Was ideal for a 1 night stay, we only used the hotel to sleep in but was in a great location and all the staff were more than helpful
1.0
Unfortunately not a good stay for the price we payed, they had contractors in doing alot of work and making alot of noise, swearing in the corridors and creating alot of dust around the elevators
2.0
Friendly,helpful staff. Great location.
2.5
It is very close to the station and Royal Mile. Not easy to access the hotel from the Waverley station. Need to navigate uphill via Cockburn Street with your luggage or you access North Bridge from Prince Stree. The building is very vintage but the interior is newly renovated. We stay in an executive room with lounge access. Nice lounge with different drinks and snacks. The room is spacious but the only shower is available but you've got all you needed in the room.
2.5
Absolutely amazing stay, so quiet and peaceful yet in the heart of everything.

When arrived told we had been upgraded to a bigger room but would be a smaller bed than we booked. Room was abit bigger than a usual hotel room but carpet did have stains and stains in shower and was poo marks in bottom of toilet, wasn’t bad enough for me to complain to staff. Staff were always happy and smiling and the communal areas were nice and clean

The staff were very welcoming and helpful on our arrival, even though we were an hour early. The gentleman who secures luggage also showed us to the restaurant area whilst we waited for our room to be ready. Very helpful and informative, explained that the hotel is being renovated enabling a direct route from the train station.
Overall, everyone was helpful. Food was tasty and to a good standard however the buffet breakfast items such as bacon, sausages, eggs had cooled, not sure the hot plate was working properly.
Bedroom clean, but decor becoming tired, needs revamp.
Comfortable beds!
Lovely overnight stay and the people who worked there were helpful, friendly and patient!

We had a lovely stay however was really inconvenienced when a faulty air con system made a loud buzzing noise at 3am which needed reception to turn off. If it hadn’t been for this I would have rated you 5 stars.

The hotel had a great location, unfourtunatley it were under construction, however that didn´t effect the service.

We were not notified of interior and exterior construction. One morning woke to Jack hammering. Long waits at elevators.
Lamp in room didn’t work
Tv remote didn’t work
Location was great. Hopefully construction will be complete soon.

IT was underconstruction, cold, you had to wait long for the breakfast because the waiter only seats 1 person at a time. there was a huge line. very expensive for the that you could only use tha half of the hotel and loud.

We had an amazing stay here! The staff was wonderful and the location was fantastic. Walking distance to everything! We would stay here again if we return to Edinburgh!

No water in the room; staff knew about the issue but were unwilling to do anything to help.

Bathroom was terrible. Was in middle of construction. Creaky floors. On the plus side the location is great

Great staff, rooms are nice. Excellent location. Building is confusing and make sure you get walking directions from Waverly station or you will be climbing many steps with luggage.

It was worse than disappointment. I felt I was insulted by both Expedia and Hilton. First, neither the Expedia nor Hilton informed us that the hotel was under construction. Due to the construction, elevator access to the our floor was not a direct one. We had to take one elevator from the reception area to floor 1. Then, we had to walk around the restaurant take the stair a few steps down then a few steps up on another stair and get to the second elevator taking us to our floor which was numbered as a negative. yes our floor was a negative number)??!! Inside the room was quiet with temporary cheap carpet but the bathroom did not have a ventilation. If one person used the bathroom for shower for example all the steam and .... would cover the main area of the room. This was also an issue of the construction which was hidden from us because there was a panel in the ceiling of the bath room which was covering the future a/c outlet or vent. This made the stay in the hotel very unpleasant. The bath room door from inside contained water damage. There were not many guests in the hotel. The floor numbers were from -4 to 5. I know there were rooms similar to ours on upper floors that certainly had direct elevator access and probably better bath room. Based on my previous experience with Hilton, in San Francisco (I am a Hilton Honors Member) when you make a reservation through a travel agency like Expedia you will be treated as a lesser guest.

loved our stay and every detail about the location of this hotel, will definitely come back again, great location and close walking distance to most attractions in the city

This hotel was amazing! Great location right off the royal mile, excellent staff, and very clean/comfortable rooms. We would definitely stay here again.

Walkable
1.5
Firstly, great location! Perfect for Fringe which is why we were there. So easy to walk to fringe venues from the hotel.
Maybe next year the hotel will be better? Right now it’s basically a construction zone. The whole building is covered in scaffolding and reception (or what’s left of reception) is boarded up.
Little deceitful of the hotel to not advise that they are undergoing renovations as I wouldn’t have stayed and definitely would have picked somewhere else.
Staff need a lesson in customer service when it comes to public areas and elevators though. When your hotel only has 2 working elevator, as the 3rd is boarded up, when a guest comes to the elevators, guests go first no matter what. This doesn’t seem to apply here. Guests can wait.
Room was comfortable, housekeeping a bit rubbish. They do the bare minimum to get by,
Need to have a process in place to check floors more often, especially if the rooms are way in the back like mine was. Don’t enjoy the stink of spaghetti bolognaise being left in the corridors from lunch until late when I get back.
It was ok. It was a bed in a great location. Would I stay here again? Probably not.

Very nice hotel and a great location.

Can’t beat the location, staff was lovely but rooms have some wear and tear on them (water stains on ceiling and damp smelling).

Great location. Near train station. Close to royal mile stores and restaurants. Good rooms. But was under construction when we visited.

Staff was helpful.

Great location. My husband, daughter and I really liked the spacious room. Our room had a king sized bed and a sofa bed and yet it didn’t feel cramped when the sofa was made into a bed. Very comfortable.

I was disappointed not to be informed the hotel was going through a major renovation.
The gorgeous entrance and stair case has gone.
The main entrance is very underwhelming and felt like arriving in the back entrance.
The customer stairwells are like a multi story car park. The whole hotel was very hot, the air con was not affective. Staff looked miserable and we waited 15 minutes in an ever growing queue just to be seated for breakfast.
I’m afraid I wouldn’t book here again. There are a number of alternative options in the area that supersede the Hilton Carlton .

Overal we were ok
There were no toiletries, no slippers or ropes in the room which was not expected for a Hilton hotel.
Also the room didn’t smell good it was more like smoking that none smoke room.
The staff were great.
Beatkfast was ok but not the best.

Room is always cleaned and restocked. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Place is very convenient from the station and it is at the centre so everything is accessible. Great overall stay!

Lovely hotel in excellent location. Our room was wonderful - extremely spacious, clean and well maintained. Highly recommend.
3.0
This would be a great hotel but the staff don't seem interested in the guests at all. With all the in and out we did on our visit only once were we greeted when entering. With the hotel under construction a helpful staff would have been more than welcome. For the same price stay elsewhere.
2.0
Construction around the hotel was challenging and dining not the best.
5.0
Great Hotel right in the middle of all the action that is the royal mile. Everything is within walking distance.
2.5
Hotel was close to everything. Very convenient. Recommend staying here again next time.
1.0
Property under construction and they have two elevators. But one is broken. So take the stairs or wait for the elevator that is working

What a great location, central to the area and close to the train station. The hotel staff has been very helpful and courteous. Great room too.

Scaffolding
Called for room service 3 times and no one came

Everything was efficient and the staff were helpful;. Only on the last night the room was not made up until 6-30 pm after four requests. Otherwise we had a most enjoyable stay.
