could not ask for a better getaway locale in Evanston. Will definitely be back soon.

We travel extensively and utilize VRBO frequently. This Coach House lives up to the listing and photos! Janet is a joy to work with and I will be back whenever the CH is available! Gracias!

Clean and fresh. This is a nicely decorated, well appointed and spacious rental. Communication with the gracious host was easy and cordial. The historical district is just beautiful; a great location to enjoy the lakeshore beach and parks.

Lovely space decorated by Janet. Janet has lots of information for enjoying the neighborhood. One clarification is that the VRBO listing is does not contain some key information about accommodating a third guest. Janet does cover this in the house rules which are attached as documents to email messages through the VRBO app. Thanks again!

We were delayed in our flight plans due to weather. We’ve communicated with the property manager that we were still trying to get out to use the remaining days. Instead, she canceled the entire booking when we didn’t come the 2nd out of 5 days. VRBO customer support was also not very good. They didn’t seem to know the policy on this. They were making references to the agreement for the owner’s rental policy that was completely inaccurate. I asked to speak to a manager, and no one called me back.

Beautiful old neighborhood near lake and beach. Good restaurants a 15 minute walk away. Spacious cottage, very quiet, well equipped and decorated. Only thing we didn't care for was the original Clawfoot tub/shower which was small and very awkward to use and get out of - no grab bar and a step down to the floor.
Super deluxe bed. Overall a great place !

Enjoyed our stay on property while dropping our new Northwestern student off to school. Appreciated Janet's personal touches, meeting us upon arrival, and getting us setup for our daughter to stay the first night before we checked her into her dorm. She even ran out to get an extra air mattress to ensure her comfort. Janet is also very knowledgeable about Evanston and answered all of our questions. Overall, the unit is comfortable and clean, in a spectacular neighborhood by the lake with easy parking and easy in and out if you plan to be on the run like we were. Thanks Janet!

This beautifully appointed coach house was the perfect place for a weekend getaway. It was spotless and had everything that we needed. We only wished that we had more time to spend on the beach (only a block away) and ride the bicycles that were provided. It was an easy walk to coffee, restaurants, and downtown Evanston. Finally, Janet was an excellent host and available if we needed her.

I stayed here for a few days while visiting family in Evanston. Janet was very communicative and helpful in all facets of my stay. The location is great and the place was just as advertised.Very clean and comfortable. The plumbing was a bit old / inconvenient but easily managable. i am very tall so had a bit of trouble with shower being a tub with curtain. But overall recommend as a great place to stay.

Very comfortable, adorable carriage house. Immaculately clean, spacious, bright. Convenient to multiple restaurants/ coffee places, two blocks from short trail near the water (though was rainy/snowing and cold during my visit). Wish I had rented a car given ample parking and cold weather during my visit.
I was a little caught off-guard during my check in process- Janet means business about the time of your arrival- my flight was delayed by an hour, and although I arrived in the listed 3-5 PM check-in window it was about an hour later than I expected- I did not realize Janet would inconvenience herself to welcome me to the carriage house. Janet also requested my driver's license and credit card as a deposit, which also caught me slightly by surprise. I respect this is her home not mine, but a warning about that aspect would have been helpful for me.

What can I say about the Carriage House and Janet except that they are both great!
First the location. The Carriage House is located a block away from the lake and beach, and is an easy walking distance to shopping and lots of restaurants. We visited to attend a Cubs game, and access to the EL was very easy.
Janet - She was fantastic from the time we booked the Carriage House until we left. From providing timely directions to her beautiful property, to a guided tour of the property, to a personalized Cubbie's welcome, she didn't miss one single detail.
This property is as described on VRBO. You won't go wrong by staying here. We can't wait to return!

Evanston
The 3 days we stayed worked for us. We were not there much, sleeping mostly. Would have liked window covering in the bathroom. Only window coverings were sheers in the bedroom. Claw foot tub was okay, but no where to put your soap, shampoo or conditioner. Perhaps something hanging or small table for these items? Also I didn't realize there was no toaster. My mistake but think that should be added as most units have one. I think it was over priced for what it was, but location was what we were there for.
