Friendly welcome and used nearby hotel parking. Managed to get an off duty waiter to carry my bags as no lift. One of the worst ever views from bedroom window of fire escape and the bathroom window faced a concrete wall a couple of feet away, so check with hotel about the situation of room before booking. Unable to get breakfast tea despite asking the waitress - this further spoilt my stay

Wonderful stay. Off street parking. Garden room with own decking and access to garden which was great for my dog. Side entrance for ease of access to carpark. Staff were lovely and happy to help. Room was big, clean and well decorated.. The bath panel and shower screen was tired looking and brought down the tone of the bathroom which was actually beautifully done so that was a bit of a shame. Food was delicious. Slight niggle with breakfast. Food is cooked fresh so be prepared to wait. The coffee machine was a nightmare (I live for morning coffee) Half a teacup of cold cappucino on both days was frustrating. Staff agreed it was an old useless machine and said they'd been asking for a new one for years. Nevertheless I'd definitely go back.

Great stay. Arrived late afternoon so had a quick late lunch / early tea and food was lovely with Gluten-free options. Room was a great size, lovely bathroom and lovely view. Looking forward to visiting again.

Hotel was lovely, spacious, clean and a good price, but wouldn't stay there again as there was a constant noise from (I assume) the boiler/heating system which made sleep difficult 😡

Great hotel - basic but friendly with delicious food

Lovely friendly hotel . A little tired in places.
Excellent food.

this was a delightfully quaint Scottish hotel. Somewhat old fashioned with plenty of stairs. However room clean and tidy.
restaurant for evening meal and breakfast excellent……A good valued hotel in a quiet little village

Diner service wasnt good at all, food was ok but way overpriced. Room ok. Very run down

Nice property in good location next to historic train station.

Very dated accommodation.
Was informed at check-in to come down for dinner when ready as quite relaxed. Went down at 18.45 to be told very busy and had to book a table for 20.00.
Food was good but a bit pricey with 10% added for service.

Great location if you’re using the Speyside railway or playing golf at Boat of Garten (BoG). Room was suite like and excellent for two people to easily relax. Two radiators weren’t working and there was no hot water on our last day which was annoying. A 50 minute delay on our first night’s dinner meant we left and eat at Aviemore (not sure why the staff took a booking if they couldn’t cope with the numbers) and on day two we couldn’t get any food after 20:45 and the bar didn’t have any bar snacks (crisps or peanuts). That said it worked for our golf trip to BoG, Grantown on Spey, Abernethy Bridge and Carrbridge golf courses.

I recently stayed at The Boat Hotel and, unfortunately, my experience was far from ideal. Upon arrival, I discovered that the room I had booked was not available due to a mix-up in their system, and I was downgraded to a smaller room. To make matters worse, there was no hot water during my stay because the central boiler required maintenance, which was a significant inconvenience.
The breakfast service was also underwhelming and added to the overall dissatisfaction with my stay. However, there were a couple of positives—the hotel is located in a beautiful area, and the staff were friendly and helpful, doing their best to accommodate us under the circumstances.
I am still waiting for the promised refund for the room downgrade, but I have been assured this will be sorted soon. While the location and staff were redeeming factors, the overall experience did not meet expectations, and I cannot recommend this hotel based on my stay.

A little apprehensive after seeing some reviews, but we had a nice stay.

The most important person in a hotel is the front of house staff, they should greet the guest make eye contact and smile, none of these from the gent at reception. We had 3 rooms booked for 2 nights. We were given keys eventually, up to the first floor with my elderly mom, to find there was already a guest in the room we were allocated, back to reception and the same staff member said ok ! and went off to get another room for us but failed to return, I now had my 85yr old mom sitting on the steps of the stairs. Eventually I had to go back down and get the key of new room, no apology. The rooms were not the deluxe rooms we booked. There was no remote control for TV I mentioned it a few times but it never turn up. The bar ran out of draft beer and cream for coffees. The food in restaurant was adequate. Breakfast was ok. Apart from a very nice clued in Scottish lady red hair sorry I didn’t get her name at breakfast and the operations manager who did try his best the whole staff could do with some training. It’s a nice quaint hotel but badly need staff that are trained. The operations manager did give us our dinner for free which was appreciated but would have much prefereed a smile at reception and the correct rooms.

Quite a bit of dust on the carpet beside the bed, also limited choice of draught beer at the bar and drinks expensive. Staff friendly and helpful though.

We enjoyed everything about the Boat hotel. Really a nice surprise, with better than expected facilities. Friendly staff, gorgeous garden room with terrasse and a view. We had dinner and breakfast.. very nice all around. The clientele was also nice. Strongly recommend.

On the internet it looked like a very nice hotel. They advertise With special rooms for dog owners an treats for the dog, not hing of that!!!
Our room was on the 3rd floor without elevator, so we had to Carey everything up.
The Windows in our room was broken and did not open. The tap in the both room sink as wel as the shower was not working.
All together a bad experience, we will never ever go there again.

