This is the worst hotel/resort I’ve ever stayed in! Upon arrival the door didn’t close properly, phone didn’t work, the toilet wouldn’t flush, there were used bottles of shampoo and conditioner left, an empty box of Kleenex (it was like the room was half cleaned), the room smelled like mildew, the bathtub wasn’t cleaned. All of this the first night and it was a weekend stay. I informed front desk of issues the first night and the next morning. We left and came back that afternoon and nothing was fixed! I asked to speak to a manager and was told he/she would call back no one ever did! I don’t recommend anyone staying here! This ruined my Myrtle Beach experience and I never want to stay here again!

This was by far the worst place I ever stepped for it. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. And to top it off Hotels. Com said they couldn’t do anything about it. This is my second room, the first room I couldn’t stay 10 minutes in it smelt so bad.

I have never stayed at a property so dirty, walk in and the smell of the laundry room the mildew was terrible, the carpets on the floors are ripped in horrible condition. We got to our room 341 and the door would't shut, the sheets on the bed were for the wrong size bed. Beds were very uncomfortable. if we didn't drive so far from Florida and have my small dog with me I would of checked out. They changed our room to 441, no better the porch/deck was disgusting the sliders had things growing in them the deck was not even usable. The bathroom fan had so much dirt in the fan, mildew on the shower curtain and around the faucet. The carpet was full of sand. It was disgusting. I want a refund. I found out this place is closing they should of told us that i would of found another place. So disgusting. I brought this to the attention of a person at the desk which she said she could do nothing except refund our fees which has not been done.

Disgusting, rude and very unprofessional hotel!
Staff are highly unprofessional and high! They do not care at all complaints and do not care to find ways to solve problems they simply don’t care for the visitors. Place is filthy smells like mold. Things are broken inside. Hotel is filthy I will file a dispute with my bank to have my money back and will reach out to south Caroline department of health or any agenecy who are responsible for shutting hotels down! Is a crime to be making money from people pacing them at a health risked environment with children.
Because they are fully booked? As per the staff they think they are doing good. Pictures online are not real! They made us exposed our little toddlers to rodents and mold and filth. Risking their health they do not care what so ever to accommodate by removing us from the room they put us and act surprise to things while they are clearly aware of everything going on. This place needs to be shutdown immediately. Is filthy and disgusting and ghetto staff.
Ice machine is filthy guy told us to go to their 3rd building to get ice which is a 15 minute drive. Oven broken and everything broken and filthy.

There were 30 people ahead of us at check in with only 1 person working the front desk. We spent an hour in line to get the door keys. The room was dirty, old, and had a popcorn ceiling. Poor internet selection and cable TV was slow

This was the worst kept hotel have ever stayed at. We stayed in the north towel .. the room are outdated .. stove was nasty, carpet was filthy and smelled. The door knob was broke and kept falling off.. we had to buy toilet tissue for the room. The entrance door to the building never locked so anyone could enter .. the ice machine was broken and elevated on blocks . The whole motel smelled like mildew and mold. The microwave was rusted and peeling in the inside( top).. I didn’t ask if every room was the same and was told yes by the man at the front desk.. I could write a book about this place.. management and the owners should be ashamed to have a motel like this. It need to be report and condemned !! The only positive was it didn’t have bedbugs .. i would rather sleep in my car or camp on the beach before staying here again.. DONT STAY HERE!!

I do believe that the decor was 'old' rather than dirty. I wish they had had a jacuzzi. Proximity to beach and ease to getting there were excellent. Parking can be a little tricky. Dogs are permitted, which was a big deal to me. Overall, had a good experience

Was the absolute worst hotel experience I’ve ever had! From the rudeness of the staff to the discrimination …will NeverEver stay there again nor will we use Hotels.com or Expedia ever again bc they do not stand up for the customer…. I spent several Thousand more to book another room at another hotel for the last 3 days

So when I book this property it was showing that the rooms were nice. When we got there the floor was dirty. The dresser looked like it had been in water. The bed was comfortable. The shower was nice but the room the carpet needs to be removed. We did find out that there was a second location that looked better and I'm believing that this is what they advertise on the website. The only thing we did like it was convenient to the beach and the staff was helpful in giving us directions on how to maneuver without using our vehicle. The parking was horrible. People were parking there because of the convenience to the beach and that made it hard for us to find a parking spot with us. Pain to be on site. The parking was free but still we did not have access to it. They did have parking across the street and another walkable parking garage, but that was inconvenient for us overall. I would give them a two. They did not have a restaurant like they stated they did not have breakfast like they stated and it just wreaked the weed and it was just not clean to what it could be.

Worse place I’ve ever stayed. Should be taken off the Hotels.com app. Checked out the day after we arrived…

I had an ocean front room that smelled like a pet bathroom when I first walked in. The lamp shades and curtains had mold on them. The hotel did replace the lamp shade but did nothing for the smell or curtains The only way to get rid of the smell was to leave the sliding door open. The hotel was booked up so they couldn’t give me another room. Worst experience ever

The carpet is dirty. The room and balcony door are needed to be fixed. They're hard to open and close. The hotel's location is good. It's close to go restaurants, shops, and activities.

