About this cottage rental
CCSunset Cottage is an ideal place for photographers looking for a great sunset view or bird spotting, and a perfect place for a single-family or couples who like to spend time outdoors either on the large deck, dock, patio, or yard doing activities with friends or family. We provide a couple of yard games, a lily pad, kayaks, and a Paddle Board, you provide the fun. The house is located in a deep water area and is great for fishing. Catfish will hang around the dock and will appreciate it if you feed them some catfish food around dust.
The house is located at the end of the peninsula, facing the main lake. To the back is the channel, which is navigable and another good area for fishing, kayaking or just exploring.
The house is on the smaller side for those who like to be indoors, but sit on the couch and look out over the lake, and you will feel as if you are on the bridge of a cruise ship.
There are water views from all the windows, whether it is the channel behind the house or when you walk from the bedrooms to the kitchen, and you get a panoramic view of the main lake.
In the summer months, we are generally treated to gorgeous Sunsets and the water will be calm most of the time. It is one of the best spots on the lake for water sports and lake activities. There are a couple of community boat ramps 2-5 minutes from the cottage. Penwaugh Marina is a stone's throw on the channel behind our place. It is very convenient for fuel or just need minnows or a fishing report from the owner of the marina.
The house is approximately 15 min from Onalaska and 18 minutes from downtown Livingston for groceries or restaurants. There are a couple of dollar stores nearby for general items, 5-10 min away.
The water around the seawall and dock is extremely deep. We provide life preservers for kids and adults. Kids need adult supervision at all times.
Diving headfirst into the water off the dock or seawall is not allowed. There are some submerged stumps around and the storms can move waterlogged trees about, so jump and swim at your own risk.
- Check-in is after 4 pm, though It is highly recommended to try and make it in before sunset most nights, you will not want to miss it!
- Parking is limited to 2 vehicle(s). If you do have an extra vehicle or a trailer for a jet ski or a boat, please let us know in advance
- There are sleeping accommodations for 7 with 2 queen beds and a 3-level bunk bed spread out amongst the 3 bedrooms (Top Bunk Bed for Kids only).
- Parties are not allowed and guests are expected to respect our neighbors and not be noisy or play loud music from 10 pm - 8 am.
- No smoking is allowed inside the house.

My family enjoyed our stay at the lake house. The owner was very communicative. We were celebrating my son’s 8th birthday, and they had a card and candy laid out for us.

The Lakehouse was an awesome getaway, from a great upper deck to watch over the lake views and sunsets, boat lift with a deck to sit over the water and fish from, great views from inside the lake house, host had a cabinet full of family games, garage was full of family games also for the rainy days of spring break, and the lakehouse host is very responsive and helpful if anything comes up. Overall we enjoyed our time and lakehouse is very close to plenty of in town food, drinks, and grocery stores if anything were to come up.

First and foremost, the place is awesome! The views of the lake are surreal! Jim and his team went above and beyond to accomodate us. The place comes with everything one could possibly need. I have stayed at many Aibnbs in my lifetime, but I would say this is the best one!

What a great way to spend a long weekend with family! The house was well-maintained and provided plenty of space as well as plenty of things to do for all. Paddle-boarding and napping on the lily pad were both a hit. Relaxing on the deck and watching the beautiful sunsets while catching fish made the time stop and created some fun memories. Cheers and thanks to a great host!

We had a wonderful time! The house was perfect.. location, comfort and view. House had everything needed from cooking, water fun, ect. We brought our boat, the deck worked out perfect to dock for the weekend. The house is located on a beautiful part of the lake. Mr. Jim was very helpful and was super easy to communicate with.

We spent a weekend in August 2023 and had a wonderful time. We had two adults and five kids ranging from age 2 to 13 and we had plenty of things to keep us busy. The rope swing was the favorite along with the kayaks and lilypad. Even with low lake levels it was plenty deep for swinging and jumping from the dock. We didn't fish but the set up was perfect for it. The garage is a treasure trove of water toys, life jackets, and outdoor games.
Out of the water, my kids loved the board games and the toy ax throwing set. We all enjoyed the sunsets!
The check-in instructions were clear and the owner left a binder with helpul information about the local area. In terms of the home, one bathroom is on the main level with the bedrooms while the second bathroom is on a lower level by itself. This made mid-swimming bathroom breaks easy. Otherwise, it had everything we needed and made for a great family getaway before school.

We loved our stay! We went with our 10 and 13 year old for a relaxing weekend. The kids had so many things to play with in the lake and the fishing was great! The house is perfect, super comfy with a BEAUTIFUL view of the lake. James was always a text way and even checked in with us to make sure we found all the toys in the garage. We can't wait to go back, thank you for opening your beautiful home!

Everything was perfect. James was charming and on top of all of our needs. The house was amazing and stocked well. Everything was fresh and clean and the home is adorable and the area is so quiet. I got the best sleep in my life. The beds were fluffy and comfortable and the fan in the bedroom was wonderful, cooling and quiet. I would definitely stay at this location again. Even with Labor Day turning into a rainy mess, our weekend was still so much fun. Sunset Cottage is the perfect escape for just hanging out and resting. The owners take excellent care of the property, and make the entire experience feel so welcoming.

We had an awesome time and the host Jim went out of his way to help us with everything and ensuring our stay was great. Jim even bought a pack of playing cards for us just because we happened to mention if the rental had any. Now that is awesome hosting! Thanks to both Jim and his wife for the experience. We highly recommend this rental.
