The good: Nice location, beautiful lobby and great pools, kids friendly, attentive and very nice staff.
Bad: property needs a renovation, stuff breaks in the rooms - screens, AC, toilets clog, tvs do not work. Buffet was very good, other restaurants at the property were bad. Nightly strong stench of sewage. One tower lost power for 2 days.

It started off fine enough. Check in was good and we enjoyed the buffet for dinner. The first full day was nice, the pool was nice and service was really good. There was, however; a very musty smell to the room. We ate at one of the specialty restaurants and the steak was in a very salty gravy. Italian night at the buffet could have been better too. I don't think there was tomato sauce on the spaghetti, it seemed to be grease from the meat. We lost power for 14 hours one on the 2nd full day. There was an uprising in the lobby. Many people had children and sitting in pitch darkness with no air conditioning wasn't optimal. I guess I just expected to be wowed and I wasn't. I probably will not return and that's too bad, because the location is in a wonderful spot right on the ocean. I even saw a whale from the snack restaurant on our 1st full day. There's an abundance of tomatoes, so I believe roasting some tomatoes and creating a sauce would be easy to do. I do want to say that the workers were very nice and were all working very hard. The hotel/resort could use some updates in the room. We did have mildew and mold in our bathroom and our maid contacted maintenance to spray bleach and kill it.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel. The experience was marred by discriminatory treatment, inconsistent enforcement of rules, and a general lack of respect.
Upon arrival, I was subjected to unnecessary scrutiny and suspicion. While taking a walk to the beach, I was escorted back to the reception desk by security, despite other individuals making the same journey without issue. This incident, along with subsequent experiences, led me to believe that my ethnicity played a role in the way I was treated.
Throughout my stay, I was repeatedly reprimanded for minor infractions, such as misplacing my key or wearing the wrong outfit to dinner. These rules were not applied consistently, as I witnessed staff making exceptions for other guests who appeared to be of a different ethnicity.
The discriminatory treatment extended to my family as well. My son was denied entry to the dining area due to his shorts appearing wet, while other children were not subjected to the same scrutiny. My wife was told I would not be allowed to join our party at dinner, even though she was on time and I was outside taking an important call due to a death in the family.
While I understand the need for rules and regulations, the way they were enforced was unfair, inconsistent, and discriminatory. I felt targeted and unwelcome throughout my stay.

My husband and I book this place for a little couple getaway. Place is in a beautiful spot. Amazing views. Some parts of resort do show some wear and tear but with the climate it’s expected. Pools were great. Pool side service was fantastic. Loved having an adults pool only. The pool chairs fill up fast so get one early but we never really had a hard time getting some but just not prime spots unless you get there early. Food was decent but for the amount of food they have to put out it was good. Wish there was more entertainment things to do. Dance club, piano bar or something. They did have nightly shows that we went to a couple and they were fun. Bed, sheets, pillows were awesome. I slept so good the whole 6 days. Shower towels were nice and big which is always a plus. Spa was beautiful. Beach area is a little small but pools were big enough. There are iguanas that chill around the pool which was neat to see. There is little restaurants along the beach and we had the best ceviche ever there. We would stay here again if the options is there.

Staff and service was amazing. Food at the specialty restaurants (Los Arcos and Capri) was mediocre, but the buffet had lots of good choices—though pretty much the same breakfast spread 3 days in a row. We didn’t realize we had booked a premium room and VERY glad the friends we were traveling with decided against upgrading to match. No discernible perks to having premium status besides room service being included. The premium lounge was not a “lunch restaurant” at all as advertised, and a very sterile and awkward environment that I would have been very bummed to have paid more for. But rooms were great and spacious, and our bed was sooooo comfortable! The biggest disappointment was how small the stretch of beach was, and it oddly had no tidal change whatsoever.

The staff were extremely helpful and attentive - much better than other experiences with different resorts.

We especially enjoyed the evening shows and the restaurants. We saw the Latin show and the Queen show and both were fabulous. Standouts for food were the steak at the Los Arcos restaurant on September 3 (a filet cooked to a perfect medium rare) and the salmon (also perfect medium rare) at the Don Quixote Restaurant on September 1.
The beach and the pool area are beautiful. We wish that the activities during the day at the main pool were quieter. Perhaps the speakers could be directed at a specific area rather than reverberating through the entire property (and beyond). The loud voices speaking into the microphones made it difficult to read or relax even away from the pool area.
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Service was excellent. We enjoyed our stay.