Terrible! The staff were nice and helpful when asked. The front desk lady should be the one sweeping the floors, her attitude is terrible, she has a smart mouth, and absolutely zero customer service skills. The only elevator they have is broken and is closed on my 75 yr old Mother's arm, causing injury! My diabetic dog was stuck in the room because they deactivated my key card and the front desk responded with, "You put your dog over human beings"?!! When he's diabetic, needs to eat and you've locked me out of the room I paid for, absolutely he comes before you checking in another family! They need to replace the front desk lady, clean the hotel, fix the elevator and loose railings on the deck, then I may consider staying if they offered it for free because no way in heck would I ever pay money to stay here. Plus side- great view, beach access, and most of the staff were friendly. The lady sweeping the floor was so much more helpful and polite than the front desk lady.

The hotel is one of the older ones in the area and it definitely showed in the room. The bed skirt looked like it’s been there since it was originally built, the dresser and night stand had lots of wear on it, the balcony patio had mold from the ac dripping all the time, the small table in the room was cracking on the edges. When they “cleaned” they didn’t leave an extra roll of TP and we had to go over to the main building to get some more, it’s smelled of marijuana the whole time we were there (it was literally coming through the walls!). They did have a pool side bar that played music so they had dance parties, played musical chairs with the smaller kids and had a movie night on Saturday). I definitely won’t be booking again as I like the quieter hotels and don’t like to be in the bustle and bustle part. We were on a tight budget as it was my daughter and her 2 friends wanting to go for my daughter’s birthday.

This was by far the worst property we have ever stayed at, and that’s including very bad international travel.
Trust the reviews. DO NOT stay at this “resort.” The photos on Expedia are a lie. We rented two rooms for one night. As soon as we entered the first one, we wanted to leave, but other hotels were over $1,000 at that point and we couldn’t afford that.
The room my daughter and I stayed in stank of mildew and was barely “cleaned.” The carpet was wet and her socks were black in 10 minutes. We didn’t take our shoes off after that.
Other customers reported bed bugs so we slept on top of the sheets in our beach towels.
The room and furniture were very dated and the dresser was missing its handles.
I would say that the best part of that room was leaving it. The ac was a joke and loud. There was no hot water.
The view was good, but there was a loud DJ playing until 10 pm. Then I couldn’t sleep thinking that we shouldn’t be breathing in the mildew. During the night, it seemed that someone was driving on the beach regularly so lights kept coming into the room.
And the door locks were a joke. Not a comfortable and reassured evening.
When we got there, my husband waited in the car to park. There was a long line to check in and the lobby smelled like pee and cigarettes. The elevator smelled like weed. The staff were ok, but clearly over their jobs. Can’t blame them after that experience.
And my husband had roaches in his room.
Hands down WORST hotel ever. Believe it.

The hotel was great with some of the amenities. The show at night with music and karaoke was amazing. Checking in was the worst ever, she took my payment and only told me about the resort fees and gave me my key with the cards; but she didn’t explain anything or what could happen there like other hotels do. Besides that amazing and it’s close to everything. The staff besides checking in was so great and amazing too; always checking on you and making sure you are good too. Definitely would go back and wanna go back NOW!!!! Again the show on the weekends was amazing met some great ppl.

Air conditioner didn't work on check in on a room that was much smaller then pics and no view of the ocean, no table ,, no balcony! Finally moved me to the room I had rented on line,,, but seriously was out dated and the bathroom door had holes and rotted at bottom. Extra Charges of 180$ after checking out, that had never shown up on booking. Front desk was just rude. People fighting during the late night waking us all up. Worst resort ever, but definitely does not qualify as to be called a resort

My stay 07/19/2024 thru 07/21/2024 at Sandcastle Resort, 1802 N Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach deserves a scathing review.
I booked through Expedia for an Ocean Front-Two Queen Beds on 07/13/2024. On Tuesday, 07/16/2024, I received an email from Expedia with a message from Sandcastle offering an upgrade where I was promised a Partial Ocean view One Bedroom Suite with two Queen Beds for an additional $12; I called Sandcastle to confirm the offer and was told to contact Expedia. When I contacted Expedia, the representative called Sandcastle while I was on the line to confirm upgrade and the additional $12 charge; I offered to pay at that time and was instructed payment would be taken at the hotel when I checked in and the room would be available. Instead, when I checked in on Friday, 07/19/2024, Sandcastle indicated they could not assign Partial Ocean View One Bedroom because the hotel was fully booked and no suites were available.
The Ocean Front-Two Queen Beds I was assigned was awful and I was stuck with staying in these terrible accommodations for 2 nights where I paid $544.26. The room charge far exceeded what this hotel offers. Paying this amount for 2 nights I expected at least a 4 or 5 star accommodations in cleanliness and decor.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and if Expedia wants to maintain some kind of standard for travel agencies, they should drop this hotel from their recommended accommodations because customers would certainly be disappointed.

