This is a charming bed and breakfast. Anmenities are high end, so is the service. We stayed in a room circa 1752. The bedding however was more recent and very luxurious.
The grounds are impeccable, with flowers and trimmed hedges everywhere. There are fields and even a little nature trail in the woods on the property.
Its ideally located in Virginia wine country and in proximity to the homes of three past presidents, all of which you can visit.
If you feel like shopping or eating out, Charlottesville is nearby.

The owners were awesome. Stayed in a small cottage and it was so cute. Sat outside by firepit at night enjoyed talking to another guests staring up at the stars. Excellent stay.

One of the most wonderful vacation! The Innkeepers (Jim & T) made the experience personal in all aspects. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms comfortable and lovingly appointed. The breakfasts are made with love (delicious & presentation wonderful). We would highly recommend the Inn Keepers diner. We plan to return for another stay. Phil & Diane Yelvington

We liked the property for its location - in the middle of the countryside. It was quiet and resourceful, not noisy.

This is a really beautiful property in a stunning and quiet location. Perfect for touring the gorgeous areas around Charlottesville. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Accommodation in our cabin (Summer Kitchen) was ‘rustic chic’. Bed was comfortable and furnishings were nice. Bathroom a bit dated. We did have some problem with the off putting fireplace odor. Not unusual to have an odor from a real wood burning fireplace, but this was especially strong and only remedied by building a fire. Breakfasts were well presented and nicely prepared, but not always to our tastes (scrambled eggs with a lot of tarragon, cheesy potatoes with some sweet component). Would recommend to anyone looking for a stay at a beautiful and historical rural retreat, but maybe not for someone seeking 5* luxury.

Unique place to stay, loved the history, the buildings, the friendliness of the innkeeper and his family! Would love to come back when the restaurant is open. Only complaint was the pillows, all flat, not comfortable.

The Inn and surrounding buildings are well preserved and historical reminders of the early years of this country's history and settlement.
It is very inviting and tranquil and transports you back to a different time.

More than the stay I would call it an experience. Stunning views backed with cozy 18th century cabins. Acres of recreational area and a fantastic host. We loved our stay there and will surely come back. Especially for the Uber sweet Rocky(the Labrador)

We like Prospect Hill, but we do not like EXPEDIA. You were supposed to reserve two nights for us, but when we got there we had only one night reserved so we had to cut our Valentine excursion short and come home. Now whose fault is this? We made our reservation via EXPEDIA on line.

What a welcome to Virginia! Thank you for a very relaxing stay. We enjoyed our evening walk around the property past the alpacas and into the woods. We then sat for a while in the gazebo before our delicious dinner followed by a complimentary cognac which we took to our room. We loved spending the remainder of the evening in our room having a fireside chat.

Upon arriving at the propertys gates, I knew we were in for a special stay. The grounds are stunning in every way; immaculately maintained, expansive, and full of charm. A friendly black Labrador came out to welcome us and lead the way to the guest houses entry, where we were greeted by the proprietor. We were given a tour of the house and a brief history of the estate, which dates to the 1730s, and asked about our breakfast preferences. After being shown to our rooms, we headed straight for the pool to relax after spending the afternoon touring Monticello. After looking up the property on Instagram, we realized there were Alpacas on the grounds, so we made sure to stop in and say hello to them from the fence. We did not have dinner at the property, but certainly will next visit as the food looked and smelled outstanding. Our room was very comfortable and charming, with nice views of the grounds. The bathroom was nicely appointed, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with excellent service. The only downside of our time at Prospect Hill was that we didnt get to spend another night (or two)!

Comfortable and accommodating. Doc was kind enough to give us a little history on the property even after our late arrival

Wonderful service and friendly discussions made the stay especially memorable. If anyone plans to stay, make certain to take part in the exquisite dinner selection. My wife and I chose the three course option (appetizer, entree and dessert). The chef is a creative artist. The service was first rate. Bring a camera. The courses were excellent. Magnificent!
And the owner “Doc” makes certain you are welcome and feel at home. He made every effort to make our stay perfect...and it was.

Boys Cabin is a wonderful back in time experience with modern amenities. The best part of the trip, though, was the unforgettable dinner we had. If you go to Prospect Hill, don't leave without testing the spectacular menu.

It is a lovely place with lovely surroundings. It's about 1/2 hour from Charlottesville. The breakfast was very good. It is somewhat pricy.

What a wonderful place! The owner was very gracious, shared some history of the plantation and took exceptional care of us. The grounds are beautiful. We wandered around the property taking in the views and settled in the gazebo for a bottle of wine while watching the sun set. Although historical, we were encouraged to touch items and books. We did not have dinner there but understand we missed quite a treat. Breakfast was served in the dining room or we opted to have it in our room. It was presented just perfectly! Hot things were hot, cold things were cold and no detail was overlooked. I felt like a princess there.

We were excited about our visit and were not disappointed. The staff were very helpful, polite and hospitable. It was a wonderful experience and the food was superb. A truly gormet dining experience. Could not have improved on the meals.
What a wonderful place to relax and soak up southern charm and history. We will definitely be returning next year! Now if we could just get the sun to cooperate!

The stay was perfect! Nearly 300 years of Virginia history from the main plantation house to the various cottages. We stayed in the Overseer's cottage and could not be happier with our choice. It was very romantic, secluded and peaceful. We were initially greeted by 'Doc' the owner and he took special care to ensure we had everything we wanted. It was very interesting to hear the history of Prospect Hill and of all the hard work which has been put into the place. Doc and his family are quite proud of the place and you can sense the joy they have in sharing the place with others. Our room was equipped with a wood fireplace, Keurig coffeemaker, complimentary wine, fresh well water and a huge king size four poster bed that you just sunk in to! The staff are exceptional especially the on site Chef. The food was fantastic! I have stayed at many B&B's and have purposely started to steer myself away from the traditional 4 room ranch style houses that remind you of staying at a friend's house. If you wish to stay at a place that is unique, has history and charm, then this is the place for you! We are definitely returning again as I'm curious as to what Prospect hill looks like in the winter snow.
