Nice mountain experience

Nice location in the woods, but the hotel is a bit run-down.

Staff did not attend to the remediation of the WiFi network and TV network.
The gentleman took a look saw the problem said he would come back and never did.
Also my wife had the staff turn in the fireplace only to have the room full of smoke due to the fact that they left the damper closed. we had to switch rooms due to the smell. Dangerous.

They weren’t expecting our arrival and gave us a dirty room with no towels and no hair dryer, we requested a dryer multiple times before they gave us one. The trash can was dirty. It had dead bugs in the floor, and a living cockroach was in the shower, they offered us another room that also had bugs in the shower, then gave us another one that was also dirty (not as much as the other two)

No documents in english to read at check in , but the staff went out of their way to make it easy.
Get their before dark as its is a low lit area high on the hill. Great signage getting to property. Check in by 8p thankfully they extended this to 9p for a friend.
Friendly, quiet and spread-out property.
Hot water and super clean room.
Surprised little wood and no fire started stocked in "heated room" and no bottom bed sheet.
Otherwise, everything was fabulous and out of their way to fix issues.

Beautiful room, great grounds and the staff was fabulous. On top of it, the restaurant was fantastic. We got the best Chateaubriand either of us had ever had.

Great service and food, front service desk and waiters service is excellent.
But the chalets are old and need to be thoroughly clean, there are spider webs, the rooms smell like humidity/mold, the bathrooms toilets are stain. The roof on top of one of the beds was falling and we even found a rusty nail on the bed. Around the property needs a lot maintenance on the gardens and places to sit. Overall is ok to go eat and visit but not to stay overnight.

Outdated and worn property. Rooms are old and cold. Totally overpriced and rated

We loved having a fire place in the room, what a treat! The place is old but quite a cool retro experience... Where else can you stay in a Tyrolean chalet in Costa Rica? It's lovely and fresh, quite chilly in the mornings, and the neighborhood is worth exploring on foot or bike. We did a great hike up on Cerro Dantas and through the wildlife refuge (2,500 entry)... It's about 2km to the gate and then a 3km loop in the refuge but very muddy and wet so make sure you're prepared. All in all, a unique weekend experience!

The rooms seemed a bit tired. The menu at the restaurant needs an urgent update, it was not vegetarian friendly and presentation of food was too simple. If you are staying for over two nights, it can be difficult to be offered only the traditional gallo pinto for breakfast every day. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and willing to accommodate, for example, we were able to use the fire pit even though apparently it is only made available for use on weekends.

Very nice hotel close to the city. Great for a weekend escape. The restaurant is really good. The staff is very welcoming and go out of their way to please you. Close to Refugio Cerro Dantas which is great for hiking, within the rainy forest and there are 2 waterfalls.

A wonderful location in the mountains. The room has a wood burning fireplace that gave the room a smoke smell. At first is was inviting but it had permeated the sheets and I woke up several times during the night from the smell. The grounds are lovely and the staff and food is great.

Great location. Wonderful service. In the chalets is better to stay in the upper level as the lower level receives a bit of noise if the upper guest are inconsiderate.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, a rather unusual Swiss-styled property with superb gardens and views. We had a large suite in the main block with a comfortable bed and a large log-burning stove. This was equipped with fire-lighters, kindling and a good supply of logs so that we could have a cosy fire each evening – it was magical! The bathroom was a good size with shower over the massive bath! There was even a fan-heater provided for when it turned chilly. An excellent breakfast was served in the restaurant which also served superb French-style evening meals. Indeed, we had a superb and very succulent tenderloin steak and the following evening one of the best French onion soups we have ever eaten! Overall, a wonderful final two days before heading to the airport for departure!

The overall experience was very good. The employees were super nice to us and the food was delicious. The bed and the pillows are too hard to sleep on, but it was not that terrible.

Chalet Tirol is a European inspired hotel partially up the mountain, fairly far from downtown Heredia. You approach the hotel on a lovely tree lined road. Once checked in at the desk you walk along a garden path. bordered by hydrangeas to get to your room. The room was simple, but clean and cozy with a wood burning fireplace. The restaurant was charming and breakfast was excellent. I hope that you enjoy this quiet retreat as much as I did.

This place was actually quite charming in its own way. Its not everyday that you find an Austrian style chalet in the wilds of Costa Rica, but thats what this is. The knockoff isnt quite Disney level realistic, but whoever built it did a pretty good job overall. The gardens and courtyard are beautiful and the rooms were plain, but very clean. Having a fireplace in the room was an unexpected and useful surprise since it got quite cold at night while we were there.Food at the restaurant was really quite good. The included breakfast was simple, but delicious and a big step above what you would get at most chain hotels. The beds were ok in terms of comfort. No issues at all with cleanliness anywhere, so that was a plus. The only disappointment was that the wifi did not work in our room. If you wanted internet access, you had to go out in the hall and work there. Dont know if this is an issue in all rooms, but it was in ours.Overall, we were happy with our stay there. It was a little on the pricey side and we picked it mainly because of limited availability elsewhere. It is a little bit off the beaten path, so be prepared to drive a little to get to where you are going.

This place is a little tricky to get but nothing a GPS can't resolve.... we get very late like 10pm for checkin so we expect really much less then normal, but no, we get a delicious dinner on their French Restauran let tell, we have a very nice welcome and advice of the breakfast options for next day and a beautiful offer to get it on our door for no charge .... we fill the breakfast options and after dinner just enjoy the amazing cold climate of the area ... Each house has two reservations, the one on bottom and the one on top, let tell you te one in the bottom is bigger but has little more nozes of your neighbor so next time i will choose the top one. I say next time because i really enjoy this place, was crazy quit and love the food, breakfast was so good to, they get it hot as get out the oven, and free toast was very good to. .We enjoy a delicious Costa rican Pinto,m eggs and fried cheese, juicer, delicious coffee and a plate of fruit.. Everything included on the reservation fee. I really recommend it and hope each one of you guys enjoy as we did this very nice old camp houses.

The only downside in this hotel is the restaurant. Expensive and the dishes are small and not tasty.
