Stayed in a cottage. Amazing views. The hotel was totally awesome! By far best place to stay in Yosemite park.
4.3
It was overpriced for the real value. Overpriced evening dinner was out of key things until we left. Cocktail in the bar was tiny at best. Valet was understaffed so it was slow and 30$ for outside parking with no loading and unloading is ridiculous.
4.3
A bit tired appearance in hallway and rooms, but service was great, staff was friendly, rooms were clean, and, of course, the setting was beautiful.
4.3
It's nice to stay within a national park and a bonus when you have a fantastic view of Half Dome from your room.
4.3
This is a bucket list property! The views are amazing. It is rich in history and the connivence of the location is an added plus. We may make this an annual trip!
4.3
The room was unacceptable. The toilet was so low that it was about 4 inches lower than my knees. It was built for a 6 year old. The couch was so soft that if you sat down, you could not get back up. The bed was on a large wooden box bringing the mattress up so high that we could not get into the bed. They offered a stepping stool to get into bed, but it took 2 hours to get it as they could not find another one as all the other rooms were using all they had. We have traveled to all 50 states and 5 continents and this was the worst room we have ever seen!! It was clean and had beautiful views, but it was not liveable.

Pool closed. Staff were incredible!
4.3
Fantastic. Especially for any lover of nature and the movie The Shining
4.3
It is the only hotel in the area with decent rooms and bathrooms. The staff is lukewarm. Some are very nice. Some are just there to do the job as well as they possibly can. The parking is limited and it is only Valet parking adding a $30.00 per day to the already very high charge.
The restaurant only has a buffet breakfast for $32.00. If you are vegetarian you pay for all the fish and meat you don't eat anyway. Dinner also buffet only $62.00 same deal.
4.3
Lovely winter visit to the Park. Staff did seem a little inaccurate on what was open at other facilities. New coffee machine may want to consider tea bags for tea drinkers even if have to be brought in.
4.3
The hotel is beautiful, but we could not enjoy the amenities. The lobby was too cold to sit in and there were about 12 children, screaming and yelling when we were there. Instead of staying in the room of their private party, they emerged into the lobby to chase each other, and scream, which made it very unpleasant. The pool was also unavailable, because it’s under renovation. We could not get into the dining room for dinner, even though we tried to book ahead of time. The bar was closing by the time we checked in and we’re ready to go.
The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable, but not worth $700 a night which it costs with fees, taxes and the mandatory valet parking.
The dining room is stunning, but very difficult to get into. We enjoyed our $85 breakfast for 2 one morning, but the price kept us from returning. The view from my room was so lousy which made me wonder why this room was so expensive.
In general, the staff was accommodating. We found, however, that we were so busy outside in the park that it was not worth it to spend that type of money only to come back and crash in the room. Since we could not get a dinner reservation, the swimming pool was closed, and the lobby too cold to sit in, we felt that it was difficult to take advantage of any amenities.
I would suggest going there for a meal and walking around the grounds, but if you’re going to spend a lot of time in the park, it’s not worth the extra cost to stay here.

Great Dinning room staff and service. Housekeeping and room service great
4.3
It’s a nice place with poor management on the properity, services and dinning.
4.3
Historical hotel was comfortable and clean, but very warn down common areas. Food was a big let down - especially for the cost. A small number of staff wear miserable faces and attitudes. We left feeling bummed out.
4.3
Of course this hotel is iconic and should be amazing. But it's also almost 100 years old! The views are incredible and the history in Yosemite Valley awe inspiring. But the facility itself is very tired and even run down - badly in need of refurbishment. For example, the wallpaper in our room was torn, the tile grout in the bathroom was dingy and discolored, the grout had mildew, and the pain on the doors was dirty. Please upgrade this beautiful property.
But our greatest disappointment was with the service. We heard multiple times that they were understaffed (as if that is supposed to make it okay to pay for 4-star service and receive 1/2-star service at best). Valet was required at $30/day, yet on entering one day there were 15 cars in line and only 2 valets working. When we were told we could pull to the front of the line we did so and to be helpful we parked our car and gave the keys to the valet who proceeded to exhort us for doing so. We were paying $30 to do their job! In the sweet shop while we waited in line, the checker proceeded to overlook us and help an employee instead. At 11pm we were awakened by an employee walkie-talkie in the hallway outside our room. As we left carrying multiple pieces of luggage through the lobby, two employees stood by and didn't even help by holding open the doors.
All of this to say, the employees are not just "understaffed" but badly in need of some training in 4-star service. For the prices the hotel charges, customers deserve bett

The Ahwahnee must have been quite a jewel in its prime. Unfortunately it is in need of an update. Dated room, uncomfortable bed, no water in room. There is only one elevator which results in long wait times. Furniture in common areas is soiled and dining options are limited, with food mediocre. The saving grace is its location.
4.3
Everything is expensive at this hotel, so you just have to accept that. The mandatory valet parking could be cheaper and still be effective. The hotel is beautiful and clean with lots of neat spaces to relax and enjoy the scenery and historic surroundings. The food was excellent. Our room wasn’t ready at check in, and we had to wait an additional 30 minutes. The staff could have offered us a complimentary drink, instead he was terribly rude. Overall we enjoyed our once in a lifetime stay here, but it does feel like the concessionaire takes financial advantage of people wanting to experience this piece of history.
4.3
For the price…I would have thought it would be more clean. It’s an old location but the heater in the cottages was inadequate. Additionally we saw the biggest rat near their restaurant that charges $60 a person. Although very nice appearing from the outside, the inside doesn’t meet the price. Given the location maybe it why people are willing to pay but I won’t again. Staff were outstanding though. No knocks there but the facilities aren’t worth north of $300 dlls.

