About this house rental
The Garden of Eden is a one of a kind oasis that will create memories that your friends, family, organizations and coworkers will talk about for decades to come.
Trying to describe this 6000 sf 6 br, 7 bath home and it’s 17 secluded acres of forest and lake will leave you scratching your head.
Let’s start with the obvious…
Outside: This is a nature lovers paradise.
It starts with the long private driveway that is draped with beautiful trees creating a canopy that says, “Welcome to the Garden of Eden.”
You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere even though you are just a short drive from Chicago and Milwaukee.
The 3.5 acre spring fed lake is stocked with a ton of fish for catch and release. So whether your child or grandchild is catching their first fish or you are a seasoned angler, you will have a great time.
We also have canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and many more water toys to make the most of the warmer months.
See if you can spot the family of beavers living on the island.
The sandy beach is great for kids and adults alike. Many toys for kids and floaties will be provided.
There are fire pits and s’more kits included so that you can eat and sing around the crackling fire while gazing up at the Northern Sky.
Throughout the property there are fish ponds and beautiful wooden bridges to get around.
Thinking about grilling? Fire up our gas grill and make a feast that your group never forgets.
There is so much more to the outside but we will let the rest be a surprise when you show up.
Let’s talk about the house… it was one of the most viral homes ever on Zillow and has been featured in numerous TV shows and many other media outlets.
The great room of the home will transport you into another dimension.
You might feel like you are visiting your favorite Rainforest Cafe, or possibly entering into a scene from Jamangi, or maybe even your childhood memories of the Flintstones.
Whatever the case may be, any stress of the world will be melted away by the warmth of the sun being exposed through the 20 foot southern facing windows and sky lights.
Whether you are watching the coy fish swim in the ponds, spending time under the banana trees, or Googling all the varieties of live plants, this is truly a special place.
Right off the great room is the most unique indoor pool you have ever experienced.
With a depth of around 5 feet this pool is perfect for kids and adults alike and will provide hours of fun rain or shine and warm or cold.
We keep the pool around 78-82 degrees.
With all that playing you will probably start to get hungry. Our fully stocked kitchen is ready to meet your culinary needs whether that is a gourmet meal or some frozen pizzas.
We have invested over $20,000 upgrading all kitchen appliances to ensure an amazing cooking experience.
Seating for 16 around the dining room and kitchen will allow for great conversations and many laughs.
Be sure to pay attention to the 16 hand made custom butterfly chairs. They are truly one of a kind.
Right off the kitchen/dining area is a first floor bedroom with en-suite bathroom for those who want to be close to the food or might have some mobility issues.
There are 4 separate staircases leading up to the second level.
Heading upstairs you will be greeted by 5 bedrooms. Each is quirkier and more unique than the previous.
High end boutique hotel like linens and pillows are used in each bedroom so you can be confident that you will enjoy a peaceful night’s rest.
Upstairs you will also find a TV room to watch your favorite movie or cheer on your sports team with a complimentary YouTube TV subscription.
In that area there will be an epic game room with many games to compete with your friends and family.
In the game and TV room there will also be a kitchenette for snacks and an authentic vintage popcorn maker with all the fixings to make it feel like an actual movie theater.
Do you like card and board games? We got you covered there with over 50 games to choose from.
Every inch of these 17 acres and 6000 sf are designed to create fun and special memories.
After a few tough years during the pandemic I think we can all agree that memories created WITH friends and loved ones are some of life’s greatest joys and blessing that are more valuable than any amount of money.
Tessa and I (Dustin) would be honored to have you as our guests. If you have questions or special requests please reach out and ask.
You will feel like you are away from the city but in reality you are so close.
We are 20 minutes from downtown Milwaukee and 90 minutes from the north side of Chicago.
There is a Costco, Target, Walmart, and many other grocery stores within a 7 minute drive of our home.
A special note from the owners:
Tessa and I are obsessed with creating high end luxury experiences for large groups of people.
This obsession has allowed us (at the time of this listing) to never have anything but a perfect 5 star review on any of our properties.
We are currently in the process of putting an incredible amount of time, resources, and passion into updates and special features that our guests deserve.
With a property of this size and magnitude it’s not an overnight process and we will continue to evolve and improve it over time based off our guests feedback.
We have three kids three and under so we equip our homes with ALL the things you need for babies and toddlers (pack and play, high chair, bowls/plates/cups, and life jackets, but please be aware there is significant amount of water inside and outside of the home that could cause serious consequences to young kids if not supervised, so consider that before booking.
With the custom design of this home there are many uneven and hard surfaces you could land on if you tripped and fell. The pool isn’t your typical standard pool and the surrounding pool deck is small and prone to being slippery when when wet.
Sleeping arrangements:
Bedroom #1 (first floor with close by bathroom) 1 queen
Bedroom #2 (second floor castle) 1 queen (up ladder) and 1 twin
Bedroom #3 (second floor blue room with en-suite bathroom) 1 queen
Bedroom #4 (second floor mammoth room with en-suite bathroom) 1 queen
Bedroom #5 (second floor) 2 queen beds and 1 twin with shared bathroom near bedroom #6.
Bedroom #6 (second floor) 1 queen bed with bathroom next to it.
Theater/game room: couch
Please note that with the uniqueness of this house, bedrooms 2,3, and 4 overlook the “jungle” part of the home and have very little sound privacy. If this is going to be an issue don’t book this place.
Bedrooms 1,5, and 6 are fully closed off like a traditional bedrooms.