Overall very nice resort with friendly staff. Only complaint is the buffet restaurant could offer better options and be kept more tidy. Our rooms were very spacious and had excellent view. The resort is decent size and very walkable. We had no problems with pool and many lounge chairs were open. The elevators were a bit small and stuffy.

The staff went above and beyond, they are great. The beds were very uncomfortable, not to mention we got two double beds instead of the king we requested. The dress code to the restaurants limited our dining options, VIP status notwithstanding. Kudos to Mauricio, one of the managers, as he did everything he could to accommodate us in our situation. One last thing, I found it very strange that the pool bar was in the area that allows kids and not in the adults-only pool.

We have stayed at Barcelo properties in different cities (Ixtapa, San Salvador) but I must say the property in Puerto Vallarta is my favourite!!!
The property itself is amazing!
Cleanliness is great!
Food is world class!
The pools and beach area are phenomenal!
But what really set the property above all others was the staff!!!
Everyone was so caring and attentive with us, everyone had a smile as they went about their day (the front desk staff were probably the only ones not so friendly and a bit obnoxious). The La Fuente restaurant were the best, followed closely by those who serve around the pools, even the security people were super amazing!
All and all we will probably be going back and will let our friends and family know about the amazing experience we had!

The Property is beautiful and well maintained. the staff is amazing, the room are spacious and clean. The main downfall and PROBLEM IS THE FOOD! the food sucks so bad I couldn't believe it. their menu is the worst I have seen so far, it reminds of a ran down Reno casino buffet "lot of options but nothing is eatable".

Major issue was beg bugs. We booked 5 rooms and all the people get bit by bed bugs. Food is ok but manageable. Pool bar area is good with drinks service and music.

Rooms are very large and all public reatrooms are the cleanest of any resort that i have stayed. Food quality is middle of the road, but for the price it is what you should expect. Otherwise it is a great value for the price.

Nice pool. Rooms were cleaned everyday aside from one time when there was bugs? on our beds. Wouldn’t recommend staying here though. Food choices are limited & in our 7 nights stay, we are only given 3 tickets for restaurants. So you could only eat at any of the 4 restaurants there 3/7 nights of your visit. You would have to ask if you could eat at other restaurants however, why the limitations? Seems very odd since you paid for all inclusive. Pools were also only open til 8pm so you couldn’t swim till late, there wasn’t much events as well. My friends & I made the most of the visit; however, we have stayed at wayyy better resorts. Would not recommend this.

I like and enjoy the facilities, the pools, the beach. Where I will ask you to improve a little bit is in the food, food was okay, but I think it can be improved. All the staff was very nice, the rooms were nice as expected. Thank you for everything.

Property and staff were excellent. People were very attentive and resort was stunning.
My only gripe was the food. I didn’t enjoy much of any of it, everything else was stellar

I had a short stay. This property had everything you'd expect from an all inclusive. Service was always friendly. Food was good. It was a little harder/more expensive to get to from airport than I expected. Fantastic views. Pretty small/minor maintenance needs to be done to things.

I would like to see some out door nightly entertainment options not just in the theater as well as drink service on the beach not just the pool

I arrived at the resort at 10:30am and was told I had to pay $400mx per person if I wanted to access the facility before noon. Around 11:00am another couple was able to check in and received access to the facility. The service lacks and the facility is old and needs updates. At the moment of receiving the room we noticed the mini bar was not cleaned or stocked. I had to call reception to have it restocked as they never cleaned it. Our entry key was not working at the time and had to wait about an hour for it to be fixed.. The light of the bathroom would go off and one of the lamps in the room was never fixed. Overall the quality is below average in all aspects.
6.0
What I liked about the property was the pools and how close we were to the beach, also the rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The things that I did not like was the food, it was very americanized it had no flavor and I felt like it was catered for a white person’s palate. I did not feel like it was authentic mexican food the salsa tasted like tomato sauce and the meat was not flavored.
