nice cozy home and beautiful/relaxing back yard
2.0
This house was okay, and that’s it. We have stayed at much nicer homes on Dauphin Island and paid significantly less.
Cons: The backyard was an overgrown mess. I spent about 30 minutes sweeping pine needles off the deck when we first arrived so we weren’t slipping on them. The landscaping was just not good. I know this isn’t exactly something that can be helped, but the mosquitoes ATE US ALIVE, even with a fire, tiki torches and bug spray. The blankets provided were very thin, stained and ripped. The sheets were constantly sliding off the beds. The bed frames were cheap and squeaky. The propane tank was empty and we didn’t feel like going through the hassle of getting it refilled like we have in the past, so we did without. The fire alarms flashed an obnoxious light, we covered them with tape. Kitchen stove was greasy, not well cleaned. The refrigerator in the kitchen did not get very cold at all, we had to put a lot of our groceries in the outside fridge. The dishes and other kitchen supplies were gross. Carpets felt kind of sticky. Found decaying bugs in the corners of the bathroom. There is one TV in the whole house, that is in the living room and it is quite small for how far away it is from the couch.
Pros: Good size driveway for parking several cars. The neighbors directly across the street were very nice. Lots of towels were provided. There’s lots of space in the living room. Love that there were not cameras, like some other properties that make you feel watched all the time. The kids loved the basketball hoop, and that there was a basketball provided.
Overall, we weren’t impressed with this house. The condition of everything needs attention. Also, not sure why it’s not pet friendly, given its condition. We regret staying here, not only because of the high cost, but because it just wasn’t comfortable. I don’t like giving bad reviews, but I would have liked to have known some of this before I booked it.

Very clean and affordable with a variety of beds. House had everything needed. Beautiful outdoor area. Lovely plants in yard. The back deck was large, but back yard was a bit over grown. A lot of potential with the back yard area. Only one tv for the entire house, but we didn’t watch much tv. Water hoses, outdoor shower and sink available that helped wash sand off. Definitely worth the price.

Nice location

Whispering Palms is a great central location and easy hop to any beach or local food. Neighborhood is quiet and the back yard is like a secluded oasis.
While the home was stocked with the bare basics, it lacks the personal touches we’ve experienced in other Vrbo homes. There were no matches or fuel to start the fire pit (and the wood was left in the pit, so it was damp from rain), there are no spices aside from salt and pepper, and there wasn’t a single pen/paper or recommendation of island locations to visit. If you are looking for a house to stay in, this is great! If you are wanting a home to stay in, this misses the mark.
We loved Dauphin Island and would easily go back. We would even stay here again; we would just bring more with us!

We loved the home, especially the patio area and fire pit, where we spent most of our time when we were there. Our family had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again.

My sisters and I used Whispering Palms for our annual getaway and were very pleased with the choice. Dauphin Island is a relaxed place, especially in the off-season, and this house was a budget- friendly choice that still felt like a fun splurge. A few nitpicky issues (igniter on the grill didn't work, ice maker in fridge got clogged) but nothing that couldn't be worked around and nothing that significatly impacted our stay. We really enjoyed all the space in the house and the firepit and outside kitchen in the backyard. An exterior sink and fridge are a huge plus for prepping the fresh seafood that's abundant in the area. Local businesses, like the bike rental, are very accommodating; our bikes were delivered and picked up from the Whispering Palms driveway. Plus the house is an easy ride to the East and West ends of the island. You get all the fun of the beach without the hectic Gulf Shores atmosphere.

This was the perfect house for our short getaway. Only issue is the smoke detectors have a flash that is super bright and annoying when trying to sleep but overall it’s a nice place.

We loved the location of the house. Neighbors very welcoming. House needs outside maintenance, very overgrown. Outside patio and furniture in disrepair. Home on the inside was very clean when we arrived. Beds very comfortable except the sheets did not fit. Home missing table lamps in the bedroom, a broom, toaster, hangers and other smaller items. If you are planning on cooking in the kitchen it does not come with much. Great restaurants, visitor center, and beach.

This house is in a great location. It’s has plenty of room for a family. Definitely needs some attention to the outside landscaping both front and the back. The inside was clean for the most part, but needs a deep clean of baseboards, light switch covers, walls, doors, doorknobs, etc. The beds, floors, and furniture were clean. The outdoor shower was a fun surprise!
Other than the few things mentioned, it was a great house and contributed to a fantastic weekend!
Thank you!

House fit our needs for a quick stay. Bring your own streaming device for the TV, trying to use the LG useragreement is painful. They provide dishwasher pods but no liquid to use in the sink. Photo like flashes from the smoke detectors made the daughter and wife a little sckeptical to the point I removed them. All and all beds were comfortable and appliances worked as they should. Dogs in adjacent yards somewhat annoying.

The house was specials inside and out and allowed for a nice escape with friends while visiting the area.

Our favorite hangout was without doubt the deck in the back. We enjoyed riding bikes around the island, and of course, the beaches.

The house and location were lovely. However upon check-in I found the only trash can available (blue) for pick up was full of trash. On the property were two green trash cans we pulled from the side of the house to use. The day before trash pick up a Vacasa worker stopped by, pulled the blue can to the curb and rudely informed me trash will not be picked up from the green cans. He said to put the garbage bags next to blue can and they would pick up. They did not pick up the bags. 1 garbage can for 10 guest for 7 days is insufficient. Also partially eaten waffles and garbage was found under the sofa. Enjoyed the house other than these issues. Thanks

There were dirt under sofa pillows. Toilet seast not secured. Patio was nice and big. Towel racks needed in both bathrooms. Television local stations need some some work I without doubt would stay at that property again!

This is a nice rancher with nice furnishings and an outdoor kitchen. There were a couple of problems, though, that were kind of substantial for an outdoorsy birder in town for the spring migration. It was difficult to get fresh air into the house; almost none of the windows worked and those that did had major rips in the screens; the sliding door to the patio was missing a screen door. So, while I had planned on the advertised indoor-outdoor living, that wasn't possible without just leaving the doors standing wide open. Also, there were multiple flood lights on every corner of the house that were on all night. Unpleasant to be outdoors on the patio with them, and broken sleep as well, due to the brightness of the rooms. If these issues could be addressed (and the kitchen stocked with more common cooking utensils), it could be an awesome stay. The local Vacasa management was steller and responsive, however, and they did everything they could to remedy these issues, but there just wasn't time during my stay.

This place was just as it was on the website, quiet, clean and had a nice backyard and outdoor dining area. I would stay here again.

Wasn’t close to the beach which we knew but loved the beach access passes!

Great time in this house. Most of it was spent outside on the patio.

If you’re looking for a beach getaway, Whispering Palms should be on your list! Very quaint, clean and comfortable beach cabin conveniently located inland near the island shops. The mixed foliage surrounding the property provides good shade throughout the heat of the day, and the back porch area is a nice gathering spot for the family. We thought there was a problem with the dryer (turns out we just had to firmly press the door in) and there was a maintenance tech there within an hour or two. Highly recommend! Island is golf cart friendly as well

What a lovely home. The island landscape around the property, the beautiful deck out back with a lovely outdoor kitchen and eating area, the outdoor shower (perfect for washing off sand after the beach) and there was even a basketball hoop that my boys enjoyed so much!
We are a family of eight and we fit so nicely. The rooms were nice. The master bedroom, especially, was so pretty. One of my kids slept on the sleeper-sofa in the sunroom and, I believe there is another sofa-bed in the living room.
The bathrooms have been recently remodeled and were clean and beautiful.
Overall, I LOVED this home. I will definitely be recommending this property to my friends and we hope to come again in the future!
