About this cottage rental
Beinvenue and welcome to Garfield Cottage! This quaint house is located just steps from LSU campus and along the fast-developing Nicholson corridor. Located in a diverse neighborhood on a quiet little street, this spot is a prime location for all things LSU: Tiger stadium, Bernie Moore Track, and Alex Box stadium, but also near the Varsity Theater, Cane's River Center, popular Mid City restaurants and bars and easy access to the Mississippi River levee for running and cycling enthusiasts.
Neighborhood description:
Garfield Cottage is located in the Nicholson Corridor neighborhood of old south Baton Rouge, less than half a mile from LSU campus through an historic oak tree-shaded neighborhood. The neighborhood is diverse and filled with historic cottages and single family homes along with some multifamily buildings interspersed throughout. Mature live oak trees drape over the home and streets to create a beautiful and shady space.
Garfield Cottage is located about a quarter of a mile from BREC’s Magnolia Mound Colonial House and museum, close in proximity to downtown Baton Rouge with the Canes River Center, old and new state capital museums, Children’s Arts and Science museum and Planetarium, downtown nightlife and restaurants, and the beautiful levee walk. Go a little further to Baton Rouge Mid City for a variety of restaurants, bars, and activities, including the Knock Knock Museum.
What you will LOVE about Garfield Cottage:
Garfield Cottage is an older home- built around 100 years ago- and maintains much of its original charm: high ceilings, original hardwood floors, and raised pier foundation. Having said that, Garfield Cottage boasts many modern features you've come to expect: central heating and air conditioning, ceiling fans in every room, a king and queen size bed with a new and comfortable mattresses and cozy bedding, a full size and fully functional kitchen, along with clothes washer and dryer machines. There are extra blankets and pillows available plus box fans for cooling and white noise. The patio is pleasant for gathering- the table seats 5 and there is an umbrella to block the mid day sun. From outside, you can hear the campanile ring the hours and when in season, you can hear the sounds of the famed Golden Band from Tigerland practicing for halftime shows!

House was fine. Would be careful if female or family. Watched 2 separate dog fights happen in front of the house. Just make sure to lock the doors.

This was a few blocks from my LSU student's apartment and perfect for our stay. A nicely stocked kitchen with coffee, creamer, spices and a stick of butter was very helpful, as I picked up groceries but forgot the butter! The beds were comfortable, and the neighborhood was fairly quiet. There is a lot of light that comes through the blinds at night, so if you are used to a dark room, you might want to bring a mask. The Garfield touches were delightful!! Overall, this was a charming cottage perfect for a couple of couples max. I hope to stay here next time we visit Baton Rouge!

This little house on a side street was perfect for our quick stay. It was VERY clean and had all the extras we needed.
It is in a great location close to LSU, the fields, the stadium and all the action.
Abby was extremely communicative, super friendly, and she responded quickly to all inquiries.
Would most definitely recommend this little gem!

Overall the stay was great. Location to LSU campus is like 5min away. The owner was so nice, accommodating, knowledgeable, and we stayed in constant communication. The home is very well kept and clean. It was perfect for our family of four. The owner provided essentials just in case and that was so thoughtful. The only issues we had was the on and off of the neighbors security lights. If you are a light sleeper this is very bothersome. Besides that I would recommend the stay here. We plan on returning.

You can’t get any closer to being on LSU campus than this. So close to everything 5-10 min away. Easy safe walking distance to stadium on game day. The house has everything you could want clean, comfy beds, hot shower full kitchen and a washer dryer. Also Abbey is amazing she kept us up to date with everything from pre arrival instructions to events happening over the weekend. If my son chooses LSU I’ll be staying here quite a bit!!!

My husband and I traveled to Baton Rouge for our daughter and son-in-law in LSU law school. It was first time visiting Baton Rouge and we had a wonderful time. The beds were very comfortable and was nice to have the kitchen with microwave.