Older hotel, but oceanfront. Needs lots of updates, but you're at the beach; why are you in the room. Close to everything. Pool and Lazy river. Easy beach access.
Hotel did smell strong of Marijuana. Staff were pleasant. Smoke free hotel, but everyone smoked at the entrances.
We'd stay again.

The condition of the room my family and I stayed in was disgusting. I had the two queen bed partial ocean view suite. The two beds didn’t even fit the bed frame leaving metal ends exposed for all of us to bang our chins on. The couch was ripped up like someone took a razor blade to it. The walls had someone’s pimple patches stuck to it. The floor was not vacuumed, the bed had crumbs in the sheets, the bathroom had mold and a wot of someone’s hair in the cabinet. The hotel was not cheap and they charge resort fees. This is crazy considering the hotel is giving motel energy. The location being on the beach was the only thing my family and I enjoyed. Being able to bring our pet was a plus too. I asked the staff immediately upon arrival to give me a cleaner room as I was staying for a week and spent a lot of money for the week and the condition of my room was not only unacceptable but hazardous! They told me “these rooms are old.” OLD? Old I can handle. Dirty is unacceptable. They could not accommodate me with a different room as they were completely booked. I made the best of it. But, spend your money elsewhere. You’ll be happy you did.

Very old fashioned room . Don’t be fooled by the pictures

We've stayed at the Sandcastle previously and right after Covid it needed some renovation. We were happy to see the pool area had been renovated with all new beautiful furniture and the pool is well maintained. The housekeeping is on a different schedule so if you need towels refreshed or other items during your stay you call the front desk instead of them visiting your room every day just to make your bed and change your towels-this keeps your room rate lower than other hotels in the same area. The staff at the front desk were excellent and our room was very nice. This is one of the older hotels but it has a charm to it and we have stayed many times and have never experienced issues.

I will not book with this hotel ever again. List of things that went wrong:
1. I had to ask the front desk for cookware when I booked a suite. Only provide two pots, few plates, 2 cups, and dirty rusted silverware.
2. Inside was filthy dirty. Found cockroaches in few places.
3. Front desk rep was rude. Kept rolling her eyes everytime we asked for extra towels/toilet paper.
4. Entry door for our room got stuck a few times.
5. Ice machine was down in our building.
6. Pictures advertised when booking are not even close to reality.
7. Kitchen was small.
8. TV in the bedroom did not work and remote was broken with a missing battery.
2.0
Don’t rely on the pictures you see online. They must’ve been taken when the place was first built because now it is a dump. The exterior doors are broken, so there is no security. Carpets are dirty and torn, and the furniture in the room was broken. The only good thing about this place was it’s proximity to the beach. If you have low standards, then this is the place for you.

My stay was ok but not great. The hot tub and inside pool have been under construction for going on 2 years. At one point they had it listed in the lobby that it wasnt in service but this time when making my reservations and even when checking in no one told us that these 2 indoor services were still under construction and these are 2 things that me and my husband like to enjoy while staying at the sandcastle. This was very un-business like of the hotel not to tell their customers that these 2 things are STILL OUT OF ORDER after almost 2 years of being under construction.

The pool bar was good.

I cannot support this hotel, as the customer service is lacking, the room smells like mold, there are bugs and broken glass around the building, the Ice Maker is not working, and the washer and dryer are far away from the hotel. The room was disgusting during my three-day stay, as they never brought me any sheets, bed linens, or towels, nor did they pick up the trash or provide fresh towels. There were constant fights among guests, with police coming in and out. I am extremely disappointed with Expedia.

The entire place is a roach motel. They used pictures from the other Sandcastle South to lure people into this place. The parking garage even had roaches. I don’t recommend anyone stay here. The best part was the ocean view & pool area.

Carpet smelled terrible. Front desk service fluctuated. Ok at times. Terrible other times. Not organized. Did not show an A game.

This place is terrible! The property smelled like pee and weed. Everything was dirty and our door had even part of it removed from an animal. Will never stay here again.

The property needs a huge restoration. The photos on the website are from when the property was new. They only have 1 small pool, 1 small lazy river and minimal parking. We had to ask for towels, bedding for the Murphy bed and toilet paper. Most of the staff was less than friendly. On checkout day we finally saw housekeeping, who tried to come into our room an hour before checkout and then asked when we were leaving.

We liked the view of the beach

Would not recommend. The sheets were clean but was uncomfortable being in the room everything was chipped and the living room had a two seater couch that I didn’t want to sit on. The carpet looked dirty. Could only use half the balcony as the ac was leaking water all over it and the cement was eroded. Everyone was told to check in at 4 so over an hour wait. The staff tried hard, they were polite and did their best, no issue with them. The cost was ridiculous for such a lousy property. I have never written a bad review before as I make the best of a situation but I was so sorry I booked this for my family for the one night. We had a wonderful stay at Dayton house for the rest of the week