From the pictures, we really didn't know what to expect but what you see is what you get and how much fun we had! From the rainforest living room to the full size indoor pool to the private lake to the stacked game rooms, the entire family had a blast. The location was perfect - 20 minutes to zoo, ball park. All in all it was an amazing time!

House had everything we needed.
We loved the fire pit.
Also loved the privacy. No curfew!
No issues. Kind host. Even let us in early when maids were done and let us stay an extra hour!

This place really was like staying in a jungle! It had everything you could possibly need,
… the game rooms, tv room and lake area were such an added bonus on this beautiful property! The pool is huge, it looks smaller in the photos and we couldn’t believe it! It was a wonderful place for a large group to get together and the ambiance was perfect! The host was super responsive, accommodating and we would highly recommend staying here for an amazing time! One of a kind!

Our 3 generation family of 14 spent a week charmed by the quirkiness and amenities of this home. Its individuality doesn't always translate to convenience and ease (rough surfaces and some aging original features) but we expected that from the very fair property description and the Maher's have gone overboard to provide many amenities and top quality accoutrements (even bedside chocolates!) The game room and "gathering" room are amazing additions and the cave/rainforest-like areas offer serene conversation spots as well as phenomenal photo backdrops. Kids had great times in the pool (thanks for the generous supply of towels) and many happy hours on and around the little lake. Outdoor seating areas and fire pits were really nice and s'mores supplies very appreciated-much attention to detail by the hosts. Great location. Definitely a worthwhile and one-of-a-kind experience!

Everything was as listed and was clean. We would go back. This was a large group of all ages.

The house had broken things-tub handle broken, unkempt grounds, pool inside was broken. There were construction workers there the whole time which we did not know about-only told about the roofer before we showed up.
Property was very private which is what we wanted but with the construction going on it was not private at all. No couch to sit on-all outdoor furniture inside
Plenty of beds and they were new and comfy. Not the best for elderly people-uneven steps to get into living room area. Lake was good and so was the beach area.

Spent a couple of days after prom w a group of kids. Everyone had a great time! Nice touches like towels on all the beds, little chocolates and s’more supplies. Kitchen is stocked w cooking for a large group. I felt like sleeping for 19 was a bit of a stretch. Otherwise, a great location for a larger group.

My family of 6 (with kids ages 10-15) stayed here as a staycation in the Milwaukee area during spring break and we had the best time! The pool was bigger than we expected and easily accommodated all of us. The amazing game room kept us busy too. We had family game nights around the big table and everyone enjoyed retreating to comfortable bedrooms when it was time for some space. The house is so unique! Part Flintstones, part Rainforest Cafe, part House on the Rock. The photos and experience will forever be a great story for our family. We’re already thinking about how we could plan a family reunion so extended family could experience it too!
The area immediately around the property is quite industrialized with large machinery/trucks, which we heard a few times, but the long driveway gives a feeling of remoteness and it would be beautifully secluded in warmer weather when the trees are leafed out. It’s only 10 minutes to a busy area with shopping, restaurants and family fun places (trampoline parks, go karts, virtual reality, movie theater, etc).
We mostly stayed indoors in March but the fire pit and beach are wonderful amenities too. You’ll never be bored here! (The fountain can be heard in most of the bedrooms and was a little distracting for the kids the first night but then we all got used to the white noise and slept well.)

We had a wonderful stay at the Garden of Eden. There were 17 of us who stayed 2 nights while attending a conference in Milwaukee. It was a great time. The house had lots of unique character. We spent much time together in the game room and around the fire laughing and enjoying space much better than any hotel. The surrounding property was gorgeous. We appreciated the great communication with the owner. The kitchen area gave us plenty of space to make our dinner and we loved it. Thanks for a great stay.

We had a blast and there were so many things to do we only wish we could've stayed longer. The hosts included a lot of little extras that made our stay even better and the house is well stocked so you don't need to pack much! The host was easy to contact and very prompt with responses. We will definitely rent this property again!

Had a blast staying at this wild oasis with a group of guys during a summer golf outing. With the choice between 4 different places, the group voted for this one and we were not disappointed. It was a fun, unique home base to spend a weekend, with tons of amenities, a cozy communal vibe, and a character all its own. It's clear the owners are putting a lot of love into this place, and they were great to work with before/during/after our stay. It's well worth the trip to experience this one of a kind creation with your friends/family!

Awesome! Crazy! Unique! Epic!
These are the first 4 words that come to my mind to describe the Garden of Eden.
I had seen this home on Zillow Gone Wild and when Dustin and Tessa were on the CBS Sunday Morning National News.
I knew I had to book this for my family and our friends.
The dates that worked best for us were before the home was completely ready but Dustin and Tessa were kind enough to let us stay there but let us know a few more things were still getting worked on before July 1st.
Each room and bathroom were so unique and crazy.
I felt like I was living in the flintstones house while eating at the Rainforest Cafe. lol
The kitchen was fully stocked and had all new and high end appliances which modernized the home.
We loved using the grill on the back patio overlooking our private lake.
The adults and kids loved the sandy beach and playing in and out of the water. The water is totally swimmable but isn’t crystal clear.
All of the bedrooms had very nice beds and memory foam mattresses and you could tell higher end sheets and pillows were used.
We all loved the extra touches like the s’more kit, tons of board games, extra blankets, and so on.
The pool was just finishing getting renovated and filled so we didn’t get to use that but when we come back again this will be an awesome highlight year round.
The Garden of Eden is a special place and we are grateful to be one of the first to experience it.
I highly recommend getting a reservation confirmed before before their best dates are sold out.
