The home was beautiful and perfect for our family. Loved being on the Sound and thoroughly enjoyed the high and low tides. Property manager was quickly responsive when we had a question.

Easy to get many places from the house. Beautiful views from the large windows. Access to Acadia very close and many restaurants and shops nearby. Beautiful house - we enjoyed our stay very much.

The house was a highlight of our trip. We loved being right on the water.
The hosts went above and beyond in every way. From great recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. I would give 500 stars if that was an option. We loved it!

What a great place to stay. Very clean and the owners were so detailed with check-in and check-out instructions. Short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We’ve stayed in several VRBOs and I can say these were the most comfortable beds yet. We spent every day watching the eagles from the dock and got some great pics of them too.

Our family of 5 loved our 3-night stay in this beautiful home! The expansive windows on each level of the home provided a panoramic view of the Sommes sound waterfront, allowing us to see the coming and going of the tide and fishing birds. We enjoyed a fantastic hike and scenic drive in Acadia National Park, just 20 minutes away. Bar Harbor, also only around 20 minutes' drive, was a great place for a nice meal out. The home itself was warm and cozy, with great heating, 3 spacious bedrooms, a well-appointed kitchen, and a wide-screen TV and great couches for family movie nights. The host, Robard, was incredibly helpful, shoveling show from a late-season snowstorm. The home itself was immaculately clean! We would love to stay in this home again someday!

Our group enjoyed so many features of your property....location, views, comfort and fast response from the owner! We even talked about when we return to Maine would we stay here again and the answer was YES!

Next time we will plan to stay longer! Everything was perfect!

The house was wonderful and the view was awesome! Fishing from the kayaks was a plus!
Area hikes were close by. Traffic noise on the main road was a downer but once in the house or on the dock one did it notice.
Great place for memories!

This property is somewhat centrally located on MDI, and gives you easy access to trails, lakes and mountains. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, plus there is a common bathroom on the main floor. There are plenty of nice quality, thick towels, as well as small size shampoo, conditioner, and soap in each bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped, and the living room is very comfortable. The mattresses are firm, and the pillows very comfortable.
We really enjoyed the wildlife that we saw right in the back yard. There is a mink living in the stones behind the library, and we had 2 adult and 2 juvenile bald eagles visit on 2 occasions. Numerous ducks and seagulls bathe in the water at low tide. The star gazing is excellent from the back deck (turn off the house lights).
We did not have the best weather for our visit, but the choices of things to watch on the TV seems endless. We also put together one of the puzzles, and drove around the Park Loop Road to get an idea of what activities we wanted to do. The Island Explorer picks you up right at the library next door if you want to explore the island that way. Highly recommend the e-bikes - we rode for 22 miles on the carriage roads and it was a lot of fun.
You also will not find a more friendly and responsive host than Robard. He responded very quickly to all of my questions and was very helpful to us during our stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely property. Thank you, Robard, for sharing your property with us!

Lovely home, property and very gracious host Robard, who was not only pleasant, but also very responsive to some minor issues we inquired about.
We elderly grandparents stayed in the lower level area. The stairs going up to the second floor were a little steep for us, but our son and family really enjoyed the privacy of having their own sleeping level, as did we.
We will return to this private retreat as the kayaks and paddle boards provided beckon us to do so. Somes Sound is so very peaceful and soothing. And the family of 3 Bald Eagles left a lasting impression in our granddaughters’ hearts.

Robard was an excellent host and responded very quickly to any issues or concerns. The house was impeccably clean, with all the spices you would ever need for cooking including soft drinks, water and bags of various chips. The kitchen had the best view of the water when preparing food with 2 refrigerators, what a plus. The location was right on the Somes Sound with views everywhere including mother nature; eagles, hawks, geese, ducks, and of course sea gulls. The eagles and hawks were always there during low tide standing on rocks right in front of the home within 20-30 feet; it was just like the wild wild world of animals. The house is minutes away from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Hiking and shopping is great as well as lobster rolls. Our family of 6 and one little one had lots of room to relax in the very spacious home.

Our family of 4 had the most incredible stay at this beautiful home, which is perfectly appointed, immaculate and cozy, and nestled on the Somes Sound, so you have incredible, clear tidal water right at your backdoor and all the gorgeous landscape and animals that come with Maine: bald eagles, ducks, geese, alewives, deer. The property is tucked between a library and art gallery (both magnificent), which makes it all the more special, with an adjacent Somesville waterfall moving at all times, connecting various waterways and providing such a soothing environment outside. Somesville itself is a teeny community that makes you feel like you've stepped into a Robert Frost poem, yet only a few minutes away to Acadia and Bar Harbor, as wells as a bunch of fun spots for meals, hiking, sightseeing, shopping, etc. We fell in love with this special, idyllic place and know you will too.

We loved our stay. It was incredibly comfy and cozy for myself, my husband, my two sons, and my parents. Everything in the house is done with so much thought and you cannot best the view. We could have spent the whole time watching the tides come in and out. My kids LOVED the kayaks. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Bar Harbor/Acadia.

