Awesome house

We were 2 couples using The Stone House as our home base while meeting up with another couple for bourbon tours. This is an historic home that has been beautifully updated. If you like new, modern homes, this might not be the place for you. If you love old homes where the floors might not be completely level, walls were never plumb, and character oozes from every nook and cranny, you may love this place as much as we did. It is beautifully and stylishly appointed with loads of extra amenities to enhance your stay. There were several separate sitting areas for congregating and 3 dining areas as well as several levels of outdoor space, overlooking the Kentucky River. We loved it and would return again. Thank you!

Overall we had a nice stay. We arrived around 10 pm because of a late flight. There was a homeless man sleeping outside the front door. There was a large man sitting on the bench outside the bar next door. It was a little uncomfortable. After we got inside it was fine and felt safe. The beds were very comfortable. The TV in the room with double beds is broken or we could not get it working. We loved the location in that it was close to restaurants. Parking was a little tough and would have been nice to have a designated parking spot with the property. We enjoyed reading some of the books on the history of Frankfort. All in all it was a nice stay. Thank you.

Really unique and wonderful house

From the moment we walked in we were amazed at this historical home. It's in excellent and updated condition but still keeps the "rizz" that you want with these older homes. Three couples enjoyed the house for my husband's birthday bourbon trail weekend. The hosts were extremely accommodating. They even supplied coffee beans that made a remarkable cup of coffee! It was everything and more and we can't wait to go back. We even went to the Castle & Key Distillery who owns and operates this VRBO. We were 100% impressed with the Castle and Cocktails bourbon tasting experience and highly recommend stopping by. Thank you for a awesome weekend.

This house was the perfect cherry on top of our great bourbon weekend. Location was great and the house itself kept us in a bourbon state of mind with its beautiful history and decor. Would definitely come back again when we do more of the trail.

Great location! Very nice historical house! Nice town! The Distillerys were amazing. We were like kids in a candy store 😁

This property is fantastic! We had 7 friends get together for a long weekend to visit nearby distilleries. The house has 3 bedrooms upstairs (enough for 7 people), but I wanted to make sure that when everybody was awake, that they had room to spread out and enjoy. The house extends room by room from the living room by the street all the way out to the dining room overlooking the Kentucky River. Specifically, 5 rooms on the ground floor where everybody could either gather, or find a room just to relax and enjoy the ambiance. Every room was elegantly appointed and provided a unique atmosphere. The location was also key right next to great restaurants and shops.

The property was great. Large enough and nicely decorated and supplied. Definitely felt that this came with more things than the average rental. Convenient location, street parking was not an issue. I would do it again.

We absolutely loved it! The only improvements that could be made is a hot tub and another bathroom

Location is 100% perfect if you are looking for historical (museums and state capital tours), bourbon, or family activities. The house is a wonderful blend of all the ambiance of an older home but restored to make it comfortable in 2022! Here is the list of details that really made it nice!
- bedding and beds are wonderful (clean, well layered blankets & pillow options!)
- Wi-Fi worked in the entire house well!! My husband and I both work and needed a few moments during the trip with Wi-Fi and you can easily use the Wi-Fi in any space!!
- Clean bathrooms & kitchen- top scores here!! CLEAN!!!
- Kitchen had great glasses and plates, way nicer than they needed to be, and it was fun to have see a few pieces of pottery that Castle and Key made (will be trying to purchase them online later) or Hadley Pottery- nice rocks glasses too!!
- New bathrooms blended well with the older home but hot water never ran out and great water pressure!! Really well done!
- Location- we walked to dinner every night (Bourbon on main, Goodwood, and Sera phi i) and food was great, local taste and local care. Kids welcomed at all and great foodie food!!
-bookstore, candy store, couple donut places and a fun diner all made for great walks when the kids wanted to “screen”-
- Lastly we stayed there during December and it was cold outside but inside was great. I enjoyed that a few windows had that old home draft but because the space was warm you could enjoy that feeling without being cold…kind of hard to explain but the charm without a lack actual temperature fluctuation. Loved the old floors too! Restored in a really mindful way!
I think they went above and beyond in the house! Extra’s that we loved:
- “the book room”- found my 13 YO and 11 YO belly down on the floor looking at history books with wonderful pictures. We defiantly “rearranged” the books but they were fun for everyone! Bourbon cookbooks and great old KY fun info!
- THE BATHROBES…..I left this for last because it was everyone’s favorite. They have these wonderful pure white, plush bathrobes that we wore the entire time we stayed! My 7 year old didn’t want to take it off to go eat dinner! We will be looking them up on line to buy some for sure! I took a great picture of the family on the stairs in the matching white logo robs that will defiantly be on the walls at home to remember our trip!
Thanks for the memories and all the detail you put into this home!! Sarah

Enjoyed a three night stay at The Stone House. This place has so much history and charm. We could have spent a entire day reading/learning about this historical landmark. You also do not have to travel far for restaurants, distilleries and other area attractions. Perfect for our group. Thank you for providing this property for others to enjoy.

This is a beautiful property - LOTS of living space, large bedrooms, minisplit in EVERY room letting each party control the temperature for sleeping (loved this feature); exceptionally appointed and extremely well-stocked for everything you might need. Some things that you might want to know: 1) you're on a busy road, there is noise, but nothing a white noise maker can't solve; 2) all those minisplits create a constant humming noise in the house - again, not a big deal to me, but notable; 3) the biggie - the bathrooms... There is one very small new hallway full bathroom for all the shared bedrooms on the second floor - no master suite. The other full bathroom is downstairs a fair distance from the bedrooms. The parking wasn't a big deal, easy to find a spot and I don't think there is a meter maid in all of Frankfort. Brewery and diner just steps away and another block away was full of other places to eat, drink, get coffee, etc. Probably not well-suited for young kids. We had 4 adults and it worked out great.

What a beautiful place to stay! Beautifully restored old home with lots of charm and very comfortable! Also right on the river where we watched the boats go by. Very easy to get to the distilleries and local restaurants. Highly recommend!

My family was in Frankfort for an event where we needed to host extended family and friends. We chose this property because the pictures were beautiful, the location was great, and it accommodated 7 of us. It was less expensive than everyone getting hotel rooms for 4 nights and we were able to be together more. When we got to the house, we were blown away with how nice it was and how well stocked. It had everything we needed and then some. And we had space to eat meals and hang out together, and then to spread out as well. Our friends were equally impressed. Even the teens loved the historic vibe. Communication with the owners was great, the space is just amazing, and it is in the heart of downtown. We just walked out and toured the local flavor. We cannot recommend more highly. We were sad to leave and would definitely stay there again.
