Adorable hotel. Perfect location! Staff could not have been more kind and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Our stay couldn’t have been better

Centrally located and everything was easily walkable

Happily surprised that my complaints of how the check in was conducted was ça taken seriously and met with gratitude and seen as an opportunity to improve. This attitude and service is truly appreciated when you stay in hotels almost every week.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was wonderful, comfy bed, and an awesome bathroom with great shower and large claw-foot bathtub (if that's important to you) . We would stay there again.

Stayed twice - the first time it was great; the second, not as much. It's very dependent on the room you get, but overall very quaint and nice hotel with good breakfast.

Very good position and lovely to stay in the heart of Bryggen. Lunch not available but dinner options ok. However easy walking distance to many restaurants.
Room very good size and bathroom also really good. Breakfast selection could have been better. Tinned fruit to go with cereal rather than fresh

This is a quirky older building in the heart of Bryggen so don't expect perfection. The bathroom was new and modern and the bed was comfortable. All of the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. We were there during a sunny, warm week and so spirits were running high on the street and in the bars. The front desk staff helped with situations that were within their control. However, I believe that the red velvet armchair in our room should be retired. It has lost its charm! 😉

Amazing service in charming historic hotel. The room was large and comfortable with modern amenities.

Bellissima location

This hotel was located ion the perfect spot to explore Bergen! The hotel had character and the room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and the breakfast buffet was delicious and had a wide variety of options! It was easy to walk to restaurants, shopping, the funicular, and the light rail station was nearby for easy transportation to and from the airport. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone exploring Bergen!

The hotel is in a building that dates back centuries, and the tilted floors, ramps between structures, and overall quaintness give the hotel real charm. Way better than some "clean" 20th century box of a hotel!

Perfect location in an historical building(s) turned hôtel at the juncture between Bryggen and the harbour. Great for some indulgence (in our case after 20 days touring Southern Norway), with large bath and comfort fitted in the building. Top notch breakfast too, with high quality ingredients and produce—from the salmon to the fresh bread.

“A stay at the Hanseatic Hotel was a very special experience. Situated at Bryggen in Bergen, this beautiful hotel offers exquisite, stylish rooms in charming surroundings. With its historic architecture and unique character, it’s more than just a standard hotel.

Convenient location.

We found the hotel to be unsatisfactory in a few ways. Overall, it was quite dark throughout the interior; specifically in the guestroom, the halls and the dining room at breakfast. Unused hallways are full of what appears to be a mix of discarded materials, furniture not currently being used, and boxed items. We had a room with a double bed which was made up with what appeared to be two twin flat sheets on top of the mattress rather than a double/full sized fitted sheet. Overall, our stay was a disappointment, particularly considering what we paid to stay.

Lovely hotel with a great, cozy feel to the room. Full sized bathtub was a big plus. Wished we could have stayed longer!

I stayed here with my wife when we vacationed for our anniversary. Charming hotel in a historic part of Bergen. Centrally located and convenient to shops, dining, bars, fjord boat tour, hiking and other activities. Nicolas at the front desk was very friendly and super helpful when it came to answering all of our questions about the area. Would definitely stay here again.

Great customer service and really lovely and spacious room!

The breakfast buffet here was fabulous. I also enjoyed the large soaking tub in my room. The location was perfect. It was a bit noisy at night because there was a club across the street, but I had good earplugs. There were many tripping hazards in the hallways and in the room, so would not recommend for the elderly, but it is a historic building. I’d stay here again.

Nice enough hotel close to the Hurtigruten terminal, the railway station and the major areas of interest around Bergen.

It’s a bit quirky, not a level floor in the place but that’s its charm I suppose. Hotel is surrounded by bars and clubs expect some late night noise. Breakfast was not the best, if your not up early you may find your options limited as they didn’t seem keen on replenishing items.

