What an unexpected treasure Château de La Ballue. I had booked this stay while touring the Normandy beach landings for just one night. What a shame we were only there for such a brief time. The home is charming and beautiful. The room was perfection and the grounds were such a surprise. I had no idea they were world class manicured gardens complete with a labyrinth! The breakfast prepared for us made us all feel at
Home and was delicious! I wish our stay could
Have been longer. I would love to stay at this beautiful property again.

This was the highlight of our trip last year. Such a wonderful imnersive experience in a historic chateau. Very cozy and elegant at the same time. We really loved it. I would go out of my way for a return visit.

A stunning home shared with visitors. So welcoming and comfortable. Easy to communicate with. Very clean. Beautiful, well kept gardens, even in the rain. Good location. Very hospitable hosts and staff. Excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful grounds and a grand old chateau that was fun to stay in for 3 days. We were able to visit St. Malo and St Michelle.

It was a wonderful experience. The family was very welcoming, even the very friendly dogs. Don’t miss visiting the beautiful gardens and maze. Breakfast was made to order, and the daily made croissants were so good.

Everyone should make this a bucket list item to stay in an authentic French Chateau. There is nothing like it.

The room was dated. While it's charming, but not comfortable by modern standard.

This is a gem of a place. The room is well decorated and beautiful and the bathroom is perfect, large and well done. The gardens are magnificent and so well tended, make sure you see them and walk through the maze, the owners are available and extremely hospitable, the breakfast was a fabulous mix of delicious food and coffee. It is a wonderful slice of history. While the location is a bit remote and restaurants are no closer than 15 minutes, the owners have prepared a pamphlet of where to go, and since we arrived very late in the evening they called ahead for us to get a reservation. We were told they have concerts there for the locals, and I wish we could have been there for that. Highly recommend this wonderful place.

Romantic setting. It is very country area, nice garden to stroll in and comfortable large castle bedrooms. Decor is eclectic, but homey. Dining room was great but breakfast was expensive for the food and service. You have to like large friendly dogs.

We stayed for a night and it was great. The grounds were very peaceful and quiet... A perfect getaway from the city. The hosts were very hospitable as we arrived just as a concert was about to begin, yet the host graciously showed us to our room and also invited us to watch the concert if we wished. Very helpful in recommending restaurants and checking if they were open. We were also offered complimentary tea and coffee after we returned from dinner. We would love to go back again!

We were the only couple staying for the two nights. The room was very big and fairly beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was small and not great. There is no bath. The buffet was spread out for hours so not there fault for being a bit stale. The freshly cooked food was good. The location is rather remote and the nearest restaurants a little far and also very quiet.
It felt a little like we were intruding in a very peaceful family home with a stunning garden and lovely dogs.
It is about a half hour drive to Mont St Michel.
Very relaxing place.

It was beautiful, peaceful and romantic. The sculpted gardens only added to the ambience of another time. The breakfast was perfect and the croissants were delicious. I would highly recommend dinner prepared by Madame as well. Very French and very delicious. It doesn't get better than this.

We had the pleasure of staying at Chateau de la Ballue for two nights last week. We travel frequently, often to France, and do not normally submit hotel reviews. Marie-Francoise, Allain, and staff easily outshone the four star Paris hotel from which we had just come. The 17th century Chateau, the elegance of its national treasure formal gardens (with surprising modern touches), and surrounding countryside (about 20 kms from Mont-Saint-Michel), provided a dramatic backdrop to the warmth and attentiveness we experienced at La Ballue. Always-crisp linens, snow white towels, impeccable cleanliness throughout, and a wonderful breakfast, all left us wanting to return at the earliest possible date.
