Very central to old town. Lovely staff

The room was fine but very noisy. The curtains were not opaque enough to block out the light and guarantee rest. Very good breakfast and attentive staff.

Room was charming and spacious. Breakfast was good. The room was a little cold with no way to increase heat. Staff was very nice and accommodating to special requests.

Excellent location and service. Breakfast is included but had no vegan options - something to keep in mind if you are vegan.

We arrived in early evening and was met by a locked door. Ringing the doorbell produced no reaction. Fortunately for us ,other guests came out, so we could sneak in. On the counter was an envelope with my name on it and a room key. Next shock - the room was in the attic, up an extremely steep and narrow staircase. Hauling our suitcases up there was athletic business. No one asked about our age or any disabilities when booking. Should not be to hard to do to prevent guests not being able to reach their room? Third shock - the key did not fit in the front door. We were going to the opera in a few minutes - how to get in again? Other guests told us they had got the door code in an email. Not we. Reaching the host on the phone on the 11th try, I was rather upset. But we made it to the opera. And apart from this, the hotel is ok. Room in attic is large, but wooden beds with foam mattress. Nice breakfast with friendly service.

very nice and small hotel. No personell in the reception when I arrived in the afternoon but an envelope with the key prepared. Nice breakfast! PERFECT location! Clean and very comfortable! Highly recommended

Right in the old town, bit of noise from revellers on their way home but not a big issue. Simple but stylish with really nice and helpful staff. Would stay again.

The decor was superb in the breakfast and lounge area. Very up to date. Our bedroom decor was fine. Lovely bathroom and shower - newly decorated I think. Staff equally were lovely. Great location - 10 mins walk from the coach station. We used Lux coaches from Tallinn to Riga which I would also highly recommend. Breakfast was fine. The only slight negative was the noise level from the street. If you are bothered by noise which we usually are then this could be an issue. However, everything else about the hotel was so good that we were willing to overlook this.

This hotel is very conveniently located in the Old Town with restaurants and a supermarket nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was tasty and plentiful and our room was very clean. The only issue was that there was quite alot of noise from the street during the night, but we were still pleased we chose this lovely small hotel.

Good location in centre of old city, easy access to airport, friendly welcome, good buffet breakfast. Only thing missing for us was kettle in room to make a cup of coffee.

What a pleasure it was to stay in a place that accepts you as a family member. It is located in the heart of the old city.

The new management could not be better, Viktor and Ines provide a unique experience that makes you feel at home. A beautiful 1782 building with all the modern commodities to really enjoy the stay, its definitely worth to book an extra day in Riga just to spend it in the hotel with them because they really look after you.

Basic hotel in great location. Expected more for our money there were 3 of us and I expected 3 beds but only got 2 and a poor sofa bed. Shower was shocking you had to hold it as you couldnt get washed under it.Thankfully we were only there for one night and arrived late and left early which made it almost bearable dont think Id have wanted to stay longer

Very clean. Accommodating and friendly staff and centrally located to everything in Old Riga. Adequate breakfast.

Very friendly staff. Ideally situated in the middle of the old town (which, in all fairness is very small), near the main bus stop. A small but comfortable hotel, the breakfast isnt the greatest but theres a fair variety and its very good given the price of the room which are neatly decorated with deep red colours and wonderful high ceilings.

The hotel was extremely friendly, the room was huge, clean, quiet and very comfortable with a big bathroom with bath. Everything was beautifully appointed. It was a little too warm for me, that's my only criticism. But I would most definitely stay here again. The location was very central in the Old Town and this was overall great value for money.

Great family run hotel with everything you need. Huge bed and room, delicious and extensive breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Only small negative is the WiFi was a little patchy.
4.0 / 10.0
The hotel is a very reasonable price and cannot be beaten for its location in the heart of Old Riga. Staff are pleasant and willing to assist with anything asked of them. the economy rooms are what you need but not much more but then again you do not need to stay indoors in your hotel in Old Riga.

We stayed at the Man-Tess in Riga for 6 nights in August. Taxi from the airport was easy after giving the driver the address. (you can take a bus and walk, but you'd need to be good at directions since it's a bit winding in old town.) It was late at night when we arrived, but somebody is on duty 24 hours - the front door is locked at night, but a buzzer alerts the night person to let you in. Good security. There is an elevator so you don't have to carry luggage upstairs.
Man-Tess is in Vecriga, the old town. It is close to the canal and the Art Nouveau area of town too. Easy to walk to all the attractions in old town and other areas too.
The price is good, breakfast is included and open for a long time every morning. Very good breakfast, coffee made to order. Always cereal, toast, pastries, cheese and meats, fruit, hard boiled eggs.
We left and came back, so we experienced two rooms. On the 4th floor, facing the side street rather than the front, we had a nice large room with a comfortable bed and good bathroom, nothing fancy but fine. It was still a bit noisy at night with street noise. The windows open for a breeze - it was hot, but not too hot. When we returned, we stayed in a room on the 2nd floor, facing front. It was smaller, but we hadn't booked it in advance and it was available. The problem with sleeping in front is that the bar down the street is very rowdy at night, all night. Difficult to sleep with noise. Stay on the side if possible.

We have just stayed at the Mann-Tess and found it to be very comfortable, nice small scale lodging with solid morning light breakfast and very helpful and friendly concierge, wait staff. It is located in the heart of Old Riga. I highly recommend it.

A rather shabby, tired looking hotel, staff not exactly friendly apart from one young woman who was helpful and smiling!
Our bed was very hard and uncomfortable, in a large room with dated decor and soft furnishings, the bathroom was okay but the water could have been hotter.
The buffet breakfast was simple but tasty, without a great deal of choice and we were only offered one cup of coffee!
The hotel is in a great location in Riga old town, within easy walking distance of just about everything you could want to see or do. The huge downside of this was an extremely noisy local bar, with drinkers sitting outside for the whole of the Saturday night, making no effort to keep the noise down. Sadly, I couldn't recommend this hotel.

Hotel Man-Tess is a lovely hotel in an ideal location to access the old town, Our room was very big and nicely furnished with wood panelling and a four post bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was plentiful. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a hotel with a "local feel" rather than the modern multi national chains.
Riga it's self was lovely though the tempreture was minus 20 (February 2011) when we were there. The river had frozen over, but the snow added to the pitcuresque old town. There are many olde worlde and modern coffee shopes and taverns. We also took the train to Jurmala, where the sea there was completely frozen over as far as the horizon. The train journey is onlt 30 mins, and it was well worth visiting just to see the large beach resort completely frozen and covered in snow.

The hotel lobby was fun - a koi pond and two parakeets and a little stone bridge to the elevator. The room had hardwood floors and wooden built-ins; very nice. Very convenient location, too, right in the old part of the city, which is a beautiful city, by the way.

Very comfortable small hotel with great location. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. only down fall is older building with creeky floors and a little stuffy. Other than that was very impressed and satisfied.

All the rooms in this hotel have windows onto the street. This means they can be noisy especially if it is hot and you need to open the windows - there seems to be no air-con. On the plus side the staff are helpful and it is centrally placed for the old town.

Beautiful hotel, smart rooms, great internal decor, great breakfast. However we requested a double bed and had two two single beds pushed together which was far from ideal for our romantic get away! And the bathroom stank of sewage for three days until we worked out that the trap did not have water in it, my boyfriend had to fix it. Receptionist was not interested. Would still go back though as long as could guarentee double bed.