We had a fabulous time at this beautiful home in Somesville. It was like a National Geographic show every single day: bald eagles, seals, geese and goslings, osprey, and the rise and fall of the tide. The home was well-equipped, and the beds and couches were very comfortable. The living room was a great place to watch movies in the evening. The location was perfect for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia daily. Our favorite meals were The Travelin Lobster for THE BEST lobster roll, Abel's for whole wood-fired lobster, and Jeannie's Great Maine Breakfast. We would love to come and stay here again!

We enjoyed 5 wonderful family days in a beautiful home in the heart of Acadia. The home was not only very clean, beautiful, and comfortable, but its location encouraged an active, easy, and pleasant encounter with lots of Acadia wildlife, especially birds, seals, and fish. Top this off with hosts that were eager to help if needed, friendly, communicative, and professional and you get a place that we would return to in a heart beat. We had wonderful views and were near all that was good in Acadia NP. My wife and adult children were very pleased! A+++! Needless to say, I can go on and on about what a great time we had. Our hosts, Mercedes and Robard, were greatly prepared and eager to meet all our needs. This place, location, and hosts make it a big prize winner for a family stay!

Out of our many visits to MDI, this by far the best location we’ve stayed in. If you are interested in exploring and having easy driving access to the whole island, this is location is great option. It’s about a 10-15 minute drive to Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor.
The house is very well kept and the views are spectacular.
The access to the water with a private dock in the back adds to the uniqueness of this property.
When we return to MDI, we will definitely be staying at this location again.

We so enjoyed our stay on Sounds Sound! Easy access to the park and surrounding areas....constant views of the sound with tides coming and going and much wild life, including bald eagles. The home was beautifully decorated (exactly as pics show), spotless, and welcoming. Well stocked kitchen, great linens, and incredibly comfortable beds. WiFi was fast and consistent. Small caution to anyone 6'4" and taller - there are beams that my husband had to bend under in the main and lower levels, but not really an issue. Hosts were kind and informative. Highly recommend!

The location of this house is unbelievable. The view at anytime of the day is amazing! It was hard for us to leave and see anything else! The home was clean, updated throughout and very comfortable. Having our own waterfront view of the wildlife was amazing. It was the best rental we’ve ever stayed at.

Beautiful setting very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Great communication from the owners.
Highly recommend!

The hosts went above and beyond to make our vacation the best. The property was modern and had a beautiful view of the Sound. We drank our coffee every morning and watched the wildlife, eagles, ducks, geese, deer, from the front window. The property is centrally located on MDI so shopping, restaurants, and the many outdoor activities are within minutes drive. This was the perfect winter break vacation.

What a wonderful winter getaway. This rental property has all a family would ever need. Spacious, Super fast Wifi, great location, large Smart TVs, water filtration system, and hosts that go above and beyond. Bar Harbor is a quick 10-15 minutes away.
Robard was so quick to answer any questions. He would even come by and clean the snow off the driveway and place salt so we would have no issues getting out. Robard even cleaned the snow off of our car before departure.
My family is actually looking forward to coming back sometime in the future in the warmer months. I hope the property will be available when we book our future trip!
You will have no regrets with this vrbo!

It would be difficult for me to say too many good things about this rental. The location was perfect for visiting any town on the island. The house had everything we needed with the great view. We saw a bald eagle every morning when we woke up, very nice. Communication with the owner was excellent! Thank you for a great stay, Robard!

The home owners have done a wonderful job modernizing this beautiful cottage. It has so much charm, natural light and incredible views. The house has been updated with beautiful modern CLEAN bathrooms and big screen TVs which we enjoyed watching the baseball playoff games. Plus there is a whole outside dining area with the most incredible views. The location of the house to Acadia National Park is perfect. Just a quick 15 minutes to the Cadillac Mountain park entrance and many trails and carriage roads. We had some great meals in Bar Harbor too. The hosts were very accommodating and generous with some snacks and chocolate which were enjoyed after our long journey from Missouri to get up to the NE. Highly recommend!

This property was very clean, nicely appointed, and had beautiful views. The property manager was proactive and professional.
We had a lovely visit and enjoyed staying there. It's about a 10-15 minute drive from Bar Harbor, but the drive was so pretty, it was a pleasure. Kayaks were a treat, too!

We had never been to the Arcadia/Bar harbor area of Maine before and so glad we chose this perfect home to spend quality time with family! The layout is ideal with 2 master suites and 3 bathrooms, so everyone had private space as well a large gathering area with beautiful water views! Upscale amenities , bedding along with everything you would need in the kitchen! The weather was perfect for kayak sunsets and breakfast on the dock The hosts could not have been more attentive to ensure we had a great trip.
Close to Arcadia Cadillac mountain entrance as well as Bar Harbor waterfront, but honestly just spending time here created such great lifetime family memories.

Robard was an excellent host. I had to call him a couple of times for some minor things and he responded very quickly. The house was impeccably clean, with three floors. From the towels to the shampoos and conditioners, the kayaks the lifejackets, beach towels etc. everything was just so well thought out and perfect.
