About this cottage rental
Lake Escape is a very bright, fun, and charming little house on Crystal Lake! It includes its own private beach, bonfire pit, and 2 kayaks right on Crystal Lake! The private beach is also a sandy beach, which is rare for Crystal Lake. The location provides for lots of fun on Crystal Lake including swimming, sailing, kayaking, and fishing. It's also set in a great location for exploring Sleeping Bear Dunes, Frankfort, Lake Michigan, and the charming little beach towns of Leelanau Peninsula.
NEIGHBORHOOD:
The home is located on the fabulous north shore of Crystal Lake, which consists primarily of very high-end vacation homes, many of which are valued at over $1 million. The home is on legendary M-22 as it travels along Crystal Lake, so it makes for a great location for not only exploring Crystal Lake, but also taking M-22 north up into the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and exploring the fun and charming beach towns of the Leelanau Peninsula. The home is less than one-half of a mile from Rock's Landing, which is a lovely and very private high-end restaurant that is right on Crystal Lake and allows for dining right on the lake!
Outside of the immediate neighborhood, the home is just a few miles from downtown Frankfort (to the south), which has a charming collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, and a microbrewery (Stormcloud). Frankfort also has a fantastic public beach on Lake Michigan and a popular historic lighthouse.
Lake Escape is also just 2.7 miles from Old Indian Trail and the start of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (to the north). Thus, it makes for a great location for hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, tubing, and exploring all of Sleeping Bear Dunes!
From the house, Traverse City is also only about a 1-hour drive to the east. Traverse City is the business, arts, recreation, entertainment, dining, and shopping hub of all of Northern Michigan and it provides a vast variety of "bigger city" things to see and do.
THE SPACE:
This is a 3-bedroom, 1.5 bath single level home that is about 1000 square feet in size. The home is beautifully decorated with a nautical and beachy theme throughout the home.
There are great views of Crystal Lake from the living room, the dining room, and one of the bedrooms. The home also has a wonderful wrap-around deck with lakeviews from the deck as well.
The home also has high-speed Wi-Fi and multiple televisions with live streaming via Roku. Hulu, HBOMax, NetFlix, PureFlix, and Disney+ are all included.
TRANSIT:
It is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
The road (Crystal Drive) runs between the house and the lake. This may be a concern for families with small children.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The house was beautiful and very clean. My new husband and I loved sitting by the fire on the beach and watching the water. The kitchen was gorgeous and fully stocked with everything we could’ve possibly needed. We’re already talking about returning next year.

beautiful spot on crystal lake...spent the days swimming and
kayaking...and the nights under the stars by the fire.

This was a great stay for my family. It’s an older lake house that has had some nice updates, and has a beautiful view of Crystal Lake. As another review noted, there is a 45 MPH road between the house and lakefront, so I didn’t let my kids play outside alone. But we had a great time at the private beach and jumping off the dock, and visiting all the local activities. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful time at this charming house! We enjoyed the relaxing water of Crystal Lake right across the street and the proximity to Frankfort and Lake Michigan, as well as Sleeping Bear Dunes, Point Betsie, Glen Arbor, and other quaint towns. Was a fabulous mix of activity and rest and relaxation. The week went by way too fast!

Beautiful lake with Sandy bottom and clear water. We were there mid July and the temperature was perfect. House had nice lake views and the little private beach was perfect for our family vacation. The house so close to the road was a bit stressful because we had young children with us. Overall a wonderful vacation!
