This trip was one our family will never forget! It was our first time to Michigan and this property did not disappoint. We booked all of the properties at Lavango hideaway and it accommodated everyone in our large family. Any issues that we had were promptly solved by the owners- they are very helpful and honest. The only note I will put in here is that the bathrooms may not accomodate all sizes, they are rather small. We didn’t have any issues with our group, but I know it could be an issue for some.

This was a great location and set-up for our annual family gathering, 17 of us representing 4 generations from ages 1 to 79. This was a great set-up with 4 different cottages to utilize. The cottages were stocked with the essentials for our stay, although we had to sometimes figure out where everything we needed was located. The convection ovens and induction cooktops were a bit of a learning curve and instructions would have been helpful, but we figured it out. It's worth mentioning most of our group thought there should be additional or different chairs outside as the Adirondacks are more difficult for some to get out of, also that the showers were really small, the "pass-through" bedroom in the larger cottage was a little warm and could have used a ceiling fan and more storage for clothes so we didn't have to live out of our suitcases would have been nice, but none of these are deal breakers. We loved the supply of games to supplement the ones we brought, the beach, the lake, the yard and the firepit. When we needed to re-stock, we got groceries at both Ralph's and the Family Fare in Oscoda. Also visited Cedar Lake Grocery for fresh hot donuts (Saturday and Sunday), the Alcona Coffee Shop in Harrisville for ice cream with homemade waffle cones and Harrisville State Park for some rock hunting. All in all, this was considered to be one of everyone's favorite vacations we've done and we'd love to come back again.

The cottages were clean and well stocked. We had toddlers through teens and it was a perfect property for kids of all ages. The cement patios and grassy area provided a play space for younger kids close to the cottages while the older kids could play in the sand and water in full view of parents. The owner was very responsive both before and during our stay. The hot dog roast in the fire pit was a highlight. I suggest bringing a crockpot if you’re cooking for a crowd (no ovens) or else grilling. The kitchen in the 3 bedroom cottage is actually a small kitchen with an additional kitchenette. All the cottages except the largest one had tables and chairs inside as well as outside for eating. Thankfully we had wonderful weather all week and really enjoyed eating outside with the lovely umbrella covered tables. As others have mentioned, the bathrooms are small and we did make some cottages assignments based on who could fit most easily in the shower of the smallest bathroom. But that was minor, particularly since everyone was swimming everyday in beautiful fresh, clean Lake Huron. The cottages were also amazingly quiet given how close we were to each other and to US23. This was our favorite family vacation and we hope to make it an annual tradition!

Beach was wonderful and the cottages were comfortable, except for one cottage had a very small bathroom. Not great for plus size people. Overall a great place to go.

The property is beautiful! Each of the three cabins and the house were nicely updated and clean. The proximity to the beach and water was amazing. The grass was large enough to play lawn games, so having both sand and grass was perfect for us.
Bryan was very helpful and communicative and even bought a tie out for us to use for our large float!
Just so you know, the bathrooms in the cabins are very small, and there are no ovens on the property at all. We had planned for the no ovens so it wasn’t a big deal for us, but the size of the bathrooms was a little bit of a surprise and slightly challenging for an average sized adult.
The bedroom in the house that is closest to the road, could be treated as it’s own little suite, as it has a bathroom and kitchenette included in the space (with both a door to the outside and a door that closes it off from the room next to it). The kitchen in the house is tiny, but the additional space in the kitchenette was very useful (counter space both for storage and meal prep).
There is a fence (with two entrance gates) that separates the parking area/busy road, from the property which I found to be very nice. Even though you can technically go around the fence (not completely fenced in), it made the proximity to
U.S. 23 not as dangerous or loud (think small kids or pets).
We love the property so much that we are booked for the 2025 season (our week in 2024 was already booked) because the property is that enjoyable!!!

the only thing that I wished I knew is that not one of the four cottages had an oven. we brought up dinners with us that we couldn't make.
other than that we absolutely loved the cottages and would stay again
