Not happy with the overall stay. A lot of things where not working; phone, steamer, door almost not opening, curtains broken…
Also the hotel was renovating so the bar was closed half of the stay, and we never received our complimentary drinks… on the most expensive night we couldn’t even eat in the restaurant due to all the noise from the renovations…

They charge an exorbitant resort fee and calling this a “resort” is a huge stretch of the imagination. This is basically a Motel 6 on South Beach.

This hotel had potential, but man did it fall short. The rooms are very nice and spacious and the bar area is super nice. I particularly enjoyed the mojito demo and a pleasant conversation with the barman. The location is also excellent. The 3rd floor is under renovation. The rooms tend to be noisy, from construction, machinery, and music and conversations from the bar, especially if you are above the bar or on the corridor open to the bar area.
However, by far my biggest issue with this hotel is the misleading and frankly dishonest advertising of the "free day pass" use of the local Equinox. This is nothing short of a timeshare-level scam.
Firstly, I received only one day pass for my 3-night stay, therefore guaranteeing at most a single day of workout. Secondly, when I arrived at the location for my workout, the experience was anything but pleasant. After going through the lengthy check in process, the staff told me, "Ok, enjoy your workout."
Then, as I'm walking to the workout area, I hear: "Oh, actually, I forgot. You have to have a meeting with a membership coordinator before you can work out. Is that okay with you?"
"It doesn't sound like I have a choice."
"It can be as long as you like. 5 seconds or 30 minutes."
So I meet the coordinator, shake his hand, say "thank you" and go to my workout. That's what they told me.
He then follows me through the gym and becomes confrontational. "Actually this is a thing we're doing with the hotel and you have to meet with me."

Our flight into Miami was delayed and the hotel was very accommodating!

Repeat customer here but this time was less appreciated. A request for another room because of overly noises was somewhat dismissed.
The hotels.com status serves no purpose at this hotel.
A request for a late checkout was granted with lots of commentary. I was Granted one more hour. I ended up leaving before checkout time as i did not feel the goodwill but the commentary.

Very cool location. Staff is among the best hotel staff I’ve ever seen. Will at the front desk was great. We had an issue with the AC in our room. He moved us to a suit and gave us complimentary drinks. He don’t make excuses and simply apologized and explained the age of the building and that at time ACs can be an issue. He went out of the way to assure a good stay. Will, great job!!!
Keep in mind, this is an 80 year old building. Not a Hilton from 2018. The setting, the staff, the location and the history, made this one of the most unique hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. I will definitely be back!!!

The room was incredible. I was nervous about bunk beds for my adult friends, but they were full size and had privacy curtains. The beach is only a 5 minute walk from the property. Navi at the front desk was WONDERFUL! She was super informative and made us feel like VIPs. Highly recommend this historic hotel!

Very unique property in the heart of South Beach. Parking is not inexpensive though. Beyond that a very nice unique hotel.

It was a nice stay and the bar tenders were great. The hotel and rooms were a cute boutique style. However, our ac went out at about 3:30 am one night. In Miami in the summer time this is absolutely miserable. The toilet kept running every night and we kept having to fix it. Other than that, the location and stay was good.

William at the front desk is outstanding . So friendly and informative . Hotel facilities and location are great and a small pool onsite . Bathrooms are nice in rooms only downside is shower pressure but not honestly an issue.
Welcome drink and bike usage free for two hours a day is a nice touch. Staff are very friendly and we were very comfortable here for our 1 night stay pre cruise .

I took my kids to Miami for Mother’s Day weekend. Originally booked a 2 bedroom somewhere else to accommodate the 4 of us and ended being a disaster upon arriving that night. The next morning we hopped on hotels.com and did a last minute booking of the Balfour Hotel, what a breath of fresh air when we arrived to check in!!!
Such a cute little hotel! Staff was friendly, room was nicely equipped and designed. Hotel was within a couple blocks walk from the beach and they provided beach towels and chairs/umbrella for their guests. The restaurant in the lobby was a great little convenience to have as well with great food!
Balfour gave us the opportunity to enjoy the rest of our trip and leave with good memories, Will be sure to stay there again next time

The room we were offered on the 2nd floor had no privacy from the Main Street with no net curtains. As no other room was available, we cancelled our stay and found suitable alternate accommodation