The hotel photos reflect some charm. Unfortunately, that is not the reality for this rather expensive ($651/two nights), but dingy hotel. 1) It is located on a small dead end street with an enormous retaining wall on one side. It rains a lot in Bergen and the street becomes a river in short order. 2) Hotel staff (and there are not many) can best be described as rather bored. When we first checked in no one was at the reception desk. He finally showed up and was uncertain about which room we had. He seemed so laissez faire that I asked to see the room before we hauled the luggage in. The hotel has an elevator, but when he took us to the floor where room was located it also had a rickety narrow open wooden staircase with about 20 stairs that you had to climb to reach your room. He told me people liked the room because it was quiet and had "original timbers". I asked to see another room. Unfortunately, it also had steps. I settled for the 3rd room which at least was not difficult to reach. It was dark and the furnishings reminded me of 1930's decor. Not replicas - the originals. 3) There was a small attractive bar on the ground floor, but unfortunately, a bartender never surfaced in the entire time we were there so we were not able to use it. 4) The breakfast was average - served in a drab dining room. I've been traveling in Sweden and Norway for over 40 years and have to say that this hotel may be historic, but it has little else to recommend it.

It seems so old style, but with a good architect, feels like I was staying in a mountain resort, quiet, friendly.

Amazing historic location. The museum is being restored too 2024. It is a funky 700 year old pair of buildings. But they have an elevator, repaired while we were there.

A bar across the street played excessively loud music until 2:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. It was a charming hotel, but not a pleasant stay.

Well-located; unique and the opposite of "modern"; good breakfast

Lovely, atmospheric interior. We had a beautiful suite. Superb breakfast buffet. Only one issue, though it did annoy us - while we were fine with the rooms being cleaned only every 3rd day, we would expect the coffee pods and toiletries to be replenished daily and the cups and glasses changed. When we pointed this out it was addressed on one day. A cleaner did come in to the room to make the beds, so it would only take an extra minute to do these obvious and normal things.

A late arrival due to a flight delay saw us given a room which although large and well presented had a large generator directly outside the bedroom window which reduced our sleep to a few hours. When we questioned this at reception the next morning the acceptance of this problem suggested it was a known issue and an alternate room identified and normal sleep was resumed 👌.
The hotel quirky style due to its historical location within Bergen’s old town is difficult to access when viewed against more traditional hotels.
Despite this there are some elements that detract from its overall look. Random furniture stored in hotel corridors and staff coat racks on open view in the central private corridor are two such disappointing examples. A lack of hotel information in the rooms as to hotel facilities is unusual as is being unable to charge bar drinks to your room.
Despite this the hotel staff were attentive and accommodating and the hotel’s location is perfect for exploring such a visually stunning city.

This was a very charming hotel. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated and cozy. It was convenient that we could dine downstairs and have a late delicious dinner when we arrived as well as a late breakfast when we slept in. Checking in was a bit rocky as the parking is tricky but it was great there was an elevator. We suggest pulling in at the end of the drive on the one-way road to bring in your luggage and then park at the recommended parking garage. The staff member in the morning was very very friendly and exceptional and went way out of his way to let us follow him in his car so we could get to the ferry we were taking later. The location by the Bryggen Wharf was just perfect. We enjoyed staying in a historic building. It was a memorable stay and it definitely help make our trip to Norway very memorable.

Fantastic location in the heart of Bergen with lovely unusual decor. Breakfast was great and staff very helpful. They even posted on my headphones I left by accident back to UK

This unique hotel is located steps from the harbor and history of Bergen. The layout of the rooms in several attached old structures is rambling and quirky, which we liked. Our room was nicely wood paneled but the slope of the floor might not appeal to everyone. A little more shabby than chic right now but the charming rooms and location make your stay a personal experience.
Delicous scrambled eggs and other treats for breakfast.

My three-nights stay at the Hanseatic hotel was excellent! I hade a deluxe-room with a comfortable bad, extra chairs and a large bathroom including a bathtub. The hotel is beautiful and personal. I also enjoyed the breakfast every morning in historical surroundings.