Overall wonderful experience!

The Ahwanhee hotel was a magical place to retreat for a winter weekend. The grand lounge area, with it's massive fireplaces, had many semi-private seating areas to read or gaze at Half Dome or Yosemite Falls. The inviting onsite bar opened promptly at 7am, providing complimentary morning coffee and tea, with the option to upgrade to espresso drinks and morning snacks (for a fee). Wine and other alcoholic beverages, as well as food, could be purchased and consumed in the bar or in the beautiful large lounge. The Ahwahnee Dining room - although pricey - reminded us of the Hogwart's dining hall, which was of course very enchanting, and we all thought the dinner food was excellent. Be sure to make dining reservations for any meals in the large dining room.
We stayed in a Classic room, which I believe was "redone", and was luxurious in my opinion. There was a small fridge (bigger than a mini), as well as a very small seating area with a nespresso style coffee/hot water maker. There are no microwaves. Customer service was excellent. The wifi times users out after four hours, but can be immediately renewed. It was a bit spotty at times, but nothing we couldn't easily handle. We celebrated my 50th birthday here on a *non-holiday* January weekend, which turned out to be a great time to go as crowds were non-existent. I am grateful for my experience in such a wonderful place. Thank you, Awhanhee!

The location can't be equaled. The views are amazing. They are currently diminished by the various trailers and facilities outside that are apparently temporary, but definitely detract. The dining room still isn't up to full service, (buffet only) and the view is now of the outdoor kitchen/trailer. The spaces reflect the fact that the hotel is nearly 100 years old. To us that is part of its charm. (Only one guest elevator for the whole building.) Our first morning - without warning - the breakfast service in the bar was closed. The only option was the $32 buffet breakfast in the dining room. I didn't want to pay $32 for a bowl of oatmeal, so we had to go to the village for breakfast. The staff was just OK. That's where it really fell down. We had to ask for a room change because our first room was so noisy (right across from the elevator, with very noisy people above.). They were just accommodating, certainly not apologetic, and it was hours before we could go to our new room. At one point the elevator quit operating for at least 15 minutes, and when we brought it to their attention they didn't seem too concerned. If each of these inconveniences had been met with genuine concern and an effort to make it better we would have left with a higher opinion.

Liked: history, facilities, Peet's coffee!
Disliked: dining buffet prices are way too high and quality food choice low. lack of a good fire in all fireplaces which limited seating choices. fireplace fires were minimally crackling, lacked ambiance and warmth. Carpark charge of $30/night.
General: most employees very good, a few not enthused to have a job of servicing public.
4.3
Didn't like all the construction, but I understand it is what it is.

We loved the hotel and most of the staff. Our only complaint was with the dining room and the staff taking reservations and checking you in. They were rude and really did not care if you ate there or not so we chose not to. We ended up in the bar with a delightful waitress Debby and decent food.
4.3
The rooms( king size ) are fine, nothing special but comfortable. A down comforter in December would be perfect.
The bathrooms are subpar with poor plaster in ceilings and poorly hung wallpaper.
This is an almost 100 year old hotel but small room improvements would help.
With that said, the views are spectacular, most of the staff are happy and helpful.
4.3
My stay was great but I wish there was a microwave in the room already as I was traveling with my daughter. We had to ask for one separately. The availability of a hotel gym would’ve been nice as well.
4.3
The Ahwahnee was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. I loved my stay at the hotel which is located inside the beautiful Yosemite National Park. Customer service was exceptional. Regan at the front desk was very helpful with our room choice. I loved staying here!
4.3
Fantastic location. Beautiful old hotel. Sits right at base of half dome. You can sit outside at outdoor tables and have best view of half dome in all of Yosemite valley. Restaurant is best one in the park but it it is below average on food quality and high on cost $59 per person for a buffet. No sit down service in main dining. And menu in bar is just weird. Best place to stay. This hotel could be awesome, but it isn't. Location 10 out of 10. Service 2 out of 10. Dining 2 out of 10.

What an amazing hotel to stay in!
The setting is spectacular in the centre of Yosemite and close to many trails leading to spectacular scenery. The hotel is beautiful and unique with plenty or areas to relax in, and the bedroom was spacious with lovely decor.
Some areas were being renovated when we visited resulting in some restricted services but this did not impact our stay which was a wonderful and memorable visit.
4.3
Great view. Very nice breakfast buffet. Nice staff.
4.3
Our 20th anniversary dinner at the Ahwahner was awful. Fat on lamb chops has congealed by the time it was served. Carrot purée was dry. Ordered steak “blue”, and it was prepared rare/medium rare. Server was kind enough to bring an extra serving of carrot purée and waive the corkage.
4.3
It is a lovely hotel with beautiful views, and the dining room is beautiful. However the room was really warm and the thermostat didn’t seem to work. It made for an uncomfortable night.
4.3
No housekeeping and food was very good but no table service (Covid rules) but rules were dated.
4.3
Too many covid restrictions.

Coolest place, even during California's Covidmania, the staff was able to deliver a great meal. This place is so cool, its historic rooms take you back to a simpler time. Great hikes and fabulous views.

Beautiful location and building! The scenery is outstanding! Great place to relax and enjoy nature at its best!

Check in is to late, checkout is to early. Front desk staff not the friendliest as you would expect from a hotel that charges $485.00 a night. The room condition would be great if not for the constant loud noise that come from the ventilation making it very hard to sleep. Will never spend another night at the Awanee