I stayed at this same hotel 5 years ago and it has definitely changed ALOT. We were able to check in 30 or so min early which was nice- asked for 2 beds, was advised it would be an additional $29 per night, we declined. No welcome drink provided- I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago, and it has definitely changed. once we got into our room, the AC was not working- it was extremely muggy. Then had to wait for a technician, then was told it would take time and was given a different room. The 2nd room had ac, BUT the refrigerator wasn’t working. They had to send the same person up, and then replaced the AC. there was a stain on my pillow, the room didn’t have the peep hole/door viewer but other rooms did- felt kind of unsafe incase someone came to the door, we couldnt know/see who it is. The beach towels were extremely worn out and gross. The hotel was not what it used to be when I stayed here 5 years ago. The only 2 positive things I could say was that the staff was very accommodating and extremely nice & the closeness to the beach. Definitely would not stay here again & would not recommend. Having to deal with the room change and problem after problem, next time I’d pay more to not have to deal with this on my vacation.

Lovely staff and amazing cleaning service. However the corridors were quite old and needed refurbishing. Also window in the room wouldn't open.

This is my second day at the Lord Balfour before they added the new section. It was impeccably clean and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
Experience the ultimate in luxury at this remarkable boutique hotel, boasting breathtaking rooftop views, an unwavering commitment to cleanliness, and a passion for culinary excellence. The recent addition of a pool area provides guests with unmatched options for relaxation, further enhancing the already exceptional guest experience. Having experienced the hotel's exceptional service once before, I eagerly anticipate my third visit, where I can indulge in all the new amenities and luxuries, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

A very nice hotel on the quiet side of the beach. My only complaints is that everything is small. We had two queens which were fine, but the room was small enough that it required standing aside, so someone could walk by. The pool was laughably small. Finally, even though we were obviously a family of four the hotel only reserved one umbrella and two chairs on the beach for us, as well as giving two towels by default. We would get four towels uopn asking, but you would think that when you see four people standing there, don't give them only two towels.

The staff was exceptional! They really made our stay a memorable one and much more valuable than the price we paid overall!
The food was excellent, drinks were delicious and even the complimentary drink and bottle of wine and additional perks like 2 hour free bike rental, beach chairs and umbrellas, filtered water, coffee in our room…the location!
Perfect hotel stay that I would highly recommend!
Thank you to all the wonderful staff that made our stay so special and memorable.

Four amazing days at the Balfour...Just across the street from the Beach, with great Beach Service, Full Restaurant and Bar, Roofdeck and heated Plunge Pool and sundeck, Amazing staff...like William and Navi to name a couple, Daily Housekeeping and a beautiful and relaxing modern room our stay at the Balfour was perfect. William even upgraded us upon arrival because of my Hotels.com status. There are bikes, welcome drinks and an overall peaceful and upbeat vibe that matches the SoFi neighborhood just a block away from the hustle and bustle of the Deco Strip. I am already planning another week back at the Balfour in the Fall. This stay was perfect...oh, and they are Pet Friendly! Thank you Balfour Staff

Overall the hotel was good, great location - free bike rental really useful and loungers on the beach really nice. The room/bathroom a bit small but ok for a short stay.
6.0
Great location right next to the beach. Staff was pretty friendly and helpful. The beach chair program was also really nice. Biggest issue was how dark my room was during the day and at night. Also surprised there was no gym given there’s a resort fee. Other more minor issues were that bike borrowing had a two hour limit and my tv wasn’t working.

We were very disappointed in this hotel. We were checking in ahead of a cruise vacation and our cabin bathroom was bigger than the bathroom in the hotel room. The bathroom also had very old toilet fixtures, the phone didn’t work and the hotel room did not have a security safe. When we asked for a security safe, they brought one up which was not bolted down - so what is the point?
Our friends who stayed on the 3rd floor were impacted by the noise during the construction and when they asked to be moved, hotel management did not address their concern. It was only when they found cockroaches in their room that hotel management moved them to another room. Overall it was a very bad experience.

Convenient location. Staff is very friendly. We really enjoy while staying at Balfour Hotel

The entire hotel smells like mildew, which they cover up with horrible air fresheners. Room looked like it was cute 15 years ago. They also didn’t mention it’s currently under construction and that we’d get woken up every morning at 7:45. At least they refunded us two nights because we left early.

Clean hotel and awesome location.