Upon arrival we were a bit surprised by how much of hotel it was rather than a quaint B&B. It looks like they've seen better days, and have been riding out the haydays with bare minimum maintenance. Our room was a bit stale, nothing extroadinary considering what we've paid at similarly priced properties in the UK. The view was of the outside bins, and prompted us to request another room as it was too disappointing. I will say the upside of this was the amazing staff who were really helpful in addressing our concerns and were able to accomodate a switch to another room with a better view in the same price tier. It was comfortable enough, my feedback would be on better coffee in the room rather than nescafe sachets and better water pressure! The restaurant was lovely and the breakfast was decent, same advice here with better coffee. The staff again were amazing, and friendly, and remembered us which made our trip feel more special. All in all, it was what you'd expect but the hotel is desperate from some love!

All ok but would have been better if the chap checking us in had managed to crack a smile! Was he having a bad day or does he just not like being in hospitality?
ALL the other staff were lovely especially Milli!

I stayed for two nights while on business. The hotel was recommended to me by a colleague living in the village. It was delightful, traditional and reminiscent of old-style architecture and service. Amazing community garden and steam railway station next door. We ate in the hotel and the food was delicious - compliments to the kitchen! It was no surprise to me that the restaurant was full on a Monday night. Early starts meant I left too early for breakfast service. I only wish I could have spent more time enjoying the hotel. Wholeheartedly I’d recommend The Boat.

Lovely location, hotel and dinner.
Pricey drinks.

Pretty good with a few wee quirks. Shower in our bathroom room 104 took up 50% of space and position of screen very easy to knock against. Breakfast arrangement could be improved as position of cups glasses etc meant a lot of waking back and forwards. Restaurant Food good though not excellent and could be a bit more varied. My panna cotta desert was amazing. Fish dishes reported as a bit bland. Wine very expensive at £28 for lowest priced bottle. All in all a lovely stay but 2 nights enough.

Cute hotel, very accessible to nearby hiking. Food was quite good.

Hotel is in a great location but could do with some updating as showing its age. Service varied between good and poor depending on which staff member served you. Food was average and a little on the pricey side. Couldn’t get parked in hotel car parks. Would stay again due to location.

We had a lovely, 3 night stay. The staff were lovely and the hotel is located in such a pretty village.

The hotel is situated next to the Strathspey railway in Boat of Garten. The presentation of the hotel is very good and gives an impression of a cosy country house. The Scottish heritage is present throughout the hotel and I particularly liked the tartan carpets. The room we stayed in was a Classic Room, number 115. Overall, I would NOT recommend this room for a long stay. We were only staying for one night. The room is a reasonable size and well furnished. It was clean. The bathroom was clean and had good local toiletries. The room was quiet on the night we stayed. As the hotel is rated 4*, I expect a safe and a mini fridge which the room does not have. That in itself is not why I do not recommend this room. Room 115 comes with a garden view, except that the garden view is obscured and totally ruined by the stairs and decking of other rooms. You are also looked down upon from guests on their decking, therefore the room lacks privacy. This is why I do not recommend room 115. In the morning, the breakfast room was light and airy. There was a good selection of fruit and cereals. There was a good coffee machine. There was a wide range of cooked breakfasts and we both enjoyed our selections. In summary, I would definitely stay at The Boat Hotel again, but I would totally refuse room 115, especially if I was staying more than one night. Maybe, I should really have refused it for one night we stayed! We live and learn.

Everybody was very friendly, breakfast was delicious and the restaurant had great food also. Shower could use a little more pressure

Very nice and quaint.

On arrival we had to ask for a change of room. Our "comfort double" for two adults was a bad hard against a wall and with very little headroom above the pillows. Thankfully they arranged a change. There was no lift and we were on the second floor. There was virtually no water pressure for the shower The evening mwal was ok but the free breafast was pretty basic. Somecarpets in the corridors were torn in places. A lot of investment is needed.

Was great. Breakfast was good, accomodations were comfortable, staff were very nice and helpful.
We had a dog with us and we didn't get the advertised pet bits but that was an issue with hotels.com booking lacking info on the £20 per night pet charge and the hotel being unaware of us coming with a pet.

Lovely hotel and nice room

Hotel room was lovely, clean, large comfortable bed, modern bathroom.
Breakfast was awful, not fresh at all. Staff were not very friendly either.

The Hotel is in a beautiful location and overall we had a pleasant stay. The food at Dinner and Breakfast was delicious and the service was adequate enough.
We did have some problems with our room, e.g. the TV had no reception/channels, the shower pressure was just a trickle and the shower head drooped and wouldn't stay upright. Also the sink wouldn't drain properly. So, maintenance issues more than anything else.
Otherwise, the Hotel is a good recommendation and we would stay again if in the area. We raised our concerns regards our room with the Hotel management and they were apologetic and kindly offered us a discount against our food bill which was welcome.
All in all, recommended.
